  1. I played quite a bit in December 2017 when I normally would not. I think the minimum was $10 (maybe $5) but single odds was the reason I normally don't. They bumped the odds to maybe 2x on certain numbers if I played $30 or so, can't exactly remember. Played primarily to take a break from the card tables. I will say, I won a fair amount on the craps tables but certainly would have won more with better odds.

  2. That sounds promising! If my kids had it their way, one would dine exclusively at Jamie's and the other one at Johnny Rockets lol.

Enjoy the Jamies/JR desires while you can. My girls are in there 20's now and I long for the day when a JR burger with ketchup worked. This cruise was Sushi/Champagne delivered at 5pm every day to the room so they could enjoy in the Jacuzzi while pre-gaming.

If I recall when my daughter got the 105 CP meal at Chops, I think she stopped at 105 CP first and charmed the MD so the Chops guy got on board pretty easily. We had also dined at Chops night one and I think our waiter was probably happy at the end of the night.

  3. Thanks for all the replies so far. Another question I thought of...if you are eating in one specialty restaurant, can you get food sent to you from a different specialty restaurant? Just thinking of my two kids who probably won't care for 150 CP but hubby and I would want to dine there.

We sailed in SC a couple of months ago on Allure and my daughter had a dish she wanted to try from 150 CP while dining in Chops. They accommodated her without hesitation. She is pretty good at getting things she wants ...

  4. We recently made a 9:15 out of FLL. Four of us were in Star Class so left our room via escort with a bunch of luggage about 7:30am. Had priority check-in and TSA precheck so were at the gate no later than 8:15am with plenty of time. Can't tell you how much time those three things combined saved but I'm guessing quite a bit. Regular TSA lines didn't seem too bad but you never know so having TSA precheck would be advisable at a minimum.

Depending on how early you get off you could easily make it EXCEPT if the ship is late or customs delays. No way to predict that.

  5. I made this exact move (8730 to 1740) on the Allure just while ago. Had a great price on the ATS and the move to the RLS was $4,800. My in-laws wanted to join my family of four on the cruise so getting almost 2x the space in the RLS turned out to be a great move. Also was able to grab the connecting CLS (1738) for our friends. Left the connecting door and balcony open and basically had an awesome setup. Extra space, nicer rooms, better location (suite complex).

It would be a simple choice at $2,000.

  6. Royal's inconsistency across the fleet in how their benefits are applied is disappointing. Whether something is included or not is Royal's call. For any level perk it should be consistent. If I sailed in a Star Class accommodation on Harmony and then sailed Allure, I would be annoyed if I was not charged on Harmony and then was on Allure. It wouldn't so much be the additional $$$ but expectations not being met.

This should be one of the easiest things to get right.

  7. Beagledude, we have stayed in the RLS 3 times on Allure and Oasis and I just checked my pics and I could not see a pic with the balcony adjoining door. There's a wet bar on the balcony against the glass divider to 1738. I'd really assume there is a door that opens but I can't remember.

There is no balcony divider that opens between 1740 and 1742. I have attached a pic of the interior door to 1738, to which we never heard our neighbours in all three sailings.

If you expand my signature below you will see a link to my RLS review. I also have a live review from 1740 in August 2016 but it doesn't focus solely on the cabin. Sorry, I wish I had a pic for you.

Super thanks. I'll check your review. We have stayed many times on Voyager/Freedom RS but this is our first time on one of the bigger ladies. I was looking at some pics right around the bar and the divider looks a bit different. Wouldn't be the end of the world but I told my friend instead of having a small balcony in a CL than the OS, he could have a much much bigger one!

  8. We have had them opened on CLS 1732 and 1734. I'm doing some research in my pictures to see the balcony status on 1738 to 1740.

Thanks for looking more. Hoping so since our friends just moved from an OS next to us when we moved from an Aquatheater to the RLS. Unless there is some physical reason I would think it can be opened since they are connecting rooms.

  9. You're not doing self debarkation and plan on making a 9:15 am flight? I would start making a plan B. They frequently don't start disembarking passengers until 8-8:30. Then you have to find your luggage, go through immigration line and hail a taxi. When you get to FLL you have to go through security (sometimes global entry line isn't open). I would check out a different airline with better flights or just plan on spending the night in Ft Laudeedale and take that early flight the next day

We'll self disembark for sure. My understanding and hope is being in Star Class that it will be expedited.

  10. We had a choice of a 5:15pm or 9:17am out of FLL off of Allure on 12/03/17. Wife wanted to get back to SoCal earlier than later so made me book the early flight. Based on what I have read, assuming no issues with coming into port it sounds like we should be OK given that we are staying in a Star Class suite, have Global Entry/TSA Precheck and flying in the front cabin. I'm hoping our Genie will get our luggage off for us as my wife and two daughters pack a ton and don't want to be dragging everything around so early. One cruise we had one bag that weighed 75 pounds. Nothing but shoes. Hoping ...

  11. Just did this in late May. The small boat excursion will get you much, much closer to the South glacier as well as go to the North glacier which the ship will not. In my opinion, well worth it. From what I have read, most seem to agree.

  12. We'll also have a butler in the Haven. You are going to love your suite! Some have complained about the walk to and from the Haven area, but the space, balconies and views are well worth.

We are also Beagle lovers :D

We've got three beagles at the moment. MIL is presently in the air flying in to be their concierge for the week.

  13. We are also in the Haven. We have a Haven owner's suite on deck 10. We had the exact same suite two years ago on our last Alaska cruise ( Pearl). Wondering what the butler's names are on the Jewel?

We must have the owner's suite on the other side on deck 10! Someone in another thread mentioned the butler's name was Theodore and I assume he takes care of all the forward suites.

  14. We are doing the same thing with our young-adult daughters on the Jewel. First time on NCL but many times on RCCL in the Royal Suite with them on the couch. They have never complained so hoping the couch in the OS is OK. My young ladies may complain but only once after I tell them they can have an inside room instead. At that point I'm sure it will be quite comfortable.

  15. We have sailed six times exclusively on RCI. We travel with our two young adult daughers and are fortunate enough to always stay in the Royal Suite, generally about 1,300 sq ft and always have been treated very, very well. We have heard that the "suite life" on NCL is superior to RCI. We are looking at an Alaska itinerary in a Haven Owner's Suite on the Jewel. Have a few questions and want to set expectations appropriately.

I understand that the Owner's Suite on the Jewel is not in the Haven complex and is four or five decks below the Haven. Not too worried about that since it being an Alaska cruise, probably won't be spending time at the pool. Jacuzzi and breakfast we would use. Any issues outside of it not being right there?

Also not too concerned about the 800 sq ft for the room as long as there is a queen soft that is fairly comfortable. Any experience with the accommodations?

We usually dine in the specialty restaurants and have not sailed on RCI's largest ships so we are used to rotating between just a couple. I'm looking forward to having a larger selection.

Any insights or comparisions would be welcome. We are looking forward to trying something different!
