  1. Our upcoming Mar 2017 Caribbean cruise will be our first "Guarantee" booking ever, made three months ago.

This was the only way HAL would even accept a booking of a Signature Suite on our cruise. Could NOT select a cabin of our choice, even though more than a year out. The cruise just 11 days prior, all Signature and Neptune Suites Sold Out already.

Has anyone else run into this situation? What were the results?

Just tried to book a March 2016 , no SS or SZ available on line, called a PCC and was told I could book a guarantee in that category, I told him I prefer to choose my cabin and could he tell me what is available; he said they only book guarantee any more.

Maybe it is because I am too close [10 weeks] to the sail date.

Or is this the way they are handeling all reservations now.

  2. I agree, the local vender's can't always add another bus or guide "on a simple phone call". Some of the sights or locations have limits. The vendors have limits.

If the excursion is severely capacity restricted, like helicopter rides, for example, the limit is the limit.

Do you really think HAL is making a lot of money at today's rates having your money for a couple of months? Airfares are expensive, do you pay them at the gate? You paid for your cruise 75 days out...

Some people like paying for their excursions in advance. Helps with budgeting.

I agree with Bruce, we book in advance mainly for budgeting reasons, that way we are not hit with a huge bill at the end of the cruise.

  3. Just heard the noon news and we are to get 4-6" this weekend.

I just walked around the outside of my house and can say there has been some noticeable melting, thank goodness.

    Hang in there Sail

Looks likr the Brilliance if finally leaving Tampa, no fog but rain.

  4. Please send some of that fog north to Boston. Fog 'eats' snow. :)

Hopefully it will be cleared up by April 20. My son is running in the marathon, I told him he better start training in snow shoes instead of running shoes.

He said not to worry, Boston will come through

  5. Fog came back this evening. I live in St Petersburg and can usualy see the Skyway bridge from where we are. NOT TONIGHT it is thick. It is supposed to clear tomorrow afternoon when the winds shift.

I agree I would rather have fog that blows away that 8ft of snow like Sail is experiencing.

  6. Not to change topics - but is it true the Microsoft workshops are going to be changed to Apple?

I got it in strictest confidence from one of the entertainers on board.

She got it from me, the new banjo guy replacing the adagio strings.

And she is correct, I heard it from the guy smoking a cigar in the next balcony.

He said he heard it from one of the guys that unhooks that big rope that keeps the ship from floating away in FLL.;)

  7. Sailing solo will be a new start for you. Doing so on a new (to you) cruiseline might be a very wise move. It will all be totally new, with no memories in every corner.

It will help a lot to be sailing with friends.

I know nothing concrete about the line, but just want to encourage you to consider this seriously. Might be just the pick-me-up for you.

    Ruth is right, as usual.

Go for it, sail and let us know how NCL was.

  8. glad you mentioned that...the banjo soloist is replacement for the duo performing classical music, who were a replacement for the original Adagio quartet.

Now I've opened a can of worms regarding musical entertainment!

Better the worms are in the can than in the apples !

    Carol

Well, you found me out CJ

Yes I am replacing the Adagio quartet, er duo.

Look for me in the daily bulletin, the adagio string [no plural, just string]

  9. One of the reasons DH and I prefer either dining with friends or dining alone for set dining on HAL is because we have been stuck with whining table mates before.

I am not saying that HAL is the same line it was 10 or 20 years ago, but sometimes a trip can be ruined by listening to repeated remarks about falling quality.

We so often hear from 2 cruisers on the same ship and their varying experiences and satisfaction. We try to judge a cruise on our own experience and try not to let others affect our trips in a negative fashion.

Could not have said it any better
