I hope you can celebrate your survival with your friends. I also hope that you knew getting those tattoos after cancer has other risks involved? Hepatitis A and B for example. Cheers to good health and many more celebrations.

Nope. In NY, professional, licensed tattoo artists must take (and pass) Infection Control courses and exams. Those rules exist to protect people from blood-borne pathogens and infections--like Hep C, which was often transmitted through tattooing before regulations and sterile practices were in use.

Tattoo artists also use a new, disposable needle for every tattoo. And they sterilize equipment between clients.

FYI: Hep A and B are viral and transmission has nothing to do with tattooing.

I suspect  you choose to do all those things to get noticed...Why would you object if people stared ?

You would suspect wrong. I have piercings and different colored hair because I like the way they look. I have tattoos to celebrate surviving cancer and coming through it happier and more centered.

And my Mom taught me that staring is rude. Didn't your Mom teach you that?

  3. I said "I'm starting to feel like I may not be welcome." That's not about being accepted.

It's about not feeling judged or looked down upon. No one wants that, no matter how confident and comfortable they are within themselves.

  4. I'm projecting a woman who is comfortable in her own skin, confident in who she is and how she approaches the world, and happy to still be here and experience everything with an open, giving nature.

In retrospect maybe you aren't (weren't?) as rebellious as your Tattoo Artist, piercing parlor and Beautician thought you were.

    Isn't life ironic?

I have no idea what you're trying to imply. Care to clarify?

I will tell you that you won't find many 60 yr old or older with pink hair, tattoos, and piercings.

Well, we clearly travel in different circles 🙂  I do not care what the rest of the Oceania passengers think of me. I am quite comfortable in who I am and what I send out into the world.

I think a lot of folks on this board need to reflect on their posts here and perhaps keep a more open mind about people who don't dress the way they do or look the way they think they should look.

It’s not about how you look - it’s about how you behave and carry yourself.

I hope that's the case. But there are so many complaints in this thread about the way people look....it's hard to ignore the judgmental, superficial nature of the comments.

Enjoy your birthday cruise. O accepts everyone.

That's not the vibe I'm getting reading through this thread. At all.

I'm traveling with my two favorite people in the world, and we have a great time wherever we go, so I know I'll enjoy my birthday celebration. I suspect I'm not the type of person the rest of this board really wants to see on Oceania. Oh well. Too bad for them.

. Green hair, piercings, tattoos and nothing like I had imagined.

My hair is pink, I have piercings and tattoos, and I'll be celebrating my 60th birthday in the Spring on Marina.

I'm starting to feel like I may not be welcome.

I am CIA trained... and the classes are provided with pre-prep work.  You do little prep...  Time constraints....   they are fun  but dont expect anything substantial. You would be better served to take a CIA class  iin Hyde Park.....  O classes are more social gatherings than real learning  its VERY basic    You may assemble  1 item   not  an array

I've taken many classes at CIA in Hyde Park. And I'm not looking to work on my vacation, so not doing prep is a bonus 🙂

I just figured it would be a fun way to pass some time and many pick up a new recipe or two. I know nothing of English cooking (beyond bangers and mash), so this should be a lark.

To each their own. I make my own pasta, Asian dumplings, all manner of "ethnic" foods, you name it. My knife skills are above average.  Whatever.

I'm a trained chef, but realize I don't know everything and there's always more to learn.

I'll be taking one of the classes on my upcoming tour.
