  1. Today marks 101 days since Celebrity cancelled my March 15th sailing on the Edge and I have not recieved a refund. I can't get any answers from Celebrity or VTG. When I call or email Celebrity I'm told my booking is locked and that I need to call VTG. When I call or email VTG they tell me Celebrity has all the information they need to process the refund and there's nothing more they can do. I'm seriously concerned that RCI will never return my money. I feel like my only recousre is to try and file a dispute with my card company; I dont want it, but, I will. This experience has caused me to lose faith in a company I once regarded as solid gold. Is there anyone out there that has been waiting this long?

  2. We will be on the Carnival Miracle out of Tampa, leaving January 27, 2018. We are looking for a least 4 other passengers from the Miracle to join us (2 adults) on a private catamaran sailing excursion in Roatan. This is the 3rd day of the cruise, Tuesday, January 30, arrive 10:00am, depart 6:00pm and we have this date secured, but, there's a 6 person minimum. Are you interested? 3 ships in port that day.

$120 per person - The charter includes transportation to & from the cruise ship dock, snacks, lunch, all beverages (soda, bottled water, local beer & blender drinks like Pina Coladas) & snorkeling gear.

  3. Hi Lady Hudson - sorry to hear about DH. This just happened to me. I called RCI and they offered to add a special needs flag on my boarding pass which allows DH a service call Pier Assistance. When you get to the port, see if you can drop your luggage from the car, before you park. You can then move as close as possible to the terminal entrance to let your DH out while you park the car. He should tell the first RCI employee he sees that you've arranged for Pier Assistance. Once you show up from parking the car they will get you and your DH on the ship by wheelchair.

This designation does not cover shore excursions. It only covers getting DH on and off the ship at each port. If you need additional assistance you will need to get a wheelchair from one of the previously mentioned website.

I can tell you from very recent experience that RCI was excellent at helping me have a great cruise in spite of hurting my knee a month before the cruise. Call them...;)

  4. I was on the Valor out of Pt Canaveral during Joaquin...not cool. The Captain came on over the PA as we were leaving San Juan to say we would miss Grand Turk because of a storm and that we're changing course in an effort to miss any bad weather. He explained that he wanted to head toward Cuba and follow the coast line, then enter the Straights of Florida to stay ahead of the weather and return us home safely.

I really appreciated his communication with us and I'm sure they did everything they could do to keep us out of harms way. But, that storm got big and strong really fast! We spent the night in a hurricane on the open sea...not close to the eye, like the poor El Fargo, but close enough inside the rotation to make for the highest seas I have ever been on. It was a crazy experience and one I will not forget. Happily, I lived to tell this tale :D

  5. My ship is leaving in 3 days and I've torn the ACL and MCL in my right knee so I'm in a full leg brace. RCI has arranged for Pier Assistance, but they will not allow me to use the wheelchair beyond the pier and into the Cruise Terminal in Nassau.

I wonder what/where I might be able to go to get...appetizers, cocktails and people watching that wouldn't be too hard on me. If some of you have been there recently what would you recommend? I know they added the big fence around the terminal and there might be a place inside now with the shopping stalls...is there anything else that you can think of, super close just outside of the fence, that would make me feel like I got off the ship for a little while?

  6. After sailing almost all of the Carnival ships at one time, or the other, I have to agree that "LIBERTY" is my absolute favorite ship/cruise. No one thing that makes it that way, but just the best overall cruise, and a FANTASTIC crew.

    "SKY"

I couldn't agree with you more...our cruise on the Liberty was one of the best we've every taken due to the fantastic vibe created and perpetuated by the crew of this ship...never saw it before, never seen it since.

  7. It's been resolved!!!

Carnival finally honored their Early Saver's Program and adjusted my cruise rate to reflect the email promotion they sent to me this morning. I'm not sure what\how\why this was so difficult as I have sailed with Carnival many times before and I have submitted the ES claim form in the past without any drama.

I feel both elated and drained in equal measure, but mostly very happy to be cruising without resentment or disappointment over a bizarre customer relations issue that still confuses me.

Bon Voyage to all of us! :)

  8. For those of you who have been able to get your online claim processed; congratulations! I did fill out the form, it looked like it got submitted, but when I did not get a response from Carnival after 3 days I made the first phone call.

When I got up this morning there was an email from Carnival...offering me a 2 day past guest rate. I followed all of the links in the email, found my ship, found my deck and I could book the cabin right next to mine for another $50 off per person!

Call me crazy, but I called Carnival and someone answered and I'm on hold waiting for them to honor this pricing. I will post back with the results. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone with how they are handling their customers and pricing programs. I really wish they would just play by the rules they advertise and treat each guest exactly the same. WISH ME LUCK!

  9. I called to get an Early Saver's Price adjustment. They had our cruise discounted by $200 per person on their website. The call was close to an hour long, with several periods of extended holds while the operator checked with her shift supervisor. She would give an excuse as to why they could not honor the website price and I would counter. Hold, excuse, counter...repeat.

Finally she put me on hold for about 20 minutes. When she came back to the phone she refused to adjust the cost saying there was nothing more she could do. I said, thanks for your time and hung up, but as I did I could her her begin to speak again. I will never know what she was trying to say, but wouldn't have believed her anyway; I was frustrated and exhausted.

When I went to the website and pulled up my booking today the online bill invoice had been altered, with a $100 per person credit. It also has a red star on it and the dollar amounts are in red print. When I tried to call customer service to ask about this and gave my booking number I was "accidentally" disconnected and had to call back twice. Then one guy who answered told me my booking froze his computer and transferred me to a second man who told me that all he could do was add services, otherwise he would have to transfer me to a supervisor and then I was disconnect from him, making it the forth disconnection.

This is not normal and I can only figure that they must have flagged my booking due to the first call I made about the Early Saver's Program. We've sailed with them in the past, but I've never had anything like this happen before. I was wondering if some of you have experienced something like this with Carnival.

  10. I've posted some info earlier on this thread, but here's an update to vegan dining...We sailed the Freedom last month in May. Family of 7, one vegan who's sailed numerous times & we've never had any issues on Carnival.

The lido can be tricky. Sure there are always salads, fruit, veggies etc., but again the hostess was no help. The chef was excellent up there and very helpful / showed exactly which foods were vegan. No veggie burgers though. The guys at the blue iguana brought out packages for her to review and she did in fact eat there. Over the years we've just found the lido to be a lot of work for a vegan, but certainly you won't go hungry. Hope this help, any questions just ask!

Thanks so much, CocoaMom. I stopped going to the MDR many years ago, but I like the idea of making a reservation at The Point (Conquest) and then asking for a vegan experience...that sounds fun! I will make a determinded effort to speak to the staff at the Lido Buffet until I find someone willing to help me the first day of the cruise. I don't really have to follow "vegan" rules; I don't even know what they are. I'm just suppose to eliminate meat-eggs-dairy.

I've been reading a lot of stuff online and it says that the Conquest has a hamburger grill at the aft pool with garden burgers, in addition they have the Blue Iguana Cantina where I can get stuff made to order. Between the Lido Buffet, The Point, Room Service and these other places I should be OK. Thanks again for all the information and encouragment; I appreciate it.:)

  11. Carnivals reply doesn't really help me much...and I'm a little nervous. I will continue to search for more information and devise some strategies before I sail. I'm thinking that the Lido Buffet is where I will find the most options. If anyone reading this has any ideas, I'd appreciate hearing them. :o

  12. Up to date FYI - I'm not a vegan. I've had some recent medical issues and my doctor has directed me to eliminate meat-eggs-all dairy. I'm sailing in late September on the Conquest. I wasn't sure what to expect or how I would manage given this is very new to me. I wrote to Carnival and this is the reply I received today...
