Wife and I are going on the November 25th cruise too. It is going to be a busy week, but lots of new places.

I had a waitress in the MDR on our recent Carnival Pride trip that I just loved. I know it is her job to be nice, but by the end she felt like a friend. She went above and beyond, did special things for us, confided in us, sought us out during the day on the Lido deck, etc.
She had at one point mentioned that she used facebook to stay in touch with friends and family back home. A very quick search on facebook brought her profile up.
Would it be weird for me to send her a facebook friend request? I do not want to invade her privacy (which I may have already done just by searching for her!!). I mean... there is a reason Carnival doesn't put their last names on their name tag, right? And it is very possible that guests are the last people crew want to friend.
But it would be nice to stay in touch, and to see what ship she is on in the future when I am booking my cruises. Have any of you ever remained friends with crew through social media after your cruise?
So what you are saying, now that you have been stalking her, found her, now YOU want to be "friends" ... what are you going to do, find out what ship, dining room, shift cycle, and contract status, so you can go on the same ship, to see / stalk her some more?
-
No, I would not "friend" the staff on the ship, the staff at "Red Lobster" or the staff at "Days Inn". But then I also would not "Friend" anyone else that I just met less than 5-7 days ago.

We normally try to ignore the kids too. If that's what you mean by deal with it.
-
I have a different question about the pool topic.
Besides the adult ethics thing that you should not pick on kids, and the, probably getting in a fight with their parents.
What do you think Carnival will do, or not do, if you are in the pool relaxing and kids are being annoying splashing around, and you verbally parent them telling them to get away from you? Maybe a little bluntly!

We are booked in cabin 6203 on the Conquest. This is what they refer to as an inside cabin with a window. I stumbled upon it in my search. I thought I hit a gold mine!! Quite happy to have light from a window (inside cabins can be SO dark). But now worried that cabins this far at the front of the ship might be too rocky? Neither of us get motion sick (usually) but should this be a concern? Also wondering if others found these too far of a walk to get to the pools & dining? Any feedback is appreciated!
Thanks.:)
We love then, we book early just to get them. We LOVE the full width "balcony" you have at the front of the ship, after sail away. Higher up is better, but most are handicap accessible so limited who can book them.
-
We unpack early, and place one suit case near the dresser standing up with the top unzipped. It is now a clothes hamper for the rest of the cruise. When clothes come off, they go in the hamper unless they are going to be worn again.
A glass is set on the metal serving tray and change and receipts go in it, for further review later if needed.
Everything else, fliers, capers, ads, all go in the trash.

Does Carnival still celebrate Halloween during October cruises?
Decorations and costumes?
-
It is when you purchase it in the quantities that Carnival does.
I always thought there was a big open hole in the front of the ship and the fish were just sucked in at random.

what would his south be?
Bill
Sorry, meant tips and such. If they will, I might "forget" my wallet too.
-
If Carnival makes an exception in your case, then it will have to make an exception every time a similar case comes up to be fair to everyone. Where does it end? The young man has learnt an important lesson that will benefit him the rest of his life. Look at this as a positive from an otherwise crappy situation.
I agree, and if Carnival had let him travel without his wallet (with his ID and money) should they have fronted him an OBC to cover his deposit, tips and south?

I always go and buy a new one a few days before we fly to the port, I test it to make sure it works, repacked in the original package, and take it on our trip. I usually buy a cheap one, 3 to 5 dollars. When I get home I use this one to replace the oldest, most worn one I have.

We were supposed to stop in Venezuela on our first Princess cruise in 2002. Princess decided at the last minute to not call on the Venezuelan port due to civil unrest at that time. I don't think that many ( if any at all) ships stop there now. It is way too chaotic. Also, 70 miles is not very close if you have to travel by sea. It may take too long.
I tried checking for flights also and they are not listed either, could not find any water taxi/ferry either.
Just thought would be interesting.
-
I'm not sure if it is a good idea. Venezuela has very serious civil unrest. There is very little food available for the people and there is looting and demonstrations ongoing. It has been al over the news. There is a travel advisory as well. The country is in terrible shape and you may be in danger by visiting.
Yea but when will we ever be that close again? Just checking if anyone has ever done that.

We are going to Curacao in October, being just 70 miles away, is it possible to take a tour or shuttle/ferry to Venezuela/South America?
-
We are going on the Carnival Conquest Oct 1 and we will be in port until like 11pm. I was wondering if it is possible to take an excursion to South America, Venezuela (Puerto Cumarebo) is about 70 miles.
I figure, when else will we be that close.
-
We are going to Curacao on a cruise in October, are there any excursions that take you to Venezuela? I see it is about 70 miles, and we will be there a long time.
-
We will be going to Curacao in October, do you need to fill out the EDonline immigration form? Or something like it?

I have done this in the past, but can not remember how the email address is set up, to contact the Maitra'd on the Carnival Liberty?
Have Special needs to discuss and lost the email address.

When we sailed out of Miami on the Liberty last fall, we had Faster to the Fun, which gets you zone 1 to get off also.
We set the luggage out as zone 1, then walked off the ship with the self assist, several crew did ask were our luggage was, we only had back packs, lied and said that was it.
Then when off the ship we were first in line to get in get our luggage and get out to the taxi line. Which we were a little behind the front.
Next time in March we will have Faster to the fun and will do the same thing, except one of us will go through customs and get in the taxi line, and the other will bring the luggage with a porter, to the taxi line, should work out great. I hope.
I do agree with the poster that reminded of the taxi/shuttle cost from Miami to FFL, if close in cost, I would go Miami, I find the airport a little Quicker on cruise return day, anyway, I think security knows most are from the ship and just wanting to get home, not blow up an airplane and all that stuff.
Just my thoughts.

I am less than 30 days out. I get "the call". I listen patiently how the PVP describes the OS room, the bathtub, the balcony, etc, etc,....I am not biting yet...I ask - what floor hmmm.......then I ask how much....look dude lets just cut to the chase. And then suddenly he is rushing ME off the phone. Because his sales pitch wasn't working and I wasn't excited about leaving my convenient room on the lido deck to spend more money for a OS. I did better researching my own upgrade. Thanks, but no thanks.
I wonder if they are "real" PVP's or just calling for the upgrades to fill the ship.
I got the call today also, well mine was an email, and I called in. The lady I got did not know that interior cabin 1004 was on deck 10, walkway view cabin. She thought it was on deck 1 walk way view. (would not be much of a view).
I told her now also, I am not going to PAY more for a down grade to deck 1.
I would take a balcony for my walkaway view, if they are offering. But I am cheap and not willing to pay much extra for the change.
-
I got an email about an upgrade on the Carnival Liberty today.
We are on the September 13 saling.
They wanted to move us from our interior to an oceanview cabin. For only $50.00
I told her NO WAY!!!!! I would do it for a Balcony cabin but not oveanview on deck 1.
By the way, we are in a 4J on deck 10, Walkway view HC cabin.
I told her did not want to go down that many decks, she said, well you are on deck 1 now, cabin 1004. I told her to look again, we are on deck 10, she did not know those cabin numbers.
Would you have taken a "upgrade" (downgrade) from deck 10, walk way view, to deck 1 ocean view, and have to pay $50.00 more for the cruise, plus $32.00 more for the trip insurance we have with Carnival?
-
I have been having some stability issues over the last year and have used a HC cabin on our last cruise when I had just had surgery, I have one booked for this September on the Liberty and did not get a letter request. We also have a HC cabin for my Sister Inlaw and she did not get a letter.
I just booked the Breeze on Carnival in a HC cabin and this time I got an email with the letter attached, but my reading the letter is that if I needed any thing SPECIAL to let them know, also about the size of wheel chair or walker if needed.
I have not sent it in because I do not need either, just need/want the grab bars for the bathroom, and low step height for bathroom due to my walking stability issues.
Have a great cruise, enjoy
