  1. I'm not a stick in the mud :p I was just offering my opinion. Can you imagine what the hallways would look like if every single person decorated it with tacky pictures and clipart...it would look like a kindergarten school...........aggggghhh .. there goes the ambiance.

As a whole, the posted photos of decorated doors do remind me of an amateurish grade school level class project. They really look bad....

But hey it's their vacation! If they want to decorate their door in a manner that befits a fourth grader, who am I to criticize? Just don't be offended at my derisive laugh as I pass by.

    See you on Lido deck!

  2. For those of you who have cruised a lot (and that's most people here, right?), do you decorate your door NO and/or see a lot of doors that have been decorated? NO, I'd guess only 1 in 100 are decorated, apparently most people on cruise ships do not find this to be an activity they enjoy.

I've only been on one cruise so far (another booked in 400+ days!) and don't recall seeing any doors that were decorated.

I'm thinking that striped black-and-yellow area of the floor..

is where sections of the hull may not have 'mated' quite accurately

during hull assembly, modular section by modular section?

Minor fitting mistakes are bound to happen during assembly of huge sections of pre-fab hull

and it's just too darned late to un-weld everything and start over

..so they make a little ramp to adapt floor level by the 1 - 1.5 inch error in elevation?

Surely it can't be like that, on purpose...by design ?

    Anyone ?.

I'm 99% sure thats a remotely operated flood control / fire door. In the case of flooding one can just push a button on the bridge (or maybe it's in the Piano bar?) and the doors shut. The black/yellow striping is to warn people to stay clear and not block the door with boxes, hoses etc.
