This is a head's up for anyone on this cruise, having received the shore tours brochure I noticed that for the St Kitts call on Mon 11th Mar there weren't any tours to the St Kitts Scenic Railway so I emailed the railway to see if I could book direct & there response was 'as a cruise ship guest all booking must be through the cruise line'. So I emailed Fred & there response was 'unfortunately we are in Basseterre with 2 other ships on 11th Mar and this means we have been unable to secure tickets for the railway. We have looked at several avenues to rectify this situation including the possibility of amending the call date, but to no avail. We will continue to be in close contact with our tour provider, Should any tickets become available that enable us to offer this tour, we will add this to the programme and notify guests by letter'. The other 2 ships in that day are, Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas & Marella Cruises Marella Celebration, I hope this info is of help to people planning there shore trips etc.

1 February Depart Barbados 19.20 Arrive 2 February LGW 07.40.

 

I understand that we will be able to stay on the ship until we depart for the airport in the afternoon. When we were on a South American cruise with Fred a couple of years ago we were offered a shore excursion in Lima on the morning of departure. I hope this will also be the case in Barbados, but others may be able to advise.

I am going on one of these cruises at the end of Feb 19, does anyone have a rough idea of flight arr/dep times (I'll be flying from Gatwick)? also on debark day do they offer some sort of excursion or some to pass the hanging around time from when you leave the ship until the flight home?

Golden is doing Alaska inside passage r/t from San Francisco 10 days for 2015 Summer and South Pacific/New Zealand for 2015/16 Winter.

I have pre-ordered a New York Explorer pass 5 attractions from Smart Destinations for my up coming pre-cruise visit in October and notice that apart from Top of the Rock & The Empire State Building virtually everything else is closed on Xmas Day so you will need to plan accordingly but at least unlike London they do have some public transport running on Xmas Day!

BVE packages used to be offered in the UK (I did one on Sea Princess in 2006) but were stopped about 5 or 6 years ago "security issues" being the reason given when I asked Princess about it.

Just looked at National Express website for that date and cost would be about £55 for four people and its direct from Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 to Southampton coach station and takes about 2 hours and a lot cheaper than a cab or car service hope this helps.

Dear PescadoAmarillo, What are you going to do for Winter this Year? Emerald won't be on the 10 days out of FLL anymore its going to Houston for the 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise. Keep up the blogs they are always a good read.

The 2015 dates for Ocean Princess Scandinavia & Russia are, Sat 20th June Sat 18th July Tues 25th Aug & Tues 8th Spt. These are the 14 day RT from Dover cruises hope this is of help.

Travelling from Rio to Santiago on Golden Princess departing 3 January 2015.Calling into Montevideo after Rio and Buenos Aires.Need for Yellow Fever Vaccination for Uruguay if travelling from an infected country ie Brazil?Any advice from others who may have done this trip .

You should be able to get a yellow fever vaccination from your GP or a Travel Medicine Clinic and for further info you might want to look at http://www.nathnac.org (a UK Government funded website) I hope this helps.

The train from Greenock to Glasgow takes around 35-45mins depending on no of stops and is quite frequent about 3 per hour during the day and will probably be cheaper than Princess trips not sure how far from port to station though.

I'm sorry if this seems like a silly question, but what would be the dates of Emerald's last Caribbean cruise?

For the 2012/13 season it is 16th April S Caribbean Medley 10 days and

for the 2013/14 season it will be 18th April E Caribbean Voyager unless there are anymore changes.
