Hi
I’m booked in a 2 br suite on the Pearl on deck 11. I have 5 in the cabin. I know my wife and I will be in the king br and two of the grandkids will be in the second br. Does the couch in LR pull out for my oldest grandchild? I’ve seen conflicting info online.
thank you for any info.

Hi
I should know this, but how far out can my daughter, in a Getaway Haven cabin, make dinner/show reservations? I believe it’s 120 or 130 but not 100% sure.
thank you!

Thank you for sharing Sthrngary.
I hope the Pre-Cruise Haven Concierge Desk Requests pull through for us. We have sailed in the Haven on Jade twice and loved it, this time we are going on the Epic and looking forward to the dedicated bar, lounge, and restaurant.
Unfortunately I think I screwed up. I was able to upgrade from a Haven Spa to Haven 2 Bedroom, as I like having the extra space and bathroom. I fully understood that I would not have access to the Thermal Spa Suite unless I purchased a pass. Well that's great except I have been trying to 20 days to add this to my reservation and for whatever reason I can't. I contacted my PCC and the reservation line and they keep pushing me back to each other. I contacted the Pre-Cruise Concierge and they cannot accept any payments or add to my reservation. She said she put a note in my file and to make sure I check in with the Concierge as soon as we board and it should be no problem. I hope that works out as my boyfriend will be crushed and a little upset since he told me to keep the Haven Spa Suite and I really don't want to hear I told you so.....
You also reminded me of some other things I had forgotten since our last Norwegian cruise.
We have grown children but enjoy cruising without them. We have found that booking cruises which are longer in length (more than 7 days) and that occur between Christmas and Easter we encounter less kids onboard.
We were on the Gem this past September. At the last minute we decided we wanted the spa pass. Online it was too late to order so I called the concierge desk. The woman I spoke with said she put a note on my reservation and to speak with the concierge when we got on board. The spa did have our names and we got our passes. It does work.
have a great trip.

Just a reminder to everyone, I am trying to keep this thread data based so that I don’t have to weed through discussions/comments in order to find information that updates the spreadsheet.
I really appreciate cooperation with the goal!

Just off the Gem yesterday. I don’t know when it happened but smoking anywhere on deck 7 outside has been eliminated (all wall ash trays removed). Deck 13 bar, casino and cigar bar are the only options now.

Hi
We’re on the Gem this weekend for NE/Canada. Our cabin is on the starboard side. We’d like to be on the best side for views during sail in. What’s the best side, port or starboard, for Bar Harbor, Halifax, Sydney, PEI, La Baie and Quebec City?
Thank you for any tips.

Hi
For my upcoming cruise I want to be on the best side for sail in to each port (our cabin is starboard). Which side, port or starboard, is best for Bar Harbor, Halifax, Sydney, PEI, La Baie and Quebec City.
Thank you for any tips you can provide.

My wife and I sailed the POA in March 2018. It wasn’t rain free but not enough to hamper our exploration of the islands. I think the rainiest day was on Hilo. Overall the weather was fine. Honestly we were happy to have some clouds around. If it had been 100% sun it would have been uncomfortably warm.

how much is for the spa if you purchase it by the day? the first day it generally doesn't get used, and of course the last day.
My understanding is the pass is sold for the week and not daily. It can be $20 cheaper to buy online, in advance of your cruise, compared to price when you purchase on board.
-
If I remember correctly the “wine by the glass” has a $15 max. per glass price point.
-
On an upcoming cruise I did purchase the spa pass in advance. On our sailing it was $20 cheaper per person to sign up online. We were going to do it anyway so figured I’d save the $40.
As for excursions, if there’s one or two you really want to do I would sign up now. I’ve waited, like you, and lost out when the excursion sold out before we sailed.

Looks like no Halifax today.
.
I wonder if Dorian wreaked enough havoc so the Gem couldn’t dock. The current weather is fine and seas don’t look too bad.

From what I’ve heard the Gem will leave today. The itinerary has eliminated Bar Harbor for tomorrow and added Portland in its place (7 - 3 Saturday). I’m sure this could change.

OK --- YMMV as well as NCL time table and port call itinerary !
In your case it will be as you have noted a simple (day) port call even if a B2B
This poses other problems with which pier NCL will dock -
For my cruise we’ll dock at pier 30. This looks like a good location near the city.

Hi.
I’m B2B Boston to Quebec later this month. I do plan to get off and explore Old Quebec. I’m guessing there will be a meeting or notice left in cabin about how the changeover will be handled. I’ll ask questions once I’m on board. Since we’re not staying overnight I’m thinking we’ll have to be back on board between 2 and 3 PM since we depart at 4.

Of course! I asked so many questions here I wanted to reciprocate. I had only used 2 of my 3 SDP and forgot to make a third reservation (last minute cruise). I called him Tues am and asked for Cagney's Wednesday night - before 8pm as I have a 6 year old in tow. He called me back a couple hours later and got us in for 7pm. He even came to visit us during dinner to be sure we were ok!
I hope you had Ravi get gummy bears and/or m&m’s for your 6 yr old. My grandkids enjoyed lots of kid friendly treats from the butler.

Anoop Bhanu was our Concierge (I had very little interaction with him but he seemed very nice). Ravi was our butler (he was AWESOME). From what I gathered it sounded like all staff would be staying on for the Canada trips, then doing the 14 night to Caribbean in November, then they get a couple months break.
It’s very nice you got answers to my question and others. Thank you.
I’ve sailed with Anoop as the concierge and he is very nice. I do use his services for restaurant reservations and other things outside the cabin. I’ve also had the services of Ravi and would love to have him for our trip. I hope you enjoyed your trip to bermuda. I’m heading out to Canada 9/20.
thank you again for answering my questions.

We also had this on the menu this past week on the Gem. Our lobster was fine (we are from Mass / New England and a fishing town to boot so we know what's good and what's not). It wasn't the best but we found it better than ok. It was included in our SDP.
I’m very happy to hear this. I’ll be on the Gem in September and I thought smaller ships wouldn’t see the change back to lobster.

I’ve sailed on the Dawn and Gem in an “Owners Suite with 2 balcony’s” (decks 9 and 10 forward) and this cabin has windows in shower and tub. There’s no Haven on the Dawn but there is on the Gem. Even though I was on deck 9 the cabin qualified for Haven privileges.
I also believe there were windows in the bathroom of the 2 BR suites on deck 11 (same ships) I’ve stayed in. I’m sure I’ll be corrected if wrong about the 2 BR.

Thanks for the input! I'm glad that we'll be able to receive some perks even though there is no "Haven" specific area. We have never used the Haven on NCL - will we need to make specialty dining reservations prior to boarding or will our Butler take care of items such as this? I don't want to be locked out, I'm just not familiar with the process.
P.S. Three bottles of wine is a good start! 🙂
At some point before you sail you should receive a list of eligible booze (wine or liquor) to choose from.
Your concierge can help with reservations once you get on board. You can make your own reservations (online or by phone) sometime around 100 days out from sailing. For me the toughest reservations, if not made in advance, were the last night or two of a cruise. I think cruisers like to finish out their trip with a specialty restaurant.
Hawaii is amazing - enjoy!
-
Adding on to what rjm11 said, you should receive 3 bottles of wine or booze. I think because of Hawaii law it is wine, but someone will correct me if I’m wrong. We also enjoyed unlimited soda and water being in an owners suite.

There's a difference between travelling with a passport and travelling when a passport is mandatory....... which is why I asked that specifically.
If your cruise requires a passport or visa, it is not uncommon for a cruise line to send solicitation from a partner or agent that they do business with to assist you. It is sent regardless if you have a current one etc.
Thank you. As I said no big deal just curious about the partnership.

When are you traveling? Is your passport expiring soon? Is it up for renewal?
No, I’m current with my passport. This was an unsolicited email from NCL. I travel in September to Canada.

Thank you all for your feedback. The kids will be 8, 12 and 14. I’m thinking the 14 yo will sleep in the LR. I just wanted to be sure it is a decent sized bed.
thanks again.
