  1. Glad to hear that you are doing better. I totally agree with getting travel insurance too. Last December my dad was hospitalized and we (me and DH) decided to cancel our cruise a few days before we were scheduled to sail. My dad passed away a couple of days after I cancelled. Carnival was so helpful. We got refunds from them and the insurance company with no hassle at all.

  2. No - had to get your sail and sign at embarkation. But I will say that embarkation was seamless with the staggered check-in. No priority boarding of any kind and still never had to sit in a room and wait. Was wonderful. If you have a current passport photo they don't need to take your picture; they use that with your sail and sign. Debarkation, however, was pretty bad. That was pretty much a mess.

Debarkation was easy for us. About 15 minutes was cut of because they have stopped having you to fill out the declination form for customs.

  3. Pasta bella is one deck up from the buffet area. It is a pasta place on deck 11. We always eat there the first day because most new cruisers do not know it is even there so it is very quiet. Later in the week it gets busy as people find out about it. Have a great cruise . We love the Dream..

We do the same thing. Pasta Bella is always the first lunch. Service is fast because it is never crowded.

  4. I heard unconfirmed reports of a stabbing. They were requesting blood donations on board. I did see live stream video of them taking the guy off the ship and into a waiting ambulance, at the dock. He was alive at the time.

Ok...that sounds so much better then a murder. Any act of violence is bad...but I am glad to hear that he was alive when he left the ship. What a way to end a vacation.

  5. I looked at the grits and didn't try them. I am a huge grit fanatic. If you ever make it to New York and go to Bryant Park, there is a stand there that all they do is grits all kinds of ways. I tried them when we were there in November and they are so yummy and have that southern comfort to them!

I am from North Carolina so I know all about good grits and good sweet ice tea! Thanks for reading my review!

NEW YORK...grits? Say it ain't so. lol! :p Northerners don't know anything about good grits!! I'm just kidding...kinda. lol

Like they said in Steel Magnolias...Sweet Tea is the house wine of the south. LOL!!

I do have one question about the Punchliner. Is Jeff The Fun Dude still the MC? He was prety funny.

  6. This review is great. I was on the Dream in November and many of the things that you mentioned in Ship Talk are my sentiments too. The crew was very good and friendly. I didn't smell any sewage and thought the ship was pretty clean. Crowds were never an issue except after the muster drill and being held up at the elevator. We made sure to get to the shows early, so finding a seat was never an issue.

    The pictures are fabulous.

My only complaint about the food is about the grits at breakfast. I am from Alabama and we don't play when it comes to grits. The grits were waaaaaay to watery. The Dream is not the only ship that is guilty of drowning grits. The grits were the same way on the Triumph.
