  1. My husband and I went on a Viking River Cruise in 2009 from Amsterdam to Budapest and love it. It was a easy way to see Germany, Austria and Hungry. The food was great . At that time most of the excursions were included. i believe only 2 optional ones were available. The ship served dishes local to the area. We also bought the drink package. There is not allot of entertainment on board. There was nightly music in the lounge. We often had on board culture experiences and lectures--glass blowing demos, Viennese coffee making, German streusel and folk dancing. We found the rooms a little smaller than a E1 on a cruise ship. But the bathrooms were good size with a normal size shower with a glass door not a time capsule. At the end we took the train from Budapest to Prague. Prague is a very walk-able and easy city to do on your own.

We are doing a Christmas Market cruise on Viking in Dec going from Nuremberg to Budapest. This time we do have a daily included excursion but each day there are several optional excursion offered in each port. Not buying the drink package this time as wine, beer and soda are included with lunch and dinner.

  2. First time cruising out of Europe' date=' and looking for ideas and help.

We will be flying form east coast ( BWI ? ) ( open for suggestions for best airports ) to Barcelona next year.

Average cost / average flight time ? More than likely using RCCL to book flights, but want an idea of how things will be...

    Thank You In Advance !!![/quote']

We flew British Airways from Dulles International to Barcelona last Nov for our transatlantic. We paid $460 one way and used Choice Air for the tickets. It was a 6 hour flight to Heathrow with a 2 hour layover in London and then about a 90 minute flight to Barcelona. We took the airport bus(real easy) for 6 euros to Plaza Cataluna(top of the Los Rambles)and then a short 1 block walk to our hotel. Since it was now 3 pm in Barcelona our room was ready.

  3. We had a Catholic priest on our November transatlanic on the Serenade of the Seas. He had been provided by the Apostle of the Seas who paid for his trip. One of the passengers on our cruise had made the request to the Apostle of the Seas. It was the first time we had heard of such an organization. We now donate to it to help keep it going.

  4. We just got off the Jewel on Saturday. Our muster was at 8pm. We had 8:30 seating but that night dinner was at 8:45. We actually couldn't get to our table to almost 9 due to the crowds of people coming back in from the decks from the muster drill. The rest of the cruise dinner was back to the 8:30 start time.
