  1. FYI.....On the 12-1 cruise, my OBC was not received until after all three of my prepaid reservations were attended. The excuse I was given: "Customers get the OBC and then they cancel the reservation". If I prepaid my reservation in advance I believe you should get the OBC on your first day. Its your loss if you don't attend your dinners, its already paid for in advance. Hope this make sense, its late. Happy cruising and safe travels.

  2. I am sailing on the 23rd and have a quick question:

Is there a "baby splash zone" on board.

All ships have a kiddie area, but some (like Oasis class) have a small area with only a few inches of water strictly for babies in swim diapers. It is filtered separately and independent of the regular kids zone.

I was on Quantum in November, but didn't think to check!

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, sailing on the 23rd too!! The "splash zone" is located outside of the exit of the Windjammer. If you are facing forward Johnny Rockets will be on the right and unfortunately the Smoking section will be on the left. It appears to be a "wave pool" but when I was on board if wasn't operating as such. The water remained calm and as you walked down the slope the depth increased. There was also a small area next to it with a small circular pool of water. Just a few inches. The cutest was the "mini" version of the deck chair. Safe travels!

  3. When downloading the Royal IQ app today, I noticed that the app requires permissions from your phone/tablet to access the following:

    Device & app history

    Identity

    Contacts

    Phone

    Photos/Media/Files

    Microphone

    Wi-Fi connection information

    Device ID & call information

Allowing this effectively gives RCI access to all your personal information, your friends e-mail and or phone numbers and in fact gives them the ability to completely take over your phone.

    Bob

Yes, I DID notice this and therefore did not download onto my Android LG phone. When I downloaded on my tablet for my first trip on Quantum, I don't recall that request of info. I am not comfortable with giving that access ability to Royal or anyone for that matter....so.....will wait till on the Quantum 1-23, and try to download while on board. Will it make a difference? I don't know.....

  4. Hi, just answered another question of yours.....We stayed in 10262, other side of the hump, D7. Totally enjoyed the extra footage on balcony!! The noise we experienced drove us crazy a few nights, especially the first night. We heard faint "knocks" from the balcony door area. We investigated, inside and out, couldn't find anything. We moved things away from the walls and still couldn't find anything. Opened and closed balcony door, adjusted the handle, etc. It seemed to be on the first 2 nights and last 2 nights. While the creaking and knocking was annoying (creepy at times) it didn't prevent us from sleeping. Thank goodness!!

  5. I found the "smoke" to be the worst at night, at the Forward entrance, next to the Music Hall. They have two seating arrangements just steps inside of the casino. On my cruise 12-1, there seemed to be the same group gathering in that area. One particular night they were quite loud and somewhat obnoxious. On the opposite end at the Aft entrance is where the "No-smoking" area is located. I didn't find the smoke to be a problem.

    Have a great cruise!!

  6. Hi, the answer in red is directly from the Concierge, Carolina, on board the Quantum:

What are the Diamond Lounge hours and what can I expect to find in reference to food and drink items? How long is breakfast served? 7-10 am and 5 to 8:30 pm CONTINENTAL BFAST AND COCKTAILS AND O'DOUVRES FOR COCKTAIL HOUR.

Where is the "specialty" coffee machine located? Are the hours 24/7 as stated? Coffee Machine is located inside Diamond Lounge, Deck 4; its is 24/7

Cookies on deck 5 next to Sorrentos they cookies are served all of the time as well as in the Windjammer where they are baked.

Have a great cruise. I will be on the Quantum for the second time in just a few days. Keeping my fingers crossed that the "glitches" will not exist.

  7. If cruising is that annoying to you why not find another type of vacation ? Doesn't do any good to come on Cruise Critic and whine.

I have been on CC for many years.......my personal opinion, whether it be positive or negative....is MY opinion and description of my experience. Why is it that CC has become a group of FLAMERS, CHEERLEADERS and CLIQUES that lend themselves to demeaning remarks and in some cases out right rudeness.

Can we please act as adults and permit each other to simply state what they have experienced. Quite honestly, the Quantum is a ship with many problems. I have been on it and unfortunately taking another cruise because I couldn't cancel in time because of penalty.

If each paying customer doesn't give the next paying customer a truthful and accurate description of their experience ....what is the purpose of CRUISE CRITIC to begin with??

  8. Sailed 12-1-2014. Warning.....document everything. My prepaid reservations were lost as well as all of the other entertainment and dining reservations. I was informed on board the systems aren't interfacing and have caused reservation issues. We were accommodated BUT not on the evening's we originally coordinated our dining and entertainment schedule to compliment each other. Also, a another point of interest-if you prepay 3 specialty dining venues or more, you will receive an OBC for 30% of the total. NOTE: will not get OBC until you have dined in all three or more of the specialty dining venues. Jamie Oliver's, was quite good and the service was also very good. Chops, the food was okay and the service was okay. Many mistakes were made on our order. I went as far to document paperwork for the Visa card I used to prepay months in advance (just in case of what happened).

  9. Thanks for the article link. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/179107.php

It has excellent information. Wondering if the "self serve" drink kiosks will be eliminated all together, especially the beverage/soda dispenser? Any other advice on what to do and what not to do? Scheduled for 1-31 and dreading it. Bringing Lysol spray and Clorox wipes for my cabin. Will wipe down any table or chair I use and will eat only in the dining room. I am thinking the buffet is too risky. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. So sorry for everyone onboard.
