  1. Leaving next week on my cruise and the M&M Gift Exchange is to be an item between the $10-12 range ... something that the giver would like to receive ... no gag gifts and no white elephants. That leave me wide open to come up with something special and unique.

I'd be interested in hearing what other people gave or received at similar events that they really liked.

I live in Ohio in a small town where Smucker's is made. I gave some items like a magnet, a very small jar of jelly and a keyring. We also went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and purchased a magnet and keychain.

  2. Now that I am finally caught up with this review, it is day 3 of our short 5 day cruise. 5 days is way to short, I feel like the cruise is almost over.

This morning we had breakfast in the dining room, I had pancakes and bacon. Very good. I have had no issues with the food this whole trip so far.

I have never been to Belize and I have never been to a tender port. I told my husband I wanted to do a Royal excursion because I didn't want to get left behind. We chose to do the Barrier Reef snorkel and Starfish Island. We had to be in Studio B around 8:45 am. They made some announcements, we waited around and then finally time to go to deck 1. Once on deck 1 more waiting around, waiting around and then onto the boat for our excursion.

I do not get into the ocean, my husband does. I will say that no excursion will be perfect for everyone. People were complaining that they didn't get to snorkel as long as they liked, one person complained the water was too cold. Hey, I'm on a boat in the middle of the world life could be worse. My husband thought the snorkel time was just right. After everyone was on the boat it was time to head to starfish island. This is a really cute island, the weather was perfect, they had drinks and food. the bathrooms were modern and clean. Lots of chairs and a covered area to eat. They also had a nice play area for younger kids.

We walked around the island and saw a starfish in the ocean, pretty cool.

Once we got back on the boat we headed for the ship. Some people were going to go get on another tender and go into Belize but we were tired and hungry so Windjammer it was.

Currently still in our holding position in Belize. Everyone should be back on board by 4:30 pm. My DH is taking a nap as I type this and I am about to get cleaned up for dinner. Our plans tonight are to see the Headliner show staring Greg London. I will check in later and let you know how that is. Any questions, just ask and I will do my best to answer.

Do you think there would be enough time to take a tender over to Belize City and still get back on the ship after this excursion?

  3. That's not bad. On Vision, they offered it with only 3 days left.

We are going on Independence of the Seas next month for a 5 night cruise. Does anyone know if they offer them on the shorter cruises. I was looking at the drink pkg. but was hoping they may offer the drink card some time during our cruise since we do not usually drink that much.

  4. That's interesting.

We were on Vision last week and both my wife and I got bit by something on our stop in Belize. Nothing on the other stops of Cozumel and Roatan.

When you were in Belize were on an island excursion? We are going there next month and doing a snorkeling excursion and was wondering if we should take some kind of bug spray. We are not planning on going into Belize.

  5. Verizon smart rewards and aarp (reward for good) , has $100 gift cert. for $90.(10% off). Purchased this morning. They go pretty fast and are not online all the time.

I just went on line to buy some also but they say you can not use them to pay off an existing cruise. I was hoping to use it to do that or OBC.

  6. Looks like this is south of the port. Would this be a good place to go snorkeling? Is it far from the port? If we take a taxi, where should we ask to be let off? Is there a fee to go here?

What are your thoughts on Mambo Beach? This will be our first time to this beautiful island and would like to find a beach with amenities to relax and enjoy the day.

  7. We have a transfer from the airport to the ship (Jewel of the Seas) when we are at the airport, where do we meet for the tranfer/transport? Are they in a specific location with signs?

Do you remember the cost of the transfers? Also do they automatically take care of your luggage when you get to the pier or is it our responsibility?

  8. Last I heard it was $25 per person for a lesson and I think you get an hour on the board. I'm going there for dinner tomorrow so I'll double check for you.

Thank you that would be great.

  9. Haha thank you very much! My friends and I often joke about the unprepared tourists that come through so I thought I would help.

Frederiksted is my home and I hope you get to spend some time here, west is best after all! I have posted quite a bit about my favorite beaches and restaurants but here's the condensed version for you: when you get to town follow king street north past the pier and out past the carnival grounds. You'll see the baseball fields on your right and Freedom City Surf on your left. GO TO FREEDOM CITY. Say hi to Pi (the owner) in the shop on your left and maybe get a t-shirt, then go to the bar. Get a rum punch from Erica and some shrimp tacos. Relax on the patio or the beach until it's time to leave. An easy 10 minute walk up the beach will put you back on the ship.

    Enjoy! [emoji2]

I was wondering if you might know how much they charge for lessons on the paddle boarding? You have been so hopefully with the information you have provided on the island.
