  1. Wife's sister is looking for a 'beach day' in Grand Turk!  Any recommendations from recent travelers at this port!?  I would enjoy a place with some shade and a bar as well for my 'personal' enjoyment!  😉

  2. Going pre-cruise to Tampa Easter 2022 and looking for Channelside (prefer with shuttle to pier) as we have a young one with us..  Have been to Embassy Suites years ago, and am considering it again!  Any input on other venues would be appreciated!  Arriving day prior around 1 PM..

  3. Reside in Erie, PA and we are one of the few counties in Pennsylvania that is still in the yellow phase!  Then I went into the local convenience store today, and the sign for 'must wear masks' was missing, and everyone including the workers were mask-less! (except for the girl serving ice cream at the outside window).  🤨  I work P/T at the local Walmart, and ALL Associates and customers are required to wear masks at all times!  I wonder why some people can be so 'nonchalant' about it, yet the cases have risen steadily for the past several weeks!  At this rate, we will be stuck at 'yellow' all summer!🙄😒

  4. Bringing this back to the front pages in order to help others with the info we gathered about Seattle as Alaska cruising season is approaching again! :-)
Glad you did.. ! Been reading a lot, but what you did looks exactly like something we would like.. And we are definitely Sleep Inn fans.. Nothing fancy - just clean and comfy!..:)
  5. so far, I have:

Glacier Point Wilderness Safari (maybe) and 'shopping' in Skagway..

Helicopter to Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau..

on my wish (hope to do list) ! Any more ideas??:D

Jumping thread back up!.. Interesting topic and we got lost somewhere in Vancouver..!;)

I don't think of Chinese food when I go on vacations, especially to Alaska.. IMHO..!;)

  6. We did a R/T from Baltimore on the Pride, but stayed at a local hotel and had them drop us off and pick us up, so that was easy!..:) This trip, we are doing a REPO, so will probably go straight to the airport from the pier. I don't remember seeing a lot of cabs, altho' I may have been in the wrong area..

Are there really abundant cabs waiting?? Not sure what to use to get a quik trip to the airport or time involved..:o

  7. Driving from Michigan. We want to park at the port so we can get off the ship and drive off. Can anyone help with a hotel or city to stay on the way. It can be 1 or 2 hours away. Thank You. Our cruise is in Feb. Next month.
After our drive from Northwest, PA in November, I would prefer to stay in Baltimore proper, or at least at the airport hotels.. There are a lot of quirks on the way down once getting close to Baltimore, that make me say that, altho' I'd probably do a Park/Sleep/Cruise package at that point!:) The Pride was a little late getting into port and there were cars and vehicles everywhere.. Having someone local come and get us was so simple.. They knew their way around...:D That would be my choice again.. One never knows...
  8. Jane: Loved the review.. !! We are Dave & Denise who you met in the Red Frog, with our 'shirts' on.. A special thanks to your friend who made them for us..:)

We enjoyed spending time with you and Morgan, and especially for your upbeat attitude, knowing there could/would be obstacles to overcome during the cruise..

It is a pleasure to have met you both!!:D

Denise and I are booked on the February 'Journey' Cruise on the Pride from Tampa to Baltimore via the 'southern Caribbean' in 2017, so will be unable to join you in 2016 on the Pride, but wish you a wonderful sailing!!!:D Would LOVE to be able to sail with you guys again.. We will look forward to the opportunity!!

  9. I guess my main concern at this point, regarding the Sleep Inn is a place to eat close by..:o

I haven't really seen much, but maybe this query will produce something to ease my mind!:)

Well, we've been there done that, so I will send out a quik review of our experience.:)

We were greeted by Carnival as we drove across Pennsylvania toward Baltimore, with a phone call telling us not to arrive at port prior to 4 PM, as they were delayed due to an ill passenger/airlift! I immediately called the Sleep Inn and told them we'd need a later shuttle to the Port the next day. She said their driver usually isn't available that late, but they would make arrangements for us!:p

We arrived in the evening (Saturday) so traffic was a tad congested in downtown, but we made it intact.. Real nice hotel.. Staff is wonderful!

Arrangements had been made for a later transport, and the room was great!

Parking for our vehicle was in a fenced in area.. After the cruise we called the Driver, and he arrived within 10 minutes..

We also found several nice places to eat several blocks away, and tho' we were hesitant to walk thru the area, we had no issues, and it was just the wife and I.. There are homeless evident in the area, but we were not bothered by anyone.. Everyone in the city was quite friendly..! We will definitely go back to the Inner Harbor Sleep Inn on our next trip to the area..!:D

Just a heads up.. If using a GPS, have your final 5 minutes of directions written down, as we lost reception among the tall buildings of the city..;)

  10. Just booked Best Western Plus Elkridge last night for our 26 Oct cruise to Bermuda. This is our third time cruising out of Baltimore and third time at this hotel. Great price, great hotel.
Thanks for the 'heads up'..! We've never cruised from Baltimore, so after some research settled on the Sleep Inn..:p

If it turns out to be a dud, maybe we'll switch to the Elkridge Best Western, as we've heard good things..:)

If not, we'll stick with the Sleep Inn as you have with the BW!:D

  11. Anyway, Sleep Inn works fine, if you are already booked keep it, and enjoy the cruise!
Many thanks for the 'review'..:p I keep re-thinking my choice, but you have cemented my booking as a good thing!..:p

I think we'll even go to Mo's for dinner, tho' we will probably be earlier than 10 PM!:) I'll be sure to send out a quik review, as we sail in just over a month!:D

  12. Is there any difference between 7300 and 7302 on a spirit class?

Think only 7302 can handle three with a sleeper sofa..:o:p

We had 6264 on the Miracle and loved it, tho' I want to move up a deck..

Had center aft on Legend and hated it (4341..?), as I felt confined and there was no sun..

  13. Posted after my cruise this past March

I agree that the $15 parking fee for the 1 night is kind of tacky (just include it in the room rate), but otherwise it is a bargain.

Thanks for the review.. Good to know!!!:)

Have decided to just do the Park/Cruise package pre-cruise, and head part way home after the cruise, and stay along the way.. FREE parking!;)

And restaurants I can count on with reasonable pricing..

    :)

  14. Thanks.. I just talked to them 'live', and was told the $15.00 fee was the first nite only.. :) Mentioned that I had planned to stay one nite post-cruise as well, and was told that night would be $15.00 additional, as it was a separate booking (not under a Park/Cruise rate!:o I guess that is fair tho'..

    Looking forward to your comments!!:D

  15. Just called the Sleep Inn, they answered all my questions, and I reserved the stay and Park with them over the phone. Person on the phone was extremely helpful. They do charge $15 for parking the night you stay but its covered fro the rest of the trip with Shuttles going to the port at the top of every hour starting at 7:00AM.
Maybe I should have just 'called them', tho' in this day and age one would expect an answer back from their noted website/e-mail :o

I ended up booking directly thru their website for both a pre and post cruise stay for our sailing in November.. :) The hotel looks great, and is in the area I wanted..! Hopefully, it will all work out!:D

  16. Do you remember the names of the hotels? Thanks

Best Western BWI, Doubletree or Hilton Garden (Linthicum), HI Express or Home2Suites ..

I did a lot of research, and booked Sleep Inn Inner Harbor.. Looks like its right off the Expressway, and within walking distance to Inner Harbor area..

They have a special Park/Cruise Rate when booking.. :)

  17. We have a 10 hour drive from Michigan toy he port. Were cruising in Feb. With all this talk and problems in Baltimore I'm starting to think maybe we should drive straight to the port and park.
My TA suggested 4 hotels that offer 'good rates' and the required commodities, being long-term parking - shuttle (some included some not) to the cruise-port and back.. All are away from the 'downtown' area..

Pricing is $110 - 135. per night with parking included for the duration of the stay!:) I'm thinking I will do that pre-cruise and then just drive 'half way back' post-cruise and stay in Pittsburgh for the night!:D
