  1. Bill,

I was interested in seeing the SS Badger in your signature block. I grew up in Ludington and worked on the car ferries while I was in high school and college. My first trip was on the Badger in 1953 when they did an inaugural "cruise to nowhere" for dignitaries from Wisconsin and Michigan.

At that time there 8 ships sailing and I worked on all of them in what we would call today, the hotel department. At that time it was the Steward's Department (anything to do with the passengers).

I guess that is where I developed my love for cruising.

  2. When we were on the Grand South America and Antarctic cruise we were informed by the Future Cruise Consultant that HAL has decided to not have the Grand Pacific and Far East cruise in 2015. Does anyone know what the Amsterdam is going to be doing then?

  3. To post here from your Picasa web-albums, just bring up the photo you want to post in your web-album, right-click on it and select 'Copy Image', then come to your CC post, right-click where you want the photo and select 'paste'

Thanks for the information. I liked your picture and it reminded me of one of mine.

  4. I use both.

I use SF for just about everything, albums, web site, photo books, etc. It is very good.

But, for posting my photos here, I use PB. I find it really easy for that, and with PB, you can easily change the sizes of your pix.

Thanks for the information. Our daughter uses SF all the time and has done some great books with them. My wife is in the process of picking images from our world cruise to do a book, probably on SF. I have also considered Blurb. It has the advantage that you do your layout offline so it could be started while on the ship and not have internet charges.

  5. Are you using either photobucket or flickr to get your pictures for CC?

No, I don't. I haven't had the need to add photos to posts in the past but that might change. Does either site have an advantage over the other?

I do use Picasa and like that since it uses geotags to show where the photo was shot. My DW and I both have the GPS Lumix to help us keep track of locations. I don't know if I can use Picasa to post on CC.

  6. Just found this thread and decided I would try post something. This is from a recent trip to Bora Bora.

EDIT; I was not able to paste the image using the iPad. I used the CC attachment manager which greatly restricts the image size.

  7. "After the quick embarkation and exploration of the ship we found our way to the cabins. We were lucky to get one of the interior cabins where the bed is against the rear wall.

The other setup has the bed in the middle, with the couch closer to the back of the room. The former feels bigger even though they have identical square footage."

The balcony rooms have the same 2 layouts. We were unlucky enough to have the bed near the door. There was not enough room for 2 people to walk around the bed. They have also cut down on storage space. The night stands don't have drawers , just shelves. For the money the room was a disappointment.
