    Questions about B2B:

We’re booked on a 14-day sailing on the Rotterdam May/June 2024. We didn’t realize at time of booking, but this is actually a B2B.

What can we expect on the turnover day?

    1. Will there be shore excursions we can sign up for in the port? (The port is Rotterdam.)

    2. How will this impact dining? We signed up for Club Orange, if that makes a difference. We’re not in a suite, and I’m guessing we will still be one-star mariners.
    3. If we leave the ship on our own, will we have to join the throngs of new cruisers to get back onboard? Will I need to get my passport out of the safe?
    4. Will areas of the ship be off-limits or non-operational during times in the day? I.E., the spa, the cafe, the gym, the buffet? Will we find ourselves unable to get back to our room?

Any other weird quirks I haven’t thought of?

    Thanks!

  2. I have not been on a cruise ship for awhile and wonder if the ship delays those passengers that have no shore excursions booked through them. A few years ago, when we were docking in St. Petersburg, the ship announced that passengers who had booked tours with the ship would exit first and that was according to Russian immigration. We had private tour arranged, got our group together, and were the first off. Russian immigration did not care. I plan to do either DIY or private tours - are there any problems disembarking quickly?

  3. We leave Barcelona on Oct 11.We are in Marseilles on Tues Oct 13. Are you on the same cruise? I am in the processing of researching private tours and perhaps if you are on the same timetable you could join us.

  4. I have been going through the posts and it seems that most agree that the BIRG ticket from Civitavecchia to Rome is the best way to go in terms of flexibility and cost. We are on the Allure of the Seas, arrive on Thursday Oct 15 and look like we dock at quay 2BIS(S) - although I could not find a diagram of the port to figure out where it is. Could someone give me the details of what we need to do once we arrive and return - our ship arrives 7AM and depart 8 PM. It appears to me there is a free shuttle from the port to the train station - where do I find the shuttle, how long does it take and where to I get off? Will I need to walk to the train station and if so what is the route. Should I buy the tickets in advance and if so from where? - it looks like the 12 euros/person is the best because it includes buses, etc. What were our times look like eg, How long will it take us to get from ship to the train station, what might be the earliest train we can catch, how long will it take and then the reverse trip back. The ship wants about $110 CAD to take a fast train but I think it leaves at 9:30 and departs about 5 pm but it can be replaced by a bus if there is not enough people. So the BIRG looks way more attractive. Thanks for any help you can give us.:)
