  1. We just cruised on Norwegian Escape for our first cruise. We planned a year in advance. My husband has to choose his vacation weeks in November for the following year. I would not have been happy to have our cruise cancelled after choosing our vacation based on a specific cruise we wanted.

  2. Want to try Norwegian Cruise line but want to be sure the sauna/steam room is same-sex only. My idea of a great sauna is NOT wearing swimwear. It's just not the same and would not consider going on a ship that has co-ed sauna. Thank you!

    The Escape is co-ed.

  3. Just for FYI...at major hubs, the baggage operations are quite efficient. Like snow removal, they know what has to be done and they're experienced.

FWIW, if flying DL, use their app to track your bags. All bags get scanned as they are loaded on your aircraft and you can be sitting in your seat and have the peace of mine of knowing it's in the hold underneath you. Or, if they do miss, you have that knowledge before you are standing around the carousel wasting time waiting. Great feature of their app - don't know if UA and AA have anything similar.

I downloaded the delta app so I can track my flight and luggage. Thanks.

  4. Thank you everyone. I'll call Delta and see if they have anything else available. We are traveling with another couple so would need 4 seats and the "restrictions apply" states if you are delayed you might be able to change. We aren't being delayed, they changed it to a shorter layover.

Again, thank you for your help.

  5. Hi Everyone, we are looking forward to our first cruise on the Escape on Dec 5th. We planned this trip almost a year ago. I booked my flights early because we got such a great deal (BOS to MIA for $200.11 each round trip). I usually fly direct because I hate the landing. :)

When I booked our flights I specifically booked flights so we would have at least 1.5 hour layover in JFK, but Delta has changed a couple of times and now we have only 45 minutes to change planes! For you seasoned travelers, is this enough time to change planes and will our luggage get there with us?

Luckily we are flying in the day before because I listened to your advice! I'm sure it will all work out... it's just frustrating that I tried so hard to keep everything as stress free as possible and now I'm wishing I had a direct flight!

  6. Don't think brand makes any difference at all. Supplements like ginger are not regulated by any agency that I know of, so you're taking your chances with all of them (by that I mean quality, safety, potency, etc.). I don't mean to say you shouldn't take them, I do myself in very rough conditions, but I wouldn't waste time or money searching by brand name. I also prefer the crystallized ginger (especially dark chocolate covered from Trader Joe's!) but don't know whether it's more or less effective than the capsules/tablets.

Thank you. I know it's not regulated but was looking for something without a lot of other ingredients.

  7. Some islands can handle large crowds better than others. In some cases with docks, five ships might be more than the docks and handle and some of the ships might have to tender. Docking is preferable to tendering.

If you have an early excursion, and you are docked, you go to the meeting place on the dock. If you have a late excursion, you can either relax on the ship or check out the area near the port.

If you have a very early excursion, and you are tendering, they will usually have you meet on the ship, then escort you to a tender to get to shore. Otherwise you take the tender to shore then look for the meeting place for your excursion or if you are early enough, you can check out the area around the port.

Here is the Carnival Victory docked in Saint John, Canada. You can see the ramp used to debark and board the ship ...

Here are a bunch of ships tendering passengers to/from Grand Cayman ...

Here I am on a tender returning to the Sapphire Princess ...

Thanks for the examples. I still can't get over the size of the ships!
