  1. I am the same as you, I go a bit nuts, in fact I have someone who I hardly know sending me their cruise compasses by post so I can have a quick scan of everything that's going on. But over resent years of cruising and trying to preplan everything before we go I have seen all my stressing come to nothing when we spot something new that wasn't there before.

Take it from someone who likes to pre-plan everything, just take a highlighter and do it at the end of the day when you get your copy.

  2. Both above posters are correct, the pre paid gratuities are for all members who you should tip, Head waiter, assistant waiter, the person who stands at the desk and smiles at you when you enter the restaurant and your cabin steward. So the $45 covers everyone.

At the end of your cruise you will be given the envelopes as usual and you put in a voucher and then hand it to the person. You don't have to do this as their tips have already been paid but it's a way to still say thank you. If you so wish you can still add more to it if you have had some outstanding service.

Hope this clears it all up

  3. Thanks for the info on the food issue, I now the gym will be a good idea to for us, we are not gym freaks but I am working hard not to gain more. Thank you to whoever it was that stated to use the stairs more, I have walked the stairs and really it seems better then waiting for the elevators that are always doing their own thing.

The Walk For Wishes....how much was the donation you gave to take part? I have seen it on Independence in the UK but have never been around to do it. I would love to do it as it's for a good cause and it's a bit of exercise :D

What a lovely review you have done as well.....i always enjoy the ones with pictures.

  4. Hi,

What they are trying to explain is that C&A points are added at the end of the cruise. You can't move up a level whilst the cruise is in progress. If this was the first leg of a B2B you would be able to move up at the end of the first leg.

I agree with this. We are doing a 10 night followed by a 3 night. After the 10 night I will be platinum but according to C&A I won't get recognised until 10 days after. All I will do is go to guest relations and say that I am now platinum and if I can get the benefits of platinum for the final 3 nights. My OH did it last time when he bumped up to Platinum after the first half of our B2B.

  5. To be honest i am with some of the other posters on here, if Royal Caribbean didn't do the itinerary i wanted i would quite happily change cruise companies just so i could do it. We have recently had this conversation in our household. My father-in-law wants to do a Norwegian cruise but RC only offer one and it's really short and not to the ports he wants to go to, so he is going on Grand Princess to do so. He said he wished that RC would do the cruise as he loves all the ships but the ports of call are of more interest to him then the ship.

And besides it's nice for a change. Me and my partner have discussed at some point trying an MSC ship just to have a change but that wont come for a while because we are due to be booked up on Royal Caribbean for the next 3 years.

  6. yes it will affect you. you get so used to the ships swaying that you get your "sea legs" you get used to the swaying that you hardly notice it after a day of being on the ship.

And yes afterwards it does take a few days to get used to being back on land, usually takes a day or 2 to get back to normal.

Don't panic as i have felt it as well. Last time i was on Independence the Irish Sea wasn't so smooth and she didn't handle it well, felt like i was drunk walking down the hall to our cabin.
