  1. Quite an eye opener! I'm new to Carnival but an experienced cruiser, mainly with Princess. I asked the steward about hooking up my CPAP and he said he would take care of everything. I asked if her would tape down the extension cord (that I brought brand new from home) so we wouldn't trip over it. He said he would take care of everything! Soooooooooo, we went on our merry way and got back to the cabin at 10:30pm only to find nothing was done as far as the CPAP. I took one of the pool towels and laid that across the cord and that's how it stayed for the whole cruise.

  2. When my friend died, it was either give up cruising or go it solo. I love solo cruising! I eat in the MDR and ask for a large table. I take the initiative to talk to people and they are generally eager to converse. I take part in trivia games and visit the casino-a great place to talk to others. I generally do ship excursions because private tours seem to cater to pairs. The upside is that there is no "well, what do you want to do?" nonsense. I do what I want , when I want and how I want! Enjoy yourself!

With all the discussion regarding straws it got me wondering.  Do you use straws for all drinking?  I only use straws for frozen beverages.  I much rather drink directly from the glass.  Maybe it was just the way we were raised.  My mother would turn in her grave if she saw us drink iced tea through a straw, LOL.  Not judging,  just curious.

I use straws for all drinks with ice-including iced tea and iced coffee because my teeth are sensitive to cold.

Thank you for yours!:classic_biggrin:  And for the advice.  You're absolutely right: it is very true that can happen to straws (found that out the hard way, many years ago with my kids' sippy-cup straws)🤢. "........................

You are too funny! I use vinegar to clean the kitchen and bathroom. It's a good sanitizer and gentler on the skin. Now that we have totally hijacked this thread, I will wish you happy cruising!

Nope.  I'm not washing out a straw on my cruise.  I use reusable straws at home, but I wash them in the dishwasher, thus ensuring they are sanitized without an annoying effort on my part. .............

Thank you for your civilized post! A word of caution about using the dishwasher for straws. It does not do an effective job of cleaning the inside of straws. After a while, you might see dark areas of mold. I don't use a brush but found that the long length pipe cleaners are very effective in getting the gunk out of the straw and you can throw it away.

  6. To the folks who are planning to bring their own plastic straws........how do you propose to discard them? If you dump them in the ship's trash, this is counter-productive to their goal of reducing waste. I would go with a reusable metal straw. It doesn't take up much room and is environmentally friendly as you are taking it home with you.

  7. Royal Caribbean and Princess are not allowing regular passengers into their cabins until 1PM. Has Carnival started doing this also? I don't mind and I actually think it makes more sense for the Stewards. I just need to know what time to get to the port.

Even certified service dogs are not allowed in chairs or in laps. On a leash on the floor or carried while walking. I made a suggestion once before and got negative feedback. I'll make it again. The ONLY way to stop this entitled charade is to make the reaction to it more of a problem than declining passage to an owner. Stand up in dining and LOUDLY protest. Refuse to be seated anywhere within eyesight of a pet. Get others and flood customer service with the same com[plaint. Schedule an appointment with the hotel director and write down the response for future reference. Remember, the ship may not be able to ask for certification, but passengers can. And there are those, and rightfully so, who feel it would embarrassing to an an actual service dog owner. Don't worry, they are easy to recognize. Not in strollers, not dressed up, not defecating in public places, not barking, not seen alone with different adults, and not being available to be pet. Protest. Be more of a pain to RCCI than they are.

Actually, they can ask two questions. This is from the ADA guidelines:   In situations where it is not obvious that the dog is a service animal, staff may ask only two specific questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform?Jul 20, 2015

  9. Thank you for all your answers. My TA is absolutely wonderful but she always defaults to Anytime or My Time Dining. It's just the way her system is set up and most of her clients prefer it. When this happens on Princess, I can go into my booking and change the dining from Anytime to MDR. I can change the bed configuration. This RCI site is just not user friendly.

  10. I book with a TA. I'm a frequent Princess cruiser and this is only my 2nd cruise on RCL. My TA defaults to Anytime dining on Princess and then I can go into the ressie and change it to the assigned dining I want. RCL has no provision for changing from My Time to assigned dining. I'm finding their web site clunky and not very user friendly. Do I have to call the TA again to change the dining time?

  11. New to RCL. Does their air program work the same as Princess? By that I mean-with Princess restricted air, you don't pay for it until final payment. On the non-restricted, you pay at the time of booking. I know it sounds stupid, but that's how it works. Do you get to choose your flights and seats? Any help will be appreciated.
