So refreshed after our sleep we headed out to Brunch at Bayside area in Miami . My cousins son took us to a place he had been recommended 'Bacon Bitches'Great food , great service and you get the pleasure of being called 'B###h' to everything as you order your breakfast. A fun place to go if you aren't easily offended .

  2. We were also on this cruise, and found embarkation, and strangely enough, disembarkation, to be incredibly smooth. We arrived at the port around 10:45, and were enjoying our welcome aboard "champagne" by 11:15. We had planned a pickup for 9:30 on disembarkation, but the line was moving smooth at 8:00 and we moved our pickup up, and were on our way to Fort Lauderdale by 8:30. In fact, we were on the beach by 9:30...

I do agree the first sea day was ridiculous for chairs! This was our second Celebrity cruise, and I just don't remember it being that bad on the last one!

We also were on the Equinox last week.

I agree the first sea day was ridiculous but the second sea day was much better. We were out at the pool by 9 a.m. and all of the empty loungers (and there were quite a few that early) had preprinted cards about not reserving chairs and where you could go to find your stuff if you were gone more than 30 minutes). We stayed at the pool all day (until around 4) and there were open loungers around us almost the whole time (granted we chose to be in the shade).

I've never had a disembarkation that was so easy. We were independent travelers with our car parked in the garage across from the terminal. We had a 7:50 disembarkation time but they were running ahead of schedule and our number was called around 7:40. We had our luggage and were on I-95 by about 8:20.

This was our first time at Miami and I loved the airport style baggage pick up. It made luggage pick up so much faster. Parking was also a breeze.

    I really enjoyed the cruise.

  3. Celebrity was putting out cards in May, reminding pax of no saving seats, and that their items could be removed. I'm not sure how well it was enforced, but at least they were making an effort!

When we were on the Summit 2 weeks ago, they were putting out cards but you still couldn't find 2 together in the shade. We ended up taking towels back to our shady aft balcony and enjoying the day there. This was our 10th cruise and it's the first one that we never spent any time at the pool because of a lack of seats. The Solarium wasn't any better.

I thought there were significantly fewer chairs in the shade on the Summit compared with the Solstice class ships that we've sailed on before.

  4. That's weird. Should just list Tuscan Grill and Q'sine which we went to in May. Food was very good and service was excellent. Wouldn't hesitate going back. People had told us it is a venue for a group but we had a great time with just the 2 of us.

Looking forward to trying Tuscan Grill in October. :)

We also did Q'sine last week as a couple. I really enjoyed the experience. Our waiter encouraged us to only pick 4 or so of the 20 options because we could always order more. We were at Q'sine which is on Deck 11 as we were sailing into Bermuda on Tuesday night (12 hours early). Great view from the restaurant.

  5. Hi Donna....we're on the Summit in Oct. and have an aft cabin as well...guess we're also C1...could you see the statue from your balcony?

yes, but the weather was bad the day we sailed away. It got foggy from the rain and you could barely see the Manhattan skyline. Got a nice view when we returned to Bayonne.

Hopefully, you'll have better weather for sailaway than we did - we didn't get to sail around the Statue of Liberty because Captain Kate was worried about the weather between Bayonne and Bermuda. I loved Captain Kate. She was everywhere on the ship.

  6. Just a minor correction, not all Concierge Class passengers were invited to watch sailaway - we're in a C1 and did not receive an invitation. However, we love our covered balcony at the aft. We really like the Summit.

I wanted to amend my statement. While we were not invited to helipad for the sailaway from Bayonne, we did get an invite and a telephone call for the sailaway from Bermuda. I loved being on the helipad as we sailed away. The only problem was that sailaway was at 4:30 and the first seating at dinner was 5:30 (and it was Evening Chic) so we had to leave earlier than I would have liked to get to dinner.

  7. A few other updates from the prior sailing--

People had noticed that the list of Concierge Class amenities on the website no longer listed "expanded breakfast room service menu." I can report that the list IN the stateroom still included that amenity and that the paper menus provided still had omelettes (which is the item I remembered being available only on the "expanded" menu).

I'll also add that it makes sense to ask at the bar for your preferred beverage even if you think it's not on your package, just to verify. Despite the fact that all the printed package descriptions place Jameson on the Premium list (last year it was on Classic), my husband was served it without charge. He didn't even ask for the first three days, as he debated whether or not to upgrade. Then he ordered it and was served it with his Classic package. So, ask before you assume you've got to upgrade.

In the casino, I had non-refundable OBC loaded onto my seapass as slot credit and was not charged a 5% service charge.

Concierge Class passengers were invited to watch sailaway from Bermuda on the helipad (but it was cancelled due to inclement weather last sailing).

  8. I was so excited to share our wonderful experience at the Porch for embarkation day lunch on the Silhouette in January 2013, but it looks like it may no longer be open that day or that it varies from ship to ship. :(

If it is open, I would highly recommend. I think that January weather in FLL would be comparable to Miami in November, and I recall that it was delightful! Food was good, but the highlight was the wonderful view of the port area and skyline.

I have vivid memories of sipping my wine and anticipating all of the fun that was to come over the course of our cruise!

We had lunch on embarkation day on the Silhouette on our cruise in late March 2015. We had the place to ourselves. We loved it. In March it was $7.

  9. Is Bistro on 5 now $10 pp instead of $7?

We got off the Silhouette on March 29. Yes, the Bistro on 5 is now $10 pp. The Porch is $7 per person. We ate at The Porch the day we sailed and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The Bistro was likewise empty most of the times we walked by.
