  1. We were concerned with the ala cartel dining with the package. Worked out great were no problems at all. Didn't have to pay extra for anything and we could order as much as we wanted. As for downsizing.. Hmm I don't think I would say that. I think I would just say they took off a few of my favorites and replaced them with different options. One of the things cagneys no longer offer for lunch is the shrimp cocktail. Sad! They do still offer it for dinner how ever. But not anymore for lunch. Also they took a scallop and shrimp risotto which was my fav:( there are new options like a Brie burger as well as a few new appetizer. The breakfast menu is relatively the same. They used to have a crabs edge Benedict but they have replaced that for a seafood eggs Benedict.

... I know, these are our first-world problems! We save up so we can do the suite when we cruise, so I'll brace myself to not expect those crabcake eggs benedicts... I liked that risotto, too, and always had shrimp cocktail! doggone it

    :)

  2. Thanks so much for your review! We're in a Dawn suite coming up in about a month...on a New England cruise to Quebec City. But we love Bermuda, too.

You mentioned how they changed the menus, did they further downsize Cagney's menus for breakfast and lunch?

And it sounds like your UDP worked ok with the new Mexican ala carte restaurant? We booked an "old" UDP and wondering if it works slick with any of the specialty restaurants.

    thanks again!

  3. We were on the Dawn last month, and after a couple of days figured out how to make it work best for us - - pick up a dinner drink on our way to dinner, strategically go to quieter bars at unusual hours, etc.... we always try to "zag" when others are "zigging" anyway, and especially with all of the UBP onboard the ship, made the strategy that much more important. So we hardly ever waited, but purposely avoided it, too.

    UBP is a great perk.

  4. We had FttF as well on our cruise last week, but it did nothing to assist us in moving from late to early dining time (that puzzled me, too). Appeal to the Maitre'D after boarding, especially with info about the little one and I bet you'll get moved. I believe they plan for these situations by setting aside vacant early seats for special situations that appear onboard. Good luck!

Other than the dining fluke, FttF was an outstanding idea for us. Have fun.

  5. I was also on this cruise and wrote a member review about it that has just been posted... the decor of the ship is "interesting" to say the least! Loud, colorful with lots of pink-stained oak (yes) and bronze/copper colored ceilings and wall treatments. The MDRs with pearl/oyster themes with pearls streaming out of bugle-shaped vessels seem to have been designed by someone who was inspired by Dr. Seuss.

You sort of have to see it in person to understand. Not to my liking at all, but you get used to it and the ship is clean and well maintained.

  6. FttF was sold out on our ship. But I learned about how to get on the waiting list from a thread here on CC! I was able to get on the FttF waiting list by sending an email with my booking #, ship and date of sailing to FttFinfo@carnival.com

They responded that they would let me know if space opened up, once they knew how many platinum / other VIP folks were on the ship.

I just got the email this morning, and our sailing is Sunday.

Thanks to my CC peeps for the info! Hopefully we'll get our dining time changed...

  7. I just got the email that FttF has been manually added to our booking. Yay! My question is whether this may increase our chances of changing from late dining to early or YTD?

Thanks for letting me know if you've had this perk help out with changing dining times. Late is too late for us...

  8. Don't they schedule shows so that early seating diners see the show after dinner, and late seating diners can see the "early" show before they eat? It seems like folks are saying if you are late seating, you miss the shows... I'm a CCL newbie (NCL freestyle veteran) so thanks for the add'l clarification!

  9. I totally agree with you, Janet987 - - we tried Aqua class on Celebrity for the first time, on Reflection for my 50th b-day for a relaxing vacation. We loved the smaller BLU restaurant and service, and loved the spa amenities, especially heated loungers in Persian Garden. And yes, that shower-head in the aqua-class balcony cabin was the bomb!

With BLU's smaller size and attentive service, the sommellier gets to know you too... great especially if you have a bev package. We were spoiled and enjoyed every minute! Have fun!

  10. I feel like such a dumb-dumb! We bought a Cruise Reward certificate on our last NCL cruise, and I've since booked not one but two more NCL cruises, and I was so giddy about the good deal and promos that both times I forgot to use the certificate for the deposit. duh!

Has anyone ever heard of NCL letting you use the credit either toward payment for an already-booked cruise, or for OBC? Thanks for your thoughts!
