We were on Jewel 2 weeks ago, I did a review and posted all the compasses. Unusually all the shows were after dinner, ie for our late seating the show was 10.15 or 10.30 every night. Of course things may change a bit by the summer but the production shows will be the same.

I have been looking for your review but I can't find it!  Could  you please give me a link?  Thanks very much!

No advance planning needed on this ship.  Everything revolves around the 2 traditional dining times, so it's easy to see the show of choice.  There will be a show for the early seating ,which is after dinner...and the show for late seating is before dinner.  If you do MTD, you will eat at a time to see whichever show you prefer.  Both shows are the same.

Sometimes, there will be a "late night" show, which begins after ALL dining is finished...so anyone can go.

All the info will be in your daily compass.

That's very helpful !  Thanks for the details.

FYI, there may not be two shows every night.

On Grandeur, typically on the first night there is only one show.  And sometimes later in the cruise, there also is only one show.

Ok, that's good to know. I am not so concerned about having a show every night, and I doubt I would even try for two if they had them.  Just curious about how everything works!

    Thanks!

  4. I think I understand how this works, but want to be sure. First time cruisers, we will be on Jewel of the Seas this summer.

If we choose MDT at, say, 7:45, I think this means that there is one section, (maybe the second deck?) of the MDR where we would be booked for the whole cruise, though we may not have the same table or wait staff.

Then, If we want to eat at another restaurant,  we can just cancel the MDR and book the other one.

Or we may  even be able to  book the other ahead of time .

    Have I got that right?

    Thank you.

It's all behind the scenes stuff.

Consider your home internet as the ship.  Your router would be the ship's WiFi.  The data for the RCI app is stored on the router (rather another computer connected to it).  Unless your device accesses the page and you sign in to the wide internet, all data is stopped at the router and can't get to your modem.

It's really the same idea as hotel WiFi, except Royal adds the additional layer of an app that can still function even if you don't sign in to the page that allows you to get "outside".

To make things even more confusing - some cruise lines are allowing access to CruiseCritic even if you haven't paid for internet access.  If you really want to know more, look up internet firewalls and captive portal logins as that's what allows this to happen.

That’s clear enough for me. Thanks!

My package will work on land so I am not particularly worried about it, will just be careful to stay in airplane mode while on board.

    Welcome to CC.

You can do a Google image search for any deck 2 OV cabin on any Radiance class ship - that should give you an idea.

Thank you.  I did try searches before posting, and I have done more since I read your specification that they are Radiance class, which I didn't know!) but the pictures that come up are really mixed and I haven't found one that is clearly cabin 2510.

  7. Hello, we are first time cruisers,  hoping to book soon!

We're looking at a Baltic cruise - cabin 2510 on Jewel of the Seas has been proposed.

We don't plan on spending a lot of time in our room except for sleeping, but I did want some natural light.

Can anyone tell me how big the portholes are?  Maybe post a photo or two?

I have read some pros and cons about the 2nd deck, but we are thinking it might be fine for us.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cas
