  1. According to the NCL website, 18-20 year olds can drink beer and wine in international waters except for Alaska/Hawaii sailings. Has anyone had experience with this lately? When I chatted with an NCL rep, she said that is not true and that 18-20 years olds can NOT drink onboard with parent permission  on any sailing out of the US.

Other reps told me that my 19 year olds could not be in their own room (next door to parent) and that they would not be able to check in online, but that was all wrong.  I am kind of losing faith in employee knowledge altogether....

I'm just looking for personal experience to set expectations.  I understand that they have to take the soda package either way.  Thanks!

  2. We are cruising for the first time on NCL and first time with our boys (14, 14, 12, and 3) next week, and I’m starting to stress.  How much freedom do people give their teens and tweens on the ship?  Where do folks/kids carry their room keys?  Is there a lanyard for phone/key that you love? How about passports when at ports?  How is the app for keeping in touch with kids?  How dressy do kids get for meals?  Are khaki shorts and a polo shirt ok for main dining rooms?  What do you do with kids during shows if Splash Academy is closed at 6:30 and at 10?

    Thanks!
