  1. The Colonnade was a sharing menu family style on the Odyssey class ships, the MDR is more like Per Se fair and the TK Grill is what it's says it is. My understanding and Kevnzworld has confirmed it's no more on the Encore.

Personally I was not a fan of the sharing plates it was more TGi Friday than Seabourn, but that's just my opinion, I'm sure others lived it.

  2. I agree the rooms look very similar to existing Odyssey Class ships, but the one difference is the woodwork, its all the same teak colour, so giving more of a yacht feel!

One thing the ship is wider than the current ships yet the floor plans look entirely the same as the current layout? I would have thought the cabins would have been slightly longer than shown?

  3. We've had the pleasure of sailing on all three new ships and in fact took Quest out on her Maiden Voyage

All three ships are practically the same if you did not know each ship you wouldn't spot the subtle differences

What makes a ship is it's crew and passengers our last three cruises have been on Odyssey and Quest and I have to admit the Odyssey crew were the best by far.

    Have a great cruise!

  4. You rarely see jeans anywhere on board the ships people wear suits, tailored trousers and chino and linen in the Colonnade and patio grill.

Dress code is generally advised each day in the Herald Seabourns own news paper.

If you are looking for a more relaxed dress code I believe Seadream don't insist on jackets etc in the evening

If you do however enjoy wearing nice apparel why not give Seabourn a go.

    Happy sailing!

  5. I don't know if the tote bags are cheap and nasty but there are also other differentiators that merit mention:

First there is the tote bag that proudly displays "Yachts of Seabourn" and not just "Seabourn" (or whatever they say these days). A nod to tradition of years past for the discerning veterans among us.

Then there is the tote bag model which includes the secret and secure zipper pocket, an important feature to those of us who know thoughtful design when we see it. If yours doesn't have the zipper pocket, well, you just don't have the full package, do you?

    Now you know.

    Happy cruising!

I also have the blue tote bag with the white and blue handles with the logo and Yachts of Seabourn in gold.

  6. 1) FOOD - Food with some seasoning would be nice, what’s wrong with garlic? The food can be excellent at times, but too much steak, not enough lamb, pork, fish and different poultry. After two weeks at sea it feels like the chicken or beef choice on an airline – boring!

    2) DRESS CODE - More formal nights in the main restaurant in tandem with fully relaxed attire in the Colonnade then everyone’s happy!

    3) SEVEN DAY MED CRUISES – Do away with these – they never fully sell out – get discounted and then the tone is lowered as you get the Hawaiian shirt brigade in from other lines. That might sound snobby but it’s true. (Perhaps Seabourn and her agents could offer deals to those who have sailed often with the line with targeted marketing, after all shouldn’t they be encouraging loyalty?!)

SMOKING - I know the thread said three wishes but just say NO to smoking.....Please!!

Oh and by the way the small ships are going, going, gone and are not coming back so please get over it!

  7. 1.Increase prices so that quality can be maintained

2.Implement a new themed restaurant to replace restaurant 2 which is coming to the end of its useful life

3.Stop hiring musicians who have never played together before and make sure that they can play requests from guests and that they are able to judge the type of crowd to keep them on the dance floor.

Good choices - hopefully the Hawaiian shirt brigade will be deterred!:D

  8. To be honest I don't know what all the fuss is about being smart on a ship, surely it’s part of the ambience and whole idea of a luxury cruise?

For those of you wanting more casual cruising there are plenty alternatives but please Seabourn don’t lover the standards any further!

  9. I have never personally been on any of the little sisters but understand the sentiments of those who have enjoyed their intimacy and style over the years. That said it is time to move on and the Odyssey class ship does I believe still provide a great amount of intimacy, especially on cruises of ten or more days.

Having enjoyed two to three cruises a year on the newer ships I can honestly say it has been nice to be welcomed back by familiar and new crew alike, you soon get to know people if you are a pleasant passenger.

It doesn’t fill me with dread – a larger ship, so long as there are plenty of new public spaces and more restaurants and bars. The new Hapag Lloyd Europa 2 has a similar amount of passenger numbers as proposed for the new ship and I believe their layout to be fantastic, with the contemporary styling and silhouette adopted on the Odyssey class vessels, Seabourn could truly create a beautiful ship the envy of the Seas. (Especially if the ships followed the colouring of the new Spa Pent House Suites which are extremely chic!)

Good luck Seabourn with your designs and I hope you canvass more passenger opinions before you finally decide what design the new ship will take!
