According to Equasis, Horizon's status is " TO BE BROKEN UP" so that's official.

White Sea? Do you mean Alta? That’s not on the White Sea
Never mentioned Alta - No i genuinely meant the White Sea, the inlet of the Barents Sea.
P&O need to utilize their smaller ships better.

The European summer 2021 collection is very lame indeed - ships on repetitive itineraries, same ports over and over again.
The larger ships have limits to where they can go, and the Aurora, Arcadia, and/or Oceana need to be sent out on unusual voyages to some off the beaten path places, White Sea, Greenland,Black Sea to name but three.

July 11th, & September 5th visits of Norwegian Spirit to Lerwick have been scrubbed for next year.
-
As a local Shetlander there is no local tenders when in Lerwick. All tenders come from the ships themselves.
There is a new 275m long quay in the North Harbour completed late 2016, and when the port authority gets around to deepening the approach channel more bigger liners should in therory be able to get alongside as opposed anchoring.
Long term there are desires to build a deep water cruise berth in the town centre (10m plus depth not to far from shore) but as ever it comes down to money.

Same ships in Northern Europe on same cruises, not very imaginative.
Iv'e always wondered how they pick which ships to send to Northern Europe?..it can't be a random draw of names out of a hat as it's normally the same ones most years!
-
Spirit is now booked into Kirkwall, Orkney 4 times during 2019, under what looks like similar looking routes offered by the Jade this year.
On that basis at least a few should have Iceland, Norway, Shetland/Faroe..? on the horizon. :)
-
I think the OP refers to the repetitive nature of the itineraries week in week out throughout a season.
I agree their cruise offerings are very "samey" every year, same ships on same routes.
-
Seven Seas Discoverer would have been my choice.
-
I see from port bookings Zuiderdam is in Northern Europe in summer 2019 but her cruises are yet to appear online, i wonder when they will be released.
-
Oriana has been up for sale for some considerable time now, and like Adonia i dare say if an acceptable offer came in for her she'll be bombed out of the fleet just like that.
P&O are ridiculously tight when it comes to compensation, this has not been a good PR year for them.
-
Sun Princess is booked into Amsterdam in 2019 so it looks like she's on a world voyage.
-
Part of Spirit of Discovery's maiden cruise is South Queensferry (Edinburgh) - Kirkwall - Belfast.
-
No mention of the Dream in the press release, her days with Thomson/TUI/Marella must now surely be numbered.
-
There's added 2019 itineraries now on their website, for namely Rotterdam & Nieuw Statendam in Northern Europe. For the rest of this region still awaiting Zuiderdam & Koningsdam.
-
It looked for all the world they were going to stick with beginning in "s" - ie Spirit, Song, Saga etc etc but perhaps S has a limit on productive names?

Just was wondering folks i live in the UK and was intrigued as to why P&O (Australia) never offer up a World cruise?
Even the Chinese have had a WC on Costa Atlantica in the last few years that seemed popular, and i know the Australian Princess based ships do them to why not P&O?
If anything you would think eventually most people would have covered the South Pacific Islands and New Zealand and would be looking for new horizons to explore?
-
I think in time Oceana will get moved on, whether it's transferred down under or sold onto another cruise company we'll have to wait and see.
Oriana & Aurora lack balconies even though they have some, i guess there will be a plan in place for new builds to eventually replace them both, it just depends if it makes economic sense to build mid sized or continue the mega ship trend upwards.
-
Very backward step sadly from P&O. The size of Adonia was ideal for out of the way ports, Seville among others, this means Oriana becomes the smallest vessel in the fleet at 69,000GRT. Can you honestly say she will creep into narrow sounds and boutique ports around the globe?
-
Talking of Fred Olsen they are allegedly looking at newer tonnage...Adonia anyone? ;)
-
Adonia is booked into Icelandic ports in 2019, having appeared on Akureryi's 2019 list in the last few weeks or so.

2019
in Cunard Line
Iv'e seen a cruise advertised for Queen Victoria in July 2019, just the one mind you but it is out there if you look hard enough.
One or two new ports on the itinerary, so it looks like Cunard are mixing it up a bit more.
-
I see a few cruises on a site, namely Brilliance of the Seas, & Serenade of the Seas out now for summer 2019.
Baltic tours and Serenade's trip from Copenhagen to Boston also feature
UK staycation cruise details launched
in Princess Cruises

Whilst is understandable and quite rightly sensible to not have any port calls during these Round UK cruises, the potential is there for some stunning coastal cruising, especially if they base a ship in Newcastle.
For one you have Orkney - Scapa Flow, Old Man of Hoy, Fair Isle, Shetland coastline, Western Isles.
Plenty of lovely destinations in their own right.
