  1. When I look at the ship's layout it looks like the hump cabins are very close to the elevators - any problem with noise?

After 11 days on Solstice in stateroom AQ1608 we never noticed a noise problem. An automatic sliding glass door separated the stateroom hallway from the elevators & our SR was 12 feet from that glass door.

  2. We stayed in 1608 during our May 09 E Med on Solstice & never had a wind problem while underway. In fact the balcony's sliding glass door was very soundproof. Also, no noise from the elevators since the auto-sliding glass door just outside the stateroom door was always closed until you approached it.

The large overhang never bothered us either. Yes it was always shaded.

I never noticed a substantial difference in balcony size either when compared to similar (closer) staterooms and it faced forward with a great view. This stateroom's bed was near the balcony. We enjoyed the room so much we tried to book it on Equinox for our Jan 2010 journey but no such luck. We settled for 1582 instead.

    Great ship, great trip !!

  3. Firstly I am using my phone to post, so I may be all over the place in my reply, sorry.

Ok, it's called a tub game, honestly it is fun for the player, but not much fun for the dealer.

In any pit I have run anyone being aggresive to another player gets a quick talking to, it just shouldn't happen, sure some fun ribing, but nothing to strong.

One thing to remember about dice dealers on the ships, for many of them the first time they have dealt the game is on a ship, the vast majority are learning as they go. They are taught the very basics and that's it.

Now IMHO the floor are not much better, there are off course exceptions.

Now any casino in the world will tell it's dealers rule # 1, don't listen to the player, this is due to the fact that if the player is wrong the dealer has nothing to fall back on as an excuse, however I have found the dice crews more inclinded to listen and I have even given a couple of lessons with the ok of the CM.

Btw, just a quick way to see as a player what you are dealing with, place a minimum of $20 a number ask to buy the 4,10 and 5,9 and see what they say. A lot of new dealers and heck players don't know you can buy the 5,9

    Buying the 4 & 10 on a $20 place bet.....

If the casino wants a buck up front then a buck after the number hits - NO, not a good wager

If it's buying the 4 or 10 for a Quarter - that's OK, but even better if you only pay the juice after the hit.

    Zig (my 2 cents worth)

  4. Yep I am seeing this setup more often these days. Pretty cool! Hopefully, more cruiselines will adopt this policy.

    And to add further.....

Certainly like the fact that the ships (at least the ones I've been on) are still paying 3/2 on BJ.

Hope the 'Vegas 6/5 garbage doesn't spread to the sea !!!

  5. Although I have not read all 200 prior posts I thought I would let all the other degenerate crap players know that I ran into a 3,4 & 5 times odds table on the Solstice during a May '09 Med Cruise.

That was nice of Celebrity to do that & just hoping I 'll find the same situation on Equinox during our Jan '10 cruise. :p

Those 2X odds tables make the Come Bet a real grind for the return.

    JMHO

  6. During a cruise on The Connie late last year Ricardo at the Martini Bar told us we would catch Togi on Solstice during our May 09 Med cruise, sure enough there he was. However, Togi told us he will be joining Equinox in Southhampton. Again, we'll be lucky enough to catch him on our Jan '10 western Caribbean trip. Togi also is trying to get Ricardo to join him. Imagine both of them woking together again !!!

  7. Deck - 11

    Cabin # - 1608

    Class – Aqua

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near? (balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Quiet

Balcony View - excellent ! - on the edge of the hump angled forward. Good view of the bridge also.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

    Was wind a problem? None

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? None

Other comment: Room is next to elevators. Auto -sliding glass door from hallway to atrium (elevators) eliminated all noise. Will probably pick the same cabin # for Equinox.
