  1. I would vote for Hilton Riverside. I took my daughter there a couple of years ago when she was 10. We rode the trolley to the St. Louis Cathedral and stopped at Cafe Du Monde on our way back to the Trolley. We also did a free Garden District/Cemetery tour. You just tip them what you feel they deserve. There are some neat places to eat in that area of town. Two Chicks cafe for breakfast/lunch and Cochon Butcher for lunch. For a fancy dinner we went to Muriel's at Jackson Square. Looking forward to going back there for a few days before our cruise in March :)

  2. Sorry I got quite carried away there, I could go on forever. :D We had such a nice time and fell in love with Allure, and I’m still all excited about the whole cruise! If anything specific comes to mind you’d like to know, please do ask! I also brought the cruise compasses with me so I can check if there’s something you’d like to know.

I know we've been talking about food, but can you tell me if there were any theme nights like the the disco or glow nights?

This is great! The more information the better!

    Thanks :)

  4. Just returned from our cruise where we went to Chops and Giovanni's. Chops was nice, but Giovanni's was amazing - and we've spent quite a few holidays traveling all over Italy. :D Also the service was really great on Giovanni's (not that there was anything wrong with Chops).

We are on the Allure in 2 weeks! Would love to hear any other advice you have.:)

  5. We are docking in La Spezia, and travelling with 3 kiddos, (ages 9,10,12), so Pisa is a must do. We will not be climbing the tower, just taking the train there to look around, take some photos and allow the kids their glorious moment of "I was here!"

CatctusGirly, I've got a 9 yo and we'll be on Allure in a couple of weeks. I'd love to hear any advice you have after you return. THANKS

  6. I think we should discuss some geography. If you want a taxi from La Spezia to Pisa and then back to Riomaggiore (the closest Cinque Terre village) you are talking about 100 miles of driving plus the waiting time in Pisa. This will cost you hundreds of Euros. That is a lot of money for a quick photo stop :). There will be some taxis waiting in La Spezia (first come first serve) and they would love this kind of fare :). You could also book a private car/driver online but that will also cost you hundreds of Euros. Personally, having been to Pisa we do not think its worth hundreds of Euros.

If it were just me, that would be too much. However there are 5, so we are coming out of pocket regardless and I really don't want to be at the mercy of the train schedules. I'd be fine with just CT, but the kiddos want to see the tower. If the kiddos aren't happy, no one will be happy. So it might just be worth hundreds of Euros. ;)

  7. It looks like this tour is available on the Solstice under Juneau excursions. Picks up at 8:00 and is 5 hours. Does that sound about right? I was just going to do mendenhall on my own, but from everything I've read it seems like we should not miss this.
