What about a Go-Go Traveler 3-wheel scooter? I don't see how it can be lifted down or up to the boarding ramp as it is too heavy and bulky. It can be disassembled, but I wouldn't trust the baggage handlers to know how. Anyone have experience with one of these??
I’ve taken our Pride scooter on planes many times. It has been scratched but never broken. I would recommend that you check it through and have the airline transport you to the next gate. Really easier, in my opinion.

In the past I’ve been picked up at the airport, taken to the hotel, picked up and taken to the cruise ship in a big van. Both my husband and I had scooters.
I lost the name of the company. Hopefully someone has used a company that can assist us.

Yes, Maggie is the best. Now having said that I would like to talk about food. There were a few times that either my husband or myself did not want what was on the Luminae menu and the staff let us look and pick from the MDR menu, especially on lobster night.

We have a Sunday cruise and our plane was supposed to leave Detroit Metro Airport at 6:55 Friday am. Plane was full with some people leaving on their cruise on Friday afternoon and another couple traveling to Aruba. Well, our plane was, at first, cancelled because they were unable to close the back door. Eventually, at the pilot's insistence, they were able to fix the door and all, but one, of the 155 people on board reboarded. People would make their cruise, others would get new connections and we are in our hotel waiting for Sunday am.

We were in one on the Solstice. My BIL estimated that it is the width of 6 regular staterooms. You will love it.

RuthK, looking forward to meeting you on the 24th. We'll also be on the ship for 28 days. Glad to read the OP's statement. But, I would hope that people in charge would talk with the people with holey jeans.

I remember during one of our first cruises on Celebrity, we were at our table with a couple who could not say one nice thing about Celebrity. They were HAL loyalists and found something wrong with just about everything. I think that was the downer of the cruise for me as I was having a good time. I've never been on HAL but I've heard things on this board and from others and I'm glad I've cruised on Celebrity. I feel that people who are very loyal to a particular brand will probably like that better than anything else they've tried. We each have our own likes and dislkes and it's always good to hear other's opinions. We just have to keep open minds.

Happy New Year to you and your Mom, Andy. Have a really good year and thanks for all of your help in 2015.

I would vote for "Over the Rainbow" or "Celebrate".

All CD's are different. Right now, I understand, Richard Spacey is the CD on the Ecliipse and Sue Denning will be moving on to another ship. The word is that Damian de Luarenzis will be the CD as of January 24th. Have never been on a ship with him. Tell all my friends:)

Merry Christmas Andy,
Thank you so much for being our informant and friend. And, especially for being available to us. I hope that this season is good for you and your family and friends.

I'm sorry. Didn't enjoy MUTTS on Princess and hope to avoid it on Celebrity. May have to bring my BOSE earphone to read by the pool.

Perditax,
Still enjoying your review. If you get a chance, try the carrot muffins in the am.

Enjoying your writing even though I'm a covered up grey hair lady on a scooter. BTW, I would never pull a I am Elite or I need to be admitted to MC. I just enjoy being on the water and watching people.
Have a great cruise and continue the writing.

Last year we cruised on the Eclipse on b2b cruises in January. This year we will again cruise on b2b cruises from the end of January to the end of February. And, we have booked the same cruises for 2017. We don't leave the ship so that indicates how much we enjoy the Eclipse, but we have been to these islands many times. Weather in Florida is never easy to predict. We have been in Orlando in February and only been to the pool one time in 7 days. Good luck. Enjoy the Eclipse. We will.

We were in 2136 for the month of January this year. I think my pictures are on my IPad. I'll try to post them but I'm not good at this. The only downside, IMHO, is the occasional noise from the buffet thanks to the carts on the tile. I really liked the room.

I called Celebrity this afternoon and asked the rep if the no Specialty restaurant was true, she first said no and then found something about it that said yes and, after we talked for awhile, called her supervisor and said that since we booked before Jan. 1, 2016, we will get our specialty restaurants.
If we want to go to one, then we will.

Agreed. We have only booked Royal and Celebrity on our European cruises and Michael's Club has been busy and a reason we booked the suites. Now, with 2/3 more rooms using Michael's and the concierge services, our next cruise has been devalued. We are paying over $3000 more for 95 sq feet and no other perks? Not a wise financial decision.
On our European cruises Michael's was well used and the concierges provided exceptional service. That level of service can not possibly continue with 2/3 more rooms (on Equinox it will rise from 22 suites now 66 suites). The level of service cannot be expected to be the same.
I am disappointed. I don't mind expanding my horizons and group of on board friends (I've done that be hanging out at the martini bar or other activities). I do mind that when I booked, and agreed to pay the additional money, I was lead to believe that I would receive the same level of service as on past cruises.
Looking at other cruise lines.
Wow, nice statement meant to demean me because I am booking 2 sky suites (b2bcruises). Let me tell you why. My husband is disabled and cannot climb into the Celebrity suite tub (we've tried it) and quite honestly the cost of b2b Royal Suites is too expensive. Now, we could have just gone on one cruise but we would like to be out of Michigan for 4 weeks during the winter months. We were in the Penthouse Suite on the Solstice and while we could have used Michael's Club, it wasn't necessary for our comfort. Never would I have put down people because I didn't feel that they should use it.
So, don't worry, while we can use Michael's club this winter, we won't because I don't want some people to snub me and whisper to others that we don't really belong there.

On our last 2 cruises, we were in a SS because it was necessary. We really liked eating in Select (meeting new people each night we were there) or we ate at the buffet which we liked because we didn't have to dress up. Lots of staff ate at the buffet while I saw nostaff eating in MDR. Upcoming cruises, we will again be in a SS but I'm not sure that we will eat in Luminae because we won't have a group to eat with and, let's face it, I think that they are more fun. I would like to go back to Select where the food and company is the best.

Hi Andy,We were on 4 Princess cruises with 2 being in the accessible mini-suite. One was in an aft suite. Another place where I think that Celebrity wins is in the width of the hallways. My husband uses a scooter (not a large one) and if the room stewards had their carts in the hallways, then he could not get through.
Otherwise, I agree with your observations.

Just a note about the overthedoor thingy, we brought one on the Eclipse last year and the bathroom door was too thick for the hangers so I couldn't use it if I wanted too. The good news is that there is plenty of storage in the BR and you don't need one.

Why are you insisting on Carnival? Like a previous person mentioned, Celebrity has great accessible rooms and the S class ships even have a ramp that makes it easier for a wheelchair to go out onto the balcony. We book the accessible sky suite and they have doors that open with a push button. Think about it.

I always call the hotel's concierge and ask if they have any advice on transportation and tours that are accessible. Just a thought.

I have traveled to New Zealand,Russia, Amsterdam and many other places on the airlines. The employees take the scooter from the gate and I see it again at my final destination. I take the key and put the scooter in neutral. Relax and enjoy your cruise.
