I to am going in Sept. and having a hard time deciding on a hotel close to the cruise port that seems CLEAN and SAFE. The reviews can be good to terrible. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance:)

So we are flying into LaGuardia and will need to go to a hotel near the cruise port. So I think I am seeing that taking a Uber is better, correct?

Good information folks. We may be walking, would drop bags after 10:30 then going to the Intrepid prior to boarding for a few hours. If we come in the night before would walk from the hotel 10-15 minutes down on 48th., but check out is 11:00 don't want to hang around the terminal a few hours then wait more time for our cabin to be ready. We don't care about missing lunch we will have a nice breakfast at the hotel and will be fine until dinner.
Thank you both.
Hello,
We have cruised many times out of Florida where we live, but noticed you said you have left from Manhattan before. We know nothing about the area or where to stay for a night or so before the same cruise boat on Sept. 29 sailing. Any thoughts on the best airport to fly in and a hotel? Thanks so much:)

It is 50 or 75 per person. We have done this cruise 12 times and going in sept and ride it all the time. Cheaper than a taxi but it doesn’t always have a set Schedule. There are a couple that go there but I can’t remember them, bc we always stay in old San Juan and go back and forth to the beach at Carolina. Just ask the drivers they are helpful

It does not take but a few min to get your bags. We always go into old San Juan to eat at La Mallorca. It’s a small locals place and you must try It!!! Been doing this cruise 12 years straight.

We have done this cruise 14 times and will be doing it for 15 come Sept. 9.
Yes, you can get off and on as many times as you want. We have never had any long lines reboarding but we usually don’t reboard till later in the evening. However, we have done it both ways and ran stuff back on the ship, but still not much of a wait

We flew to Vieques and did the kyack tour there. I can’t remember the name but will try to locate it for you. We liked it better because you were right in the water close and could put your hands in it! Amazing

You will need to Uber or get a cab to the beaches. There is much shopping and restaurants, bars within walking distance from the port. This is my husbands and I 15 cruise out of San Juan. We love it there and headed Sept 9th out of there. We always stay a few days on either side just to enjoy it there!

We have been on 10 cruises out of San Juan and have always stayed a few days pre and post cruise and have not once felt unsafe. My husband and I walk ALL over the city and have made friends now with the locals in a few places. Lots of children everywhere with families.
