  1. Does Carnival provide lounge chairs on their aft-view extended balcony? We had our first aft-view extended balcony on the NCL Breakaway and fell in love. We are looking at a Mexican Riviera cruise, but I don't want to spend the extra money if we'll just have regular chairs out there.

    Thanks!

  2. Glad they were able to accommodate you so well. What did they put in the quesadillas? Just curious... I would think like black beans, corn and green chili's

    or spanish rice maybe?

I actually don't remember there being rice or beans in it. I think it was just veggies. It was more like a veggie panini with quesadilla instead of bread. It was good, but the other meals were much better. Rice and beans and the tofu stir fry were our favorites.

  3. Sounds like you had a great time! I cruised NCL for the first time in the fall and needed gluten free foods. I found them to be very accommodating, too. I had UDP and ate in specialty restaurants every evening. They knew that I was GF (I think they code your card..??) and the waiters were really helpful. I was really impressed with how well they handled it. I didn't get sick a single time. I'm glad you had a good experience, too! :D

That's awesome! I think we'll try some specialty restaurants next time!

  4. My husband and I took this cruise to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. We were in an aft large balcony and will probably never be able to go back to a regular balcony after spending so much time on those loungers!

We bought spa passes and used them 4 or 5 of the 7 days. We found it to be well worth the price and enjoyed relaxing there. We went to Howl at the Moon one night, but did not attend any other shows or parties. We spent most of our time on our balcony or at the spa.

This is the first vacation we have taken that we were no longer eating meat/fish and dairy products, and were worried about what we would eat. I e-mailed the access desk in May to request vegan meals, and then followed up a week before the cruise. There was a note in our room the first day acknowledging our request and telling us to meet with the maitre d that evening. We chose to eat at Taste every night. We weren't planning on going to any specialty restaurants and figured it would be easier to just go to the same place each night. We met with Johnson Dsouza, who gave us a list of appetizers and entrees that he had prepared for vegan cruisers. He also took our suggestions and came up with some great meals for us, including dessert! He took our order each night for the following night, and we just had to tell our waiter our room number when he or she came to take our order. He also asked if we would like breakfast and lunch as well, but we declined. I usually just have coffee in the morning, and my husband planned on sleeping in. We had lunch at the buffet or Uptown Grill (veggie burgers/chopped salads) each day.

We were given soup, salad, an entree and a dessert every night. Everything was delicious!

We booked an island tour with Heidi from Byways Tours for our first day in Bermuda. She was excellent and loves her island. We stopped several times to explore and take pictures. Lunch was also included, and she got us veggie burgers while the other 5 people in our van got fish sandwiches and fries. On our second day, we took a horse & carriage ride around St. George's with Crystal from Bronco Stables. We had lunch at Temptations (veggie burgers, again) and then took the Hop On Hop Off bus to Gates Bay/St. Catherine's Beach. We wanted to get the 3:30 ferry back to the dockyard, so we spent about an hour at the beach and then went back to the town square for some shopping. Before heading back to the ferry, we had some sorbet, iced coffee (me) and banana strawberry almond milk smoothie (hubby) at CV Cafe. If we ever return to Bermuda, we will have lunch there because they have veggie panini's and wraps. On our third day, we had planned on taking the Horseshoe Bay beach shuttle, but the woman at the visitor's center said that since it was raining, the shuttle may not run every 30 minutes. I got nervous about getting back to the ship in time, so we went to Snorkel Park instead and then walked around the dockyard. We picked up lunch at Buzz Cafe (inside the pharmacy), and ate on one of the benches in the dockyard. Hubby had the black bean burger and I had the falafel wrap without the yogurt sauce.

We had a great experience, and would definitely take another cruise on Norwegian!

  5. We took a tour with Heidi (and her adorable blind dog, Buddy) of Byways Tours, and she was amazing. There was a total of 7 of us seated comfortably in the van. There's no set tour, so she was able to get around most of the rain. We left the dockyard around 9:30 and returned somewhere around 4:30. It was a great way to see the island. We stopped a few places to explore and take pictures, and lunch is included. Heidi went out of her way to accommodate our vegan diet, which we appreciated. We also took a horse and carriage tour of St. George's with Crystal from Bronco Stables the next day. She was in the town square when we were there with Heidi, so she introduced us & we were able to see where she would be meeting us.

  6. It does not leave on a scheduale. It leaves when there are passengers. It won't take long to get enough on the last day. I did the shuttle on my last day, day 3. There were at least ten shuttles waiting. We did not wait very long when we were ready to leave in the afternoon. There is no need to do the ships excursion. You won't have to worry about getting back to the ship on time. The shuttle service is for cruise passengers to get there and get back in time. It is a great service for those who only want a beach day.

    Great! Thanks so much!

  7. We would like to go to Horseshoe Bay on day 3, but want to be sure we're back on the ship in time. Does the $16 shuttle fill quickly? Would we be waiting in line a long time to return to the dockyard? I'm trying to decide if we should just pay the extra money and go with the ship excursion.

Also, does anyone have a schedule for the shuttle? How often does it run? I tried searching and found that it leaves the dockyard from 8-3 and last shuttle leaves the beach at 6, but I like to plan and would like some kind of time schedule.

    Thanks!

  8. We're vegan and contacted the access desk in May to let them know. They emailed us back within 24 hours to let us know it was noted. We emailed them again last week just to re-confirm, and again received a prompt response that they are happy to accommodate us.

  9. Thanks for the tip! There would be two of us. Is that $100 total or per person?

We are taking a tour with Heidi in August. It's $100 per person. She was already booked two of the three days we are in Bermuda, so book early. You don't pay until you get there.

  10. Nice pics Hunniebee!

I want to rent a cart, but not sure its worth the extra expense. I want to keep cost down. Talk me into it some more would you.:p

Renting the golf cart is cheaper than doing a Carnival sponsored excursion, so if you really want to see the island, the cart is the way to go. It's a small island, so you can't really get lost. You'll spend a lot more money drinking and eating at Margaritaville if you spend the whole day there. We had 20 people with us on the cruise, and 7 of us rented the carts. The rest didn't want to see the island. We felt like we wouldn't really be in Grand Turk if we didn't go past Margaritaville, so we wanted to actually see the island.

  11. We rented two when we were there in August. Totally worth it! My new hubby, parents, brother & his friends had a lot of fun driving around. We even saw horses, flamingo's and donkey's walking around. We wanted to spend time at Margaritaville, so we didn't spend the whole day driving around, but Nathan gives you a map so you can stop and see all of the sites on the island.

  12. We got back from our cruise on Friday and had a great time in Grand Turk! Finding the golf carts was easy using the directions from the Destiny review. We just drove along the main road. We didn't find the lighthouse or Jack's Shack, but we didn't want to spend all of our time driving around because we also rented a cabana at Margaritaville and ended up getting off the ship late because of miscommunication within our group. We saw some donkey's, horses, flamingo's and dogs. We were able to drive right up next to the donkey's and horses...they must be used to tourists because they didn't budge. It was fun driving along and looking around. My husband, parents and I were in one cart and my brother (19) and his 2 friends were in another....even they enjoyed driving around in the cart! Some of the houses and buildings are gorgeous, and some you can tell have not been rebuilt since the hurricane. The people are very friendly and waved to us as we drove by.

  13. Where did he tell you to meet him? I din't think to ask!!!

I just realized I asked him and he didn't reply to that question in the email! Someone did a review and gave a detailed description with pics of where to find him...I will find it...

  14. I had the exact same problem! I called him after about 3 days and he e-mailed me a short sentence, "Confirmed."

He e-mailed me this morning confirming the golf carts and also confirming that we would be refunded if the ship does not dock. He must be busy. I was just getting worried because my cc info was in the e-mail.
