Nothing in spam - but I did get this from noreply@mastercard.com.

Could it be because tickets are not until June?  Or did I get scammed?  Appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

I just checked the link that you used to buy them against the one that I did VERY carefully and it is the exact same one.  However my receipt looks a bit different from yours. I know that they just opened up May 3rd tickets on April 3 (I think because they were trying to figure out summer hours and the Easter Orthodox holiday that May 4th weekend) and then suddenly they opened it up until September.  If they are not in your spam folder, then it may???? be because they are overwhelmed with ticket requests??? Is there an email that you can inquire about them?  Also, did you see your Visa charge go FULLY through yet? Or is it still in pending?  Sometimes your credit card may be waiting for you to okay the purchase from a foreign country - just a thought. I do not think the website is a scam.  The WORST case is you could dispute it, but

My receipt looked like this for the 3 of us...

    Acropolis & Slopes
    Attica & Central Greece

  2. Hello,

I am wanting to book the 5 Euro tickets to the Pantheon in May. I signed up on their website here: http://www.scavi.va/content/scavi/en/prenotazione.html , but can only see tickets available through the end of April. It was my understanding that tickets should be available 30 days in advance. I was wondering if I am missing a way to get to the month of May or if perhaps they just have not released any tickets in May yet. Any advice would be appreciated.

As a side note, from searching Cruise Critic, I did find this thread from September

which offered some helpful links - including MamaLovesRome, but it did not say anything about tickets being released late.

  3. If anyone is looking for Acropolis tickets for May 1 and 2, they have just gone on sale today. You can find them here: https://hhticket.gr/tap_b2c_new/english/tap.exe?PM=P1P&region=all

(We bought the Acropolis & Slopes combo tickets for $30 - lets you in many of the Athens sites)

They are not available for May 3 and forward yet.  There still seems to be plenty tickets available for most days in April which finally opened up about a week ago.

  4. I had a nightmare because my husband has a "II" suffix on the end of his name.  It is fine on Princess cruise lines website but for some reason their computer does not translate to EZ Air.  Thus I was not able to book our 3 tickets together.  They tried to "assure" me the II was on the end of his name, but when I insisted on talking to EZ Air, they told me it was not on the tickets. They had to manually cancel and rebook his one ticket.  It only changed about $5, but there was no way to make it match our price and I did not care about $5.  But then a couple of weeks later when the price went down and I wanted to rebook with flights at a better time, I did not want to go through another 90 minutes of dealing with it. So I cancelled EZ Air and booked directly through American. I also did not like the fact that they do not issue/fully assign your seats  until final payment and sometimes even then. I wanted to be guaranteed that we had the seats that I chose.  I know that "almost always" it works out, but do not want any surprises after waiting for 8 months!

Hopefully there will be tickets available at official site after April 1, 2024

Tickets for the month of April went on sale three days ago.  Unfortunately for me, we are looking for tickets for May 2. I am still checking daily. Last I heard from my tour company - about three weeks ago, Greece was planning on shortening the hours on Friday March 3 and Saturday May 4 due to the Greek Orthodox Easter holiday.  That MAY have something to do with the holdup.

Just FYI, I was able to book Acropolis tickets today at the official HH website for April 26! I’d heard that they would be available on April 1, so this was a nice surprise!!!!!

Thank you VERY much for this info!  I have been going to the site every 3-4 days checking because I too had heard April 1.  We need tickets for May 2. Unfortunately May is not open yet, but I will keep checking. So glad you were able to get your tickets - and thanks for the info!

  7. You can buy Acropolis tickets ahead of time and save a long line ONCE they are on sale here: https://hhticket.gr/tap_b2c_new/english/tap.exe?PM=P1P&region=all . Apparently they will not go on sale until after April 1 for dates starting April 1 and later. Even at that, I am booked with Georges Taxi for May 2nd(now - was booked May 3). Georges Taxi told me that Greece is looking at limiting the hours on May 3 and 4 due to Greek Orthodox Easter. So it may even be mid-April when the new dates are bookable.  I have been checking frequently "just in case".

  8. For those arriving early in Athens you may wish to read… FYI - we arrive in Athens on May 1 - which was scheduled to be their "Labor day" and we were aware that some sites may be closed for their holiday. (We were fine with it as we figured we would be exhausted from travel.) We had a tour booked with Georges Taxi on Friday, May 3 and were planning on buying tickets to the Acropolis on April 1 for the tour when the tickets were supposed to go on sale. We received the following email from George's Taxi yesterday and thought I'd share for those that are arriving early:

"We hope all is well. We got informed that the government made and might make some changes at the days and times the sites will be open during the days of Greek orthodox Easter.

It has moved the Labor day (1 May 2024) to be holiday on 7 May 2024. Also the Great Friday and Great Saturday (3 May and 4 May 2024) the sites may not be open at their full schedule (might open a little later and close a little earlier).

That is something that is not yet confirmed and we will know around mid April. Until then do not buy in advance tickets as we might need to change pick up time and we will communicate again at mid April that we will know better. ( Last year they did not change the schedules of the sites, we hope they will not change it this year but as you understand that is something out of our control).

I thought that may affect some plans so I would pass it along. All I know is what you see above.

**NOTE: If you google when Labor Day in Athens Greece is, it DOES still show it as May 1. However, since George’s Taxi is in Greece, I think they would have more up-to-date info. They are very highly rated on Cruise Critic and TripAdvisor which is why we booked with them.

I posted this on a May 4th Facebook group that I belong to yesterday and one person said that her Friday tour was already changed from a 9:00 am to a 12:00 start.  A couple of people who have Viator tickets said that they had not heard anything about their tours being changed yet.

We were fortunate that I could move our tour with Georges Taxi to Thursday so that we can still have a full day tour.  (We had already booked tickets for Thursday afternoon to the Acropolis Museum a few weeks ago that fit nicely in with George's Best of Athens tour)

Just thought everyone may want to have a heads up. On the bright side, assuming the email is correct, it looks like everything should now be open on May 1 – the original Labor Day date and now we may be able to join in the celebration for Greek orthodox Easter. I have fond memories of going to the festival with my grandmother when I lived in Florida.

Our 3 Uber rides booked through the Uber app in Pireaus and Athens were taxis, not private cars. Uber pricing was accurate and honored each time. The taxis were clean and we enjoyed chatting with our drivers. (We also had the same Uber experiences in Rome, by the way.) We Uber'd from Pireaus to the museum. It was at least a 1/2 hour drive and the charge was 20 euros. After dealing with the taxi drivers at the port, we were so happy with our Uber experience.

This may be a silly question, but do you need to do anything special to use Uber in Athens or Rome vs the United States?  Or is it all the same app? Thanks!

We also are using a George’s for Acropolis tour etc for late April. I was also having trouble and messaged them. I was told by Billy at George’s that we would not actually be able to purchase the tix at the official website until April. I think a new pricing structure goes into effect then. Hope this helps!

That does make me feel a lot better that you received confirmation on that. George's taxi mentioned that briefly in my confirmation email from way back, but I find it extremely odd that people going in April cannot book until April. I am glad that I do not have an early April cruise. We leave on May 4. I am sure there website will be hopping on April 1! Thanks again 😃

Thank you. I’ll look into that. Princess reimbursed us for all my cruise fares, air, and all expenses that we had already on the cruise itself. Spa and all extras. But we were out of pocket for Acropolis, Vatican, Colloseum tickets. So it would be interesting to look at outside travel insurance policies as well. Thanks again.

Be sure and look carefully. As you will read, some are saying that that have been told that their travel insurance doesn't consider a cancellation by the carrier to be a covered loss.  I have to remind myself that I bought it for HEALTH reasons, but still, this is something beyond our control.  Feels like people are getting it from both ends 🪛

May I ask, what travel insurance do you have that covers all of that? Thank you

I have Allianz insurance, but have been hearing rumblings that if the cruise line has not gone out of business that it is up to the cruise line to make things right. I was just curious from those who did have travel insurance as to how much of their nonrefundable expenses they are covering.

Perhaps they did.  But like me, my travel insurance doesn't consider a cancellation by the carrier to be a covered loss.  So please don't assume that "travel insurance" covers all expenses or situations.

So is your travel insurance not reimbursing you at all?  We are not booked for a few more weeks, but after reading about the two cancellations (with horror) I was at least somewhat comforted by the fact that the yearly travel insurance would cover the $1000 plus incidents such as the tickets I bought to the Acropolis Museum, Acropolis, Vatican, etc. and some non-refundable transports to the hotel, and tours.   I did not think about them denying the claim... :classic_sad:.

But no one received 50% off of a future cruise. They receive a 50% future cruise credit. If their base cruise fair was $2000, then they received a $1000 future cruise credit, not 50% off of a future cruise.

Thank you for clarifying that. I did not catch that on the "first cancellation" go around. I am starting to realize that I should start paying close attention to these details even though my cruise is still a few weeks away😱.  We would have literally been on a plane over the ocean when we received that email yesterday. So heartbroken for the passengers.

  15. I wonder why some people on the February 18th cruise received an email offering them a $1000 on board credit with a future cruise and some people received 50% off a future cruise?  (see email notices received on page 75) $1000 on board credit is not very much compensation for having a years worth of dreams, planning and saving up your vacation time only to have it yanked out from under you with 4 days notice (not that 50% off a future cruise compensates you fully - but better than $1000 for sure)

  16. I was just checking Cruise Critic because I have been unable to find tickets past March 31. This is the website; https://hhticket.gr/tap_b2c_new/english/tap.exe?PM=P1N

We were told to book the Acropolis and Slopes tickets by Georges Tours. I have been checking daily since January 31 and it will still only let one book up until March 31.    It "seems" that if you scroll down to the bottom and click on "hours" it only has the set hours until March 31. I wonder if they are still deciding upon the hours for the summer?  I will continue to try daily.  We want to book for May 3 - the day before our cruise.

  17. I am "fairly" sure that I read that people in Canada can now buy AARP gift cards.  I recommend that you check their website.

With regards to big box stores, I bought between 1 - 5 AARP gift cards a month and redeemed them each month from September through January and paid off my entire cruise that way.  I wanted to make sure that I used them the day that I bought them, so I called the big box store immediately upon receiving them via email because a couple of times it was $2500 worth of gift cards.

The only draw back that I have heard is if we cancel that we get credit back on our gift cards so I am certain to save the numbers and PINs.  We are booked on the Sun in 99 days.  Hopefully it will sail and that will not be an issue. I am very curious what refund the people who were on the February 8th cruise received if they had paid with the AARP cards.  I have not read anything on that.

  18. Thank you both for your input. Both of you made great points.  We actually have four other tours booked with RIL - two walking tours and a Post Cruise tour in Rome and the Pisa/Florence one.  I have found Jany fabulous to work with and will consult her accordingly.

We visited Pompeii as part of an Amalfi Coast tour with Rome in Limo.  They arranged for a wonderful guide who met us there.  We were among the first off the ship in Naples and were whisked away to Pompeii where we were first in line through the gate.  We have fabulous photos with no tourists in them!  She was able to show us the highlights so that we could make the most of our time.  Having a guide really brings Pompeii to life.

We would like to book the same tour with Rome In Limo, but are worried about seeing Pompeii first because I am worried about a traffic issue and getting back to the ship on time after seeing the Amalfi Coast tour.  Logic tells me that if we are stuck in traffic that the cruise ships tours would be too.  I was thinking of asking if we could do that tour backwards - going to Sorrento/Amalfi Coast first. Does that make sense at all?? Of course Pompeii would be crowded then 😔

Easy peasy: buy one of these...https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SY5O5K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There is almost always an outlet behind the bed for the lamp. Pull the bed away from the wall (or ask the steward to do it), plug the CPAP into one of the 110 outlets, the lamp into a 220 outlet and the adapter into the wall. Shove the bed back and you're good to go.

You guys and gals spoil me!  In the cart and bought!  I appreciate all of you!
