  1. W have had dinner there quite a few times and it has been good. The last time two weeks ago we went there on the Escape it was so bad I had them refund my money. The service was the worst, salad bar plates sat on the table over 25 minutes while the side dishes got cold. some of the meat was so tough you could not chew it.  The waiter brought new sides after we were finished eating. I complained at the service desk the next morning and spoke to the restaurant manager who said he was sorry and refunded my money and invited us back the next night. I told him I wasn't looking for another free meal and thanked him for the offer.

I'm new to cruising and am looking for some information.

I am scheduled on the Escape to arrive on Sunday, September 8 at 7am, cruising with my children and parents.  My father is marked for wheelchair help from Norwegian as he needs help boarding and unboarding (but can use his walker around the ship).  I purchased flights at 11:50 on Sunday leaving from Newark.  Before booking, I called Norwegian help line to ask if they thought it would be okay, and was assured that it would be (They advised 5 hours online, but though the 10 minutes wouldn't make a difference).  I planned to grab an Uber at the terminal and head directly to Newark airport.

Now I'm reading these forums and some people are reporting that it takes a really long time disembark at Manhattan Cruise Terminal, especially for big ships.  And when I download my eDocs it says don't schedule flights less than 6 hours after ship arrival.  I called back back to Norwegian help line and asked why the change in recommend flight times and they revealed...that they don't really know much at all.  (Is this typical?).  NCL just advised me to talk to the Escape staff after boarding to handle any concerns.

    So a few questions:

    1.  I will need to disembark with a passenger needing wheel chair assistance.  I have seen people advise carrying your own bags to disembark quickly, but that isn't going to be an option with small children.  How quickly does disembarking go with wheel chairs?

    2.  I heard the Manhattan cruise terminal is a long pier.  How far does Norwegian take the wheel chair?  How far will my father have to walk?

    3.  Can a porter push the wheel chair and help with luggage?

    4.  Advice?

Appreciate insight for experienced cruisers appreciated.

When I used this service in March the wheel chairs only went as far as the baggage area,. We then had to get a porter for our bags and I had to push my 88 year old mother in her walker the rest of the way.  I was told this was the way they would do this from now on. I was not very happy.

We are going to be in Bar Harbor on Sept 19 from GEM.  I hadn't realized it was a tender port (I was reading the wrong places apparently!). We are the first ship in port that day... we arrive at 8, other ship at 9.  We booked a 9:30 excursion (not through NCL).  Having been on only two cruises and never tendered, is that likely to be enough time to make our bus?

    Thanks!

It depends on what tender group you are in.

  4. I also was refunded for a missed port in September. I asked for a cash refund and was told I could come back the day we got back for cash or they would send a check.  The check arrived in less than 2 weeks.  The luggage tags you saw being handed out to a guest was for platinum tags, these are not put out with the others and must be requested. Sorry you didn't enjoy your time with NCL, I'm looking forward to my 20th cruise with them at the end of the month.

Just to be clear, unlimited beer is included with the show? We are sailing with the UBP, so free beer would be useless for my whole party, and I personally don't drink beer at all. Can you bring a cocktail in with you?

Yes beer is included and if you have the UBP you can order something else from the bar staff. Just let your waiter know, they will send them over to you.
