Good to hear that   I will get an opportunity next week to experience a cruise with Sue as a CD.  I am never concerned about who is the CD, but I have read so many nice things about Sue.

I think we're on board with you jagoffee.  I'm excited to sail with Sue  again.  She was cruise director on board Eclipse 2013 Canary trip we took.  She was the most memorable personality on the ship.  Wonderfully social, funny talented lady!

  3. Just received an email from RC about the cancellation of my cruise Feb 3rd 2019. We decided to rebook a week after Feb 10th under the same conditions. Good thing that we haven't booked any flights yet !

Please would you mind sharing the details? do you mean the 17th sail Western itinerary? did they price guarantee on this?

    Or is it prevailing rate?

it would help me to know ASAP!!! thank you

  4. Thanks for the update. How long will they hold the cabin for you,and did you have to put a deposit down?Did you speak with anyone special or just an agent? Thanks

They're holding till mid April.. I spoke to resolutions. No deposit was required.

  5. Looks like this sailing is now closed to the public

thanks for the heads up. I called RCCL this morning, 02/03/19 can't be booked. They still, however refused to commit to it being a charter... They did, however allow me to hold a cabin on the allure for another date, without cancelling my current one on 02/03/19. You see, we had this trip planned to be fllowed with an Edge cruise on the 10th & so if the 3rd is a no go- well I'll at least be able to get the same ship, cabin and itinerary on the 17th.

As it's been explained to me, once things become official and we get bumped, they'll change the new booking#, over to the existing 02/03 booking#, and apply whatever perks they'll be dishing out onto it. I gotta say, this whole thing is irritating! RCCL can do as they damn well please, but we're locked into non-refundable bookings in order to get a reasonable rate deal. Would seem the cards are stacked in their favor so I don't think I'll continue to book with this cruise line.

  6. That stinks. It's advertised as an "all gay cruise" and cabins are still showing as available and people on the Roll Call don't know what is going on because RCI won't tell them one way or another.... stinks.

They are still claiming there's no listed charter...

Agree and surprised there are still categories advertised for sale. It would not be fun at all to be a passenger on board a ship that has a large contingent of a specific charter group - regardless of its nature - that would dominate the venues on board.

Apparently the entire ship is not sold out to the group and the cruise line is trying to sell out the ship as they typically would on any cruise. But to not have some notification that this particular itinerary is accommodating a large charger group with a specific agenda is not fair to those who would unknowingly book their family as well.

Right-any large group can completely change the vib on a ship!

I called RCCL again-still no info as to the Allure being chartered out. Requested to spk to Guest relations was told there could be a group-but don't show a full charter at this time... We would not get back any deposit to change ship and sail date if our deposit is a non-refundable-which our's is. We are all better off if the whole ship is chartered because RCCL will give us options. Also the agent mentioned that they are not permitted to release any info on groups booking on a particular sail date because their rights have to be protected...F-what about my rights?

Ok, so I then called Atlantis Charters. I asked if they had chartered the Allure for 02/03/19 Oh yes, I was told that it is -they will have the entire ship on that sail date. It is chartered.

However, cabins are not yet avail to book-call back in about a month. So I guess we'll hear from RCCL sometime after that...

  7. Hello, I’ve just booked the above cruise for end of a March. My wife and I are looking forward to dressing up “formal night” in Tux / Long Dress, however will be look overdressed on this cruise?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

My opinion here is you can never be overdressed. Let me explain what I mean here:

It's fun to be festive & celebrate good times. I have found that other guests enjoy seeing the pageantry too. do what makes you feel happy and others will feel happy too.

  8. Cancelling existing reservations at the last minute is complete BS. I hope they make it up to those impacted. I'm sure some accountant weighed the value of upset customers against the lost revenue of not implementing the idea for several more months when shows were not already fully booked.

I also hope the $79 per show options fails completely, but I'm afraid it won't. Let's say they set aside 50 seats per show for this "VIP" option, and only 2 people take the offer. What has this cost Royal? They will either fill the seats from the standby line (who end up with great seats) or the seats will go empty. I don't see any real out of pocket cost to Royal in either case. They may only make an extra $158 for that show, but it's almost pure profit (other than their very low cost for the drink). If, after a while, they only average 10 takers per show, they adjust down from 50 seats per show for the VIP option in the cruise planner to 10.

I'm a relative newbie with Royal (first cruise in 2010), but I'm already turning into one of those "I remember the good old days" people. :(

BTW...there's a new sitcom called LA to Vegas about an airline that flys...from LA to Vegas. A recent episode was making fun of the extra charges that airlines now have. They had credit card swipe machines to get into the bathroom, the overhead luggage compartment, etc. You had to pay to recline your seat, but the person behind you could pay more to prevent your seat from reclining. :D

Oh I gotta see this sitcom, I'm already laughing!

  9. Technically you really didn't have a seat. More of a slot. I hope you can secure a slot at your chosen time. They never really assign all the slots since the suite guests and Pinnacles don't even need reservations. 😉

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app

    Thank you John,

Agreed- a slot., Yes, again that is what I'm hoping-perhaps the concierge may fix it up. But this is so much more to me. Last minute irritation a few days before we sail? All the "pre planning" bs we do takes our time & then adds up to nothing? Why have pre cruise planning at all? The whole suave enjoyment and freedom of cruising at sea is being destroyed by pencil pushing nin-com-poops!

  10. I agree...so encourage folks to post to all the social media about the "sleazy show scam"...make "we will rock you" into "we will sock you (and your wallet)" - be cute, be catchy, be a good customer encouraging all to boycott this method of "charge after you bought:)"...

Again, be the good customer and push back if you hate this:)...

    I do & I have been.

  11. Our March Oasis cruise is showing both the free and the not so free version available.

The way I read it is that it’s a limited number of seats (premium seating) with a few perks (meet the cast, picture etc) thrown in.

I think that some sailings only offering the pay version is purely co-incidence and that the show was already sold out or close to it.

I could see them reserving 10 maybe 20 premium front Center seats for those willing to pay for that experience. F they were going to turn the entire show into a pay event it would have to be for a whole lot less than they are currently asking.

Yeah that's what I would think too. It could be sold outbut I had a rsvp from October! if they decided to try this, pay for stupidity-and the show was already a sell-out, shouldn't they have added a show for their experiment? The package idea may be what some people want to buy-ok-fine with that-But I already had my seats and it's wrong on so many levels to decide for me after the fact. Utterly insulting! Plus today they told me the original 6pm show I had has been cancelled-they did a mass cancellation of all comped guests. their story is that it is now a "different entertainment activity" and as such is only available as a package for purchase- exclusively.

  12. Very well written and totally agree! Look what has happened since so many of our regulations have been cancelled:) As customers we are not forced to pay the 79 dollars and RC has every right to try this out and see if people will jump on this “offer” so that RC can make more money off of us.

They should try it out on future cruises where the booking option has not yet started. That way if people don't like what they see they have the option to cancel the whole damn cruise. My issue is the sleaziness of their method.

  13. Royal should be careful , because their loyal customers may take their money elsewhere ... Everyone has has the right to spend their vacation dollars a any way they like ... Free country right ,.....

Bottom line there is a way of doing business and this sneaky maneuver of yanking seats at the last minute to sell their already reserved seats is the wrong way of doing it ...

Well said. It was a sneaky maneuver so this may very well be our farewell sailing with this dishonorable corporation.

Hey their profits are up yet greed has no ceiling

  14. Radio,

Can you do me a favor? If you have a chance go by room 8646 and see if the bed is located near the balcony doors. I have tried to figure it out with info on CC but haven’t been able to. Not a bigger if you don’t get to it (you are on vacation) 😀

If anyone else knows feel free to let me know.

    Thanks

    Nikki

Nikki cabin #8646on anthem has bed by balcony. I just checked onthe cruise deck plans website. It is totally worth the 2 or 3 bucks a year to check out many things on ships. There is a video of your cabin looks nice!

  15. Are you saying that that specific evening (or all)performance for WWRY is only available on a per fee ($79) basis.

Yes the entire show event has been cancelled and re-invented as the 79.00 package event. Nothing can be done is the final word. No solution empty apologies from the poor agents who have to push this BS! RCI is a toilet.

Its no wonder the RCI Stock is so high. RCI will continue to push the envelope of onboard spending to new heights. I for one, am getting a bit fed up with their money grabbing style. When is enough enough? Not to mention food in the MDR is so bad now to get a good meal you have to make it yourself in the windjammer or go to specialty restaurants. Loyal to Royal is like a setting sun. I hope they can succeed with the focus on "new to cruise mentality"... Ugh!

Yes I agree-I'm am totally considering cancelling all my upcoming cruises for this summer and next winter I have with them and going on a safari with the cash-should actually cover it nicely...

  16. I always get a kick out of people complaining about the price increases new pricing on new events etc. we all live in a capitalist society and this will never stop. never. give it up already. Plus I love how everybody is leaving out the majority of what that 79 covers meet and greet cocktail party etc. it’s not like you’re just sitting close to the stage my God people. Same people complain about “”socialism are the same ones who get up in arms when a price increases. Again this is capitalism at its finest and running like a well oil machine. You can’t have it both ways... you are either for all out capitalism or you want some socialism which in layman’s terms is regulated capitalism. For instance putting a cap on how high the profits can be on a pill or medicine, see we don’t have that in this country it’s pure all out capitalism

Capitalism is no excuse for bad form. A deal's a deal. I am quite frankly flabergasted!!!

In regard to your post: If you took the time to read back a day into ALL the posts, you wouldn't misquote. I for one gave all the details in regard not only to my situation, but also what the 79 dollar blood money fee offers.. I honestly recorded everything that has been occurring. Including being lied to by RCCL that the 6pm show on the 7th had been cancelled. Had I not found out the truth,(once my cruise planner was unlocked) they would have accomplished their deceptive plan.

Also, I'm not a socialist. We own our own business and we paid good money for this trip. The show was a part of our decision to take this particular cruise on this particular ship. Yes prices can change, so can perks-but not once I'm into a final contract. As I said earlier: A deal is a DEAL...

So in closing, If you are the type of person who accepts poor treatment-then lay down and take it.

I, for one, will not ever take it. the " give it up already attitude" of so many un-schooled people on how to treat others as you would wish to be treated... (you remember, the golden rule)? Is the reason why we're all being taken advantage of on many issues.

  17. Today's pay for a show grumblings sound like pay for a specialty dinner grumblings from the past. Twenty years ago everyone griped about a $5.00 charge for a steak. Today it's $50.00 for a steak dinner and you have to make your reservations on day one to get a table. The sad part is not the charge but the fact that so many will willingly pay for it. The ships are now marketing to the under 30 crowd that seem to never run out of cc credit.

True-in part. I never argued against RCCL selling a show or anything else they can sell for a premium fee. I suppose the new thing will be you get understudies (like a lower grade steak) if you get complimentary shows/food. Or you can pay to see the first run actors including a drink, great seat and photo (like choice grade steak with all the fixins) Well fine let the idiot suckers plunk down the money.

My complaint is that RCCL actively TOOK AWAY my, and many others, RSVPs that were in place. Some, I'm certain like mine had been planned for months. Then to add insult to injury they did it on the day the planner closed-5:00 at night by e-mail! Right before my sail date. Very harsh!

It is not fair-honorable to take away my rsvp because now they can make some extra dough! No one can m,ake me accept it.

I paid for a cruise which came with evening theatre shows-One which I really wanted to see. I made my rsvps before I paid final, & now tough on us? So I guess I have no recourse. They are just simply out of control!!!
