  1. Hi All

We were in GT about 10 days ago & found what we felt was a great gas golf cart rental for $60 + taxes for our time there. We found Island Auto Rentals as we were walking toward the outside area & we were going a bit to the left. We had the pleasure of dealing with Barry who has a son that lives in Tampa & who also has a Masters degree as well.

This was a small walk up shop with a counter on the inside of the terminal & the golf cart was located right outside of the terminal.

Our experience with these guys was perfect.

    Good luck !!

  2. How long is the walk from port to downtown?

I'd say that once you exit the TV it will be under 15 minutes until you will cross the swing bridge & be in the REAL downtown. And, after leaving the TV there are some small shops all along the way to the swing bridge.

    Enjoy Belize.

  3. IMHO, it always a shame to stay aboard the ship in any port you have not been to before.

You will miss a tender ride on a really large capacity tender, an interesting look at the many stores there in the Tourist Village, & for those that like to really mingle with the locals, a walk outside of the TV to look at the flea market just outside those gates.

We have been to Belize probably two dozen times plus & would never stay aboard & we are both now over 70 & enjoy the outside flea market.

You could even take a walk to downtown Belize City to see those shops along the way.

    Enjoy Belize.

  4. Hi Guys

We have noticed that for the last several months the "price matching claim form" site has been down for repairs.

What we did was to submit our reduced price claim straight to Guest Services & it was honored with no problem

But what about those who have a claim & do not know what to do ?

No site takes this loooong to be brought back up !

This must be some Mickey Mouse way that Carnival is saving a few bucks ??

    Your thoughts ?

  5. Have a fun time on Caye Caulker as it is a really cool place to visit, where you can walk it on one street going one way like to the split & back on another street to the water taxi pick up place in about three hours with time to shop & probably eat.

Take along your camera & enjoy.

  6. I'd suggest that you look up the site for Island Marketing for their Goff's Cay snorkel trip at $40 PP which includes rum punch, or book it directly thru Eco Tours for the same trip.

Their sites will give you all of their info.

    Enjoy Belize.

  7. Look up Island Marketing's site on a search engine & ask them your question & yes they do use Eco Tours & it is a great tour to do including free rum punch & lunch available for purchase on Goff's including Lobster tail. But very limited services like bathrooms.

    Go for it !!

  8. IMHO, your best bet would be to look up Island Marketing & look at their Belize tours.

We have done their Goff's Caye snorkeling & it was great & it was $40 PP + tip. All the rum punch you can drink & Lobster Kbobs for sale there at Goff's.

    Enjoy Belize.

  9. I think that yesterday when we booked the Goff's Cay snorkel trip with Island Marketing, that in looking around on their Belize info area, that I saw the snorkel trip that you are looking for where you snorkel off of Cay Caulker & then have lunch on Cay Caulker.

Check out the Island Marketing site & they are based in Grand Cayman & offer tours in many cruise ship ports.

    Enjoy Belize.

  10. We used to go with Coral Breeze for many years but nothing with them in about a year.

We have had good luck in booking with Island Marketing who uses Eco Tours in Belize as their operator. Book with either one & you will be fine. We did book with Island Marketing as it was a bit less expensive than booking directly with Eco Tours for the same trip. Go figure ??

    Enjoy Belize.

  11. A reminder for those going to Cay Caulker as well as on private tours that there is a time difference in Belize compared to ships time & that time difference is an additional hour when the US is on DST. When you sail on Carnival that ship stays on the home port's time which may vary several hours from Belize time.

Please be sure that you know the time difference as the local tours & water taxis could care less about ship's time & stay on their local time.

    Enjoy Belize.

  12. IMHO, it is the kind of place that you should see one time & then decide based upon your time spent there, if you want to return.

We have been there at least a dozen times, mostly for lunch after a snorkel trip & some times we took the water taxi there, & again IMHO we have been enough times.

It has all sand roads, almost no cars, lots of smaller shops where the locals shop, looks to only be a couple of feet above sea level & is definitely a unique place to visit.

    Enjoy Belize.

  13. So far, this isn't showing up as an option through Carnival and in looking at their website I cannot book with them independently. Is there any other way to book and if not, what other options do I have for a comparable experience?

My wife books this beach/snorkel trip after we are aboard the Carnival ship & it is probably the only ship's tour we book ever.

Just go to the Shore Excursion desk the first time they are open & ask to book the Tayabana Beach snorkel tour. If you are not taking your own snorkel gear, you can rent it there from Tayabana Beach or from a vendor right on the beach.

This is probably the very best snorkeling we have ever done, anywhere !!

  14. FYI -We were in Costa Mays this last week & did walk into the town, outside of the port area, & did take the first possible right turn off of the main road which was leading up to the recently constructed Mayan temple, & there on my right was the hole in the fence, just as we remembered it from several years ago. There was also what looked like a well worn path that our last time there, did lead to the gate for this closed resort, but we did not go thru the hole to investigate further. But that path did appear to be well worn. This hole is located just outside of the gates to the commissary located at the end of the road & will be on your right side.

From what we saw later while walking back out the dock to the ship, there was a Mexican family with children inside this resort & the kids were playing along the shore line.

It was a really cool place to visit & have a cold one but that was years ago.

  15. We booked a $25pp private tour through Victor Bodden and had 8 hours of a private tour. We saw the entire island and snorkeled at Tabyana. I would never pay $35pp for a short cruise ship excursion, when I can get a full-day guided tour including the snorkeling and anything else I want to do, for cheaper than the ship excursion. In Roatan, that walk to get to the nonship tour providers is not worth it for us.

Waaaay toooo long & far & those hills !!

  16. As you may never get back to either port, I'd suggest that in Belize you snorkel with Coral Breeze with includes two snorkel stops & then a local lunch on Caye Caulker, then the boat ride back to the Tourist Village. Look up the web site for Coral Breeze Tours. We have used this tour provider for probably the last ten years, about twice a year, with great results & zero problems. With Heni as their group leader, you will have a great time.

In Roatan, we snorkel at Tayabana Beach thru the ship which is a walk in snorkel experience with a short swim to the reef. This tour runs about $35 PP & includes an included bus ride to & from this beach. You can pack a lunch during breakfast that required no refrigeration & travel on the cheap. Or food may be pruchased there as well as drinks. This is one of the top three snorkel sites we have ever visited.

    Enjoy.

  17. Anyone have an idea of cost for the tour, cost to make the candy bars or times available? We are cave tubing but would love to do this on the way back the ship plus Grandma is staying back and it looks like something fun for her to do.

    BonVoyage

    Dawna

My wife looked into this this past early May & tells me that it is $20 US, & in addition to the tour you can make three chocolate bars which are a nice size bar.

    Enjoy Belize.

  18. Has anyone heard of a chocolate factory on Belize?

On our last trip to Belize, 5/02/2012 there was a fairly new Chocolate Factory located in the Tourist Village which my wife said was a ball. You can pay $20.00 & you get to make a couple of chocolate bars. They also offer a spicy hot chocolate. It is located quite close to the Wet Lizzard in the TV.

    Enjoy Belize.
