  1. Hubby promised to be respectful and not go where he shouldn't. Of course I had to remind him that the VOV cruise is not inexpensive and that he would be dispatched home on his dime and no refund for his cruise expense.  Also told him they would not do the same to me so my bucket list cruise will continue - I hope.  BTW, I always wondered where service dogs on ships go to potty. Now I know.  Thanks all.

  2. Son and his fiance are planning a small, simple wedding ceremony in Juneau which will be our first port of call in September. Arrangements are being made with local vendors rather than thru the cruise line. The plan is to return to the ship after the ceremony in town and have dinner in the main dining room. We will all be dressed in wedding finery. There are 16 of us traveling together on this cruise and all have our reservations linked for early dining.

My question is whether you think the main dining room will be just as special as a specialty restaurant for the wedding dinner? This will be the first cruise for most of the group and the main dining room is gorgeous. Thanks

  3. Yeah - kinda what it looks like. Thanks for all the replies. Heading to C&A to check that box for no upgrades. An aft Royal Family Suite would work but that's just a dream. I'd pay $400 gladly for that upgrade. In the meantime I'll look forward to that corner aft balcony and get on with son's wedding plans for this cruise. Life does not get any better.

  4. Currently booked in 7388, corner aft balcony on Explorer of the Seas for Sept. 2016. This looks like the perfect cabin to host a party on the balcony. Being a Crown & Anchor member, what would be considered an upgrade should they call me? Not likely but what if? There are only 2 of us in the cabin but at least 10 in our group - all family.

  5. We have 7388 booked for Sept. 2, 2016 to Alaska. We've have midship balcony before but this is our first aft. We hope the balcony is large enough to hang out on with the rest of the family joining us on this cruise. Son will be getting married in Juneau and so far we have 10 people with booked cabins. Soooo excited.

  6. Cruise booked on RCL Explorer of the Seas for Sept. 2, 2016. We have a wedding planned in Juneau. Hubby is an avid kayaker and wants to do a kayak trip in one of the other ports Skagway, Victoria or on Tracy Arm Fjord. Any suggestions?

  7. Yep - roundtrip Seattle. We called Vital Statistics in Juneau and spoke with Tammy who explained how to get the license mailed to us. Since we'll be in Juneau on Sunday when all offices are closed, we can mail the license applications with the fee plus a copy of our cruise itinerary and they will mail the license to us. Now need to find a marriage commissioner and a spot to have the ceremony. It's 11 months away and we're off to a good start. Thanks for help and advice to nix Skagway.

  8. Will be cruising RCL Sept. 2, 2016 with ports stops in Juneau, Skagway, Victoria. Taking son & fiance and daughter and boyfriend. Son wants to get married in Alaska while on this trip but not thru the cruiseline due to cost. They only want a simple & quick ceremony. Originally thought they would apply for license by mail and tie the knot at city hall or Justice of The Peace in Juneau. That won't work because ship is there on a Sunday and government offices would be closed. Next port is Skagway but looks like Magistrate's office closed on Mondays which is when ship is in port. Just called and Magistrate is out of office this week so can't call and ask questions. I think we can find a wedding officiant in either of those ports but how do we pick up the license? Any ideas?
