  1. My dog would be miserable on a cruise ship.  Without the proper training true service dogs complete, I think many would be frightened and confused.  A coworker and his wife ordered fake service dog stuff from Amazon.  "We can take him to Ikea!"  My first thought was why the hell would your dog want to go to Ikea.

Unprepared as far as travel insurance goes, I agree.  But what control did they have over a hit and run?  Stupid?  I dont think so. Accidents happen all the time.

Renting a scooter in Cozumel would be stupid for me.  I don't speak great Spanish or have a familiarity with Mexican driving habits or laws.  Traveling out my home country without a passport or insurance would also be stupid for me.  Doesn't mean I wouldn't deserve help or sympathy, but those things would definately be stupid things to do.

  3. I agree with you Tink55, it was most likely stolen.  No coulda, woulda, shoulda from me.  We all know better about a lot of things but that doesn't mean we don't let our guard down sometimes.  At least I do.  I appreciate you sharing this experience, it's a good reminder, and I'm so sorry you lost a precious item.

So are you saying that as the "older demographic" is dying off, there is no one aging into said demographic.  What's going on?  Are people just dropping dead at age 50 now???  😳

I think "older" changes.  My interests differ dramatically from my parents interests at the same age.  For one thing, I had (and the same can be said for generations younger than me) children much later in life.  My parents had us all through college, and were grandparents by the time they were 55 courtesy of my older sibilings.  I'm 55 and my kids are still in high school.

Are you ok with being quarantined on a ship for a month, ie., Diamond Princess, because someone refused to get vaccinated and caught the virus? Or refused entry into a foreign port?
No one wants to see that happen.

Goodness no, no one wants to see that happen.  If the cruise line were to require vaccination, quarantine could still happen.   Vaccination isn't 100% effective.   Everyday there are people who have been vaccinated are testing positive.  Some have required hospitalization, some have died.

I choose to get vaccinated because I feel the odds are in my favor.  Others feel differently and I understand that.

I can't control everything, everyone, or every outcome.  I'm looking forward to cruising again.  When I invest my time and money in a cruise I accept there are no guarantees but I feel the odds are in my favor for good outcome.  If it made me feel safer I would book with a cruise line that required vaccination.

Perhaps I've missed this info, has the company outlined its policy and procedures for handling an outbreak?  Is it unreasonable to assume they've  learned something from all of this and have a more effective approach moving forward?  I have the same question for government and society, but that's a discussion for another forum.

  6. I'm fine with the absence of a vaccination requirement.  I'm now fully vaccinated (+3 weeks), but the vaccine isn't  bulletproof. I fully understand why some are choosing not to vaccinate.

I don't have the energy to analyze other people choices to the nth degree.  I've also given up on having a flawless experience.  It's not uncommon for illness (or weather for that matter) to result in an adjustment to a cruise.

Indeed so, POA1.  Thank you for the tip.  Very different results, seems as though the member I was searching for is doing quite well. Interesting, the difference in search "results".

  8. I just want to search by user name.  Haven't seen a post from her in some time and hoping all is well.  What has happened with the CC boards?  I hope they didn't pay too much for this apparent "upgrade".

What a convoluted way of looking at specialty dining. We absolutely love the fine dining option. The Steakhouse is worlds above the MDR. We have stayed at A.I.'s which have an upcharge for lobster, pretty simple, don't order it if you are offended.

Being aware of the total cost is not convoluted. Its called being an informed consumer.

While I'm at it, when people talk about what's "free"? Nails on a chalkboard to me. Nothing is free! But many things are included with the base fare.

  10. I would leave the sewing machine at home and spend time looking at the water and walking around.

Try things on the ship and get away from your life back home.

Sewing is a hobby for many of us. Like reading. I wouldn't consider leaving my books at home, or my handwork. Life back home interferes with my hobbies. Cruising is the perfect time to indulge!!

I hope to fit in a quilting cruise someday. Pricey yes, but for me, worth every penny!
