  1. Caribbean Princess  2/16/2020 - 2/29/2020 Circle Caribbean Tour

It was our first cruise on the Caribbean Princess. My husband and I are fans of the grand class ships. We has a great cruise until there was an outbreak of the Norovirus. We were denied access to Aruba, our last port of call and came back to Fort Lauderdale a day early.  Princess gave everyone a $75.00 ship board credit and refunded 1 days price of the cruise. They also paid for a hotel room in Fort Lauderdale for the 1 night since we could not change our flight home.

  2. Good evening,  According to the Princess Website.  The ship left Port Miami at 5:30 PM ET.

This is from the Princess Web Site.

Despite continued efforts through diplomatic channels, current travel restrictions by home countries will prevent homeward travel for 13 international guests, and local authorities will not authorize the use of local hotels. These guests will join the Coral Princess crew members for a self-imposed 14-day quarantine to monitor symptoms and to reduce the possibility of transmission if they became symptomatic. Additional Princess Cruises crew members will be boarding today to aid the quarantine.

I checked  the cruisemapper.com website and the Coral Princess is located just off  Fort Lauderdale.  It is not as far out to sea as the other Princess Ships at this time.

  3. Good evening,  I have been following along and wishing that this situation would end soon for all the passengers aboard the Coral.  I have looked back several pages of comments and have not seen the latest update from the Princess website from earlier today.  My apologies if it has all ready been added.  I though it was important for the passengers to see it.

    Coral Princess Update

Princess Cruises can confirm that guest disembarkation for Coral Princess at the Port of Miami began yesterday, April 4. Disembarkation will continue today limited to those departing on chartered flights arranged by Princess Cruises to California, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Overnight, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) communicated changes to their policy regarding post-disembarkation travel for cruise passengers, recommending no travel via commercial flights nor shared transportation with non-cruise guests. Princess Cruises continues to work tirelessly to adjust the repatriation plan to meet the new CDC requirements. This will unfortunately result in further delays in disembarkation and onward travel for many guests as we work through this complex, challenging and unfortunate situation. We express continued gratitude to our guests for their patience and understanding as we work to adapt to these new requirements.

All guests are being screened as directed by the CDC before disembarkation of the vessel. During disembarkation, and until they reach their homes, guests are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing measures.

Those with respiratory symptoms, or who are still recovering, will remain on board until medically cleared by the ship’s doctors. Further details on disembarkation will be shared once available.

Coral Princess departed March 5 from San Antonio (Santiago) for a South America voyage which was scheduled to end in Buenos Aires on March 19. In response to the global spread of COVID-19, Princess Cruises announced a voluntary 60-day pause of operations on March 12, becoming one of the first companies in the leisure travel industry to take this proactive measure. Coral Princess remained in service longer than previously expected, until arriving at the Port of Miami, due to a series of port closures, airline cancellations and other actions taken, which impacted the onward travel home of the guests and crew onboard.

  4. Hello, We were on the 2/16-3/1 Southern Caribbean sailing of the Caribbean Princess.  We got a refundable shipboard credit for the cost for 1 day of the price paid for the cruise. A $75.00 refundable shipboard credit and 25% off our next cruise.  Princess is also reimbursing for the cost of a hotel room for 1 night since we came back on 2/29.   Princess is really trying to make reparations for cutting the cruise short.

  5. Hello,

My husband and I are boarding the Caribbean Princess for  a 14 day cruse February. We generally bring enough clothes for half the cruise and use the self service laundry.  Can anyone tell me if the laundry still requires quarters in order to use the washer or dryers?  In the past we have learned that the change machines are generally empty and have to go to the purser's desk to get change.

    Thank you for your help.

  6. Hi,

Just back from my Panama Canal Cruise on the Island Princess. I had contacted Mr. Miles via e-mail regarding my wish to purchase a pair earrings to match my pendant that I had purchased from his store 2 years ago. He e-mailed me photos and prices of several types of earrings that were available in his shop.

His shop is only 1 of 2 that are recommended by the Princess Cruise Line in Cartagena. If you go to his website he has links to information about emeralds and a coupon for 25% off any purchase. I was able to purchase a pair of high quality emerald studs 0.78 carat set in 18k gold for around $1200. I took them to my jeweler today and he told me that they were worth much more that I paid for them.

I strongly recommend that you do your homework and if the ship offers a lecture about emeralds to sit in on it. There are many typed of emeralds available some are cloudy and some are clear but all emeralds have occlusions (aka flaws) in them.

    Happy Shopping

  7. In 2012 while in Cartagena, I purchased an emerald necklace from Mr. Emerald's shop. When I got home I had the necklace appraised and it came back 30% higher than what I paid. I will be back in Cartagena again in 2014 and have all ready contacted Mr. Miles via e-mail about getting some matching earrings. He assured me that he will have several pairs that will match my necklace when I arrive. I highly recommend his store.

  8. My DH & I did the full transit cruise in 2012 and it is scenic cruising through the canal. The ship approaches the Gatun Locks about 5:00AM and it takes about 8 hours to make it through to the other side. The shore excursions are only for the 2-day transits. When we were planning our trip we had the same question. The princess website is not very clear regarding the shore excursions.
