I thought this was a good move, to me having separate people serving wine delayed the whole process. Food comes, ask who is delivering the food to bring a top up or whatever wine you want and it comes. Otherwise it was like, I will send a wine waiter over, then they will eventually turn up. Bearing in mind, both wine waiters and food waiters are the same we didn’t have any problems, and a sommelier was always to hand for recommendations, it’s not as though they have lost crew to do this.

Must have been on the same cruise, good location, I think, we got picked up for a scooter street food scooter tour from the port, really good and recommended, lovely Vietnamese lady drivers in traditional outfits. It was damn hot walking the short distance to get to the port exit, exacerbated by all that concrete you are walking on.

Just wondering if anyone was done a private water taxi from Sopers Hole to the Soggy Dollar Bar? Having been to the SDB last year keen to visit again with some new first time Seabourn cruise friends of ours. I’ve seen some info online but wondering if any Seabourners have done this and recommendations on companies and how long we should allow for the round trip? Thank you :) Alternately, is there anything similar at Sopers Hole?

We are gold on a 16 day cruise a cool months ago and regardless of when we put the laundry in they correctly calculated our 3 free bags. As mentioned previously, its just a little perk but we all like a bit of a bargain:) One of the shirts I brought which was new and just meant to be worn with my swimming trunks had got a bit of a tear somehow, I put it into laundry anyway and miraculously someone in laundry had spotted it and had someone repair it, you couldn’t even tell there was a tear! That’s the Seabourn difference, I wish I’d mentioned it to house keeping but kept forgetting, such a nice touch, and of course no charge.

Thanks, Tillylovesseabourn! I'm pretty certain I'll love it too!! And not to hijack my own thread, but can you, or anyone tell me your thoughts/experiences on the Penthouse Suites on Quest? Many thanks!
Penthouse Suites are lovely! Love the extra room of course, bigger balcony, and if the wife wants to go to bed to read her book the room is glassed off from the living room so I can watch a bit of TV on the nice big TV without disturbing her. Got upgraded to spa suite a couple of cruises ago which was even bigger and an amazing walk in shower but I didn’t like just looking out to the stern of the ship and probably actually preferred the normal Penthouse Suite, we were in one of the 2 in the middle, massive balcony though. Have found it hard to go back to a veranda suite now, always the case when you have been spoilt so be warned :)

Are these what you had? A tad expensive here in the UK !!!!
Thanks, it looks like them but just a tad pricey... Might try them anyway :)

Had some really moreish nuts in the Observation Bar which I think were referred to as Nicks or Nix nuts? They had some sort of shell like coating with a nice powdery coating, anyone know what they are actually called so I can try and track some down? I imagine they originate from the USA but might be able to track down here in the UK?

I thought the change worked fine, I can't see that it is cost cutting when they have the same amount of staff, just trying to better utilise the staff. The majority of restaurants that we go to have the same people serving both the food and drinks and I'm sure people cruising with Seabourn already know what wines they prefer anyway and they also have the option of trying something different as a recommendation of the day. Obviously it will take a little while to get the staff trained up which is to be expected and on our recent cruise on the Sojourn they had a very nice Sommelier from Head Office on board doing training

He was on until Bali, not sure if he stayed on for the next sector though, very nice helpful chap.

In March last year we anchored just off of Terre-de-Haut and tendered in. Beautiful small pace with some rustic restaurants lining the crystal clear waters where the small pier was that the tender dropped you off at, loved that place.

Hopefully they have normal tonic and Mediterranean tonic, the Mediterranean is great with Vodka as it is a more subtle tonic. I thought I recalled that Seabourn were making their own tonic on board, not sure if that is still the case?
-
Do they have the other Fever Tree tonics on board as well? They certainly make a big difference compared to what is normally on offer which I think was Canadian Club?
Yes, they have. Fever Tree Naturally Light. I think it’s the best low cal tonic on the market.Sent from my iPad using Forums

I spoke with the headquarters guy who's currently on the Sojourn and will be overseeing the dry dock starting on Dec 3rd. In addition to converting R2 to TK Grill and general freshening up throughout the ship, all the guest rooms will get new electric outlets by the bed (which will be a major undertaking for them), and the main galley will get the equipment addition to enable the return of Galley Market lunch. There are many other upgrade items as well...
Sounds promising, looking forward to enjoying the refreshed Sojourn in March and hearing more on what’s been spruced up and changed. Really looking forward to the return of the Galley Market Lunch, hoping they will have the fondue and of course the vodkas on ice :)

Nelson from the Sky Bar on the Quest is very good at taking any personal items left on sun beds if they aren't attended after half an hour or so, and very good in general really at picking up towels and keeping things ship shape. Makes it so much better for everyone and hopefully gets the message across to the sun bed hoggers...

Ribena with Champagne, really, I'm not surprised it's not onboard, thought it was a kids cordial. As Lincslady says, Creme de Cassis is the way to go for a nice Kir Royal, and they certainly have that onboard :)
Not if you're in your room and fancy a quick kir royale it isn't!
In that case it doesn't matter if Seabourn have it onboard if you're having it in your suite for a swifty :)

I find that a shot of Ribena does the trick - the only snag is that you have to bring your own since Seabourn don't have it!

They are certainly provided in Penthouse Suites and there is normally a pair available at the Sky Bar but they are of very poor quality and well abused. Concur with Seacap - better to bring your own.
We didn't have any in our Penthouse Spa Suite on our recent Amazon cruise, although we had brought along an amazing pair of travel binoculars. They also had a larger version of our binoculars on the shop on-board, most likely as this cruise had just finished the Antarctic cruise season as had not seen them in the shop before.

Did our 5% jobbie onboard and got our eye on our next cruise, most likely 2019 though...

The new captain is very nice indeed and I think from HAL. His 1200 announcements are very informative as he likes to give a bit of nautical insight on different things. He is also very easy to understand over the tannoy as we struggled a bit to understand captain Dags announcements. We also had a very good CD, Jim Cannon, who I believe is new to SB. When we boarded in Manaus we thought he was a bit OTT but over the course of the cruise to FLL he mellowed out and was everywhere all the time, having a good time and mingling with all the guests, by the end of our cruise he was easily one of our favourites onboard. As usual, a bit of off topic rambling, probably as I am feeling depressed after my first day back at work... :)

There isn't really one on the Odyssey class ships, they have an old apple dock that isn't the lightning connector that will allow you to play music through the TV, not exactly hifi... We bring a Bose soundlink mini which is great sound, very small and plays through Bluetooth. There is also a Lot of on demand music you can play through the TV

Just log into the Seabourn wifi network and it will bring up all the available packages, select what you want, enter suite number and folio number on your room card and that's it, easy peazy. If you have the free press reader app you can use the wifi for free to download a multitude of newspapers to read on your tablet/ iPad, you can do this every day

I've asked the question in the past (quite a while ago) but are Seabourn still doing the complimentary Tote bags they leave in the suite? Just asking what with cut backs in certain areas wasn't sure...

Is Odyssey getting some work done?

Has anyone been onboard after the dry dock to confirm if anything was done onboard the ship as I would have thought any trip to dry dock they would try and do as much as possible and over a week they could do a surprising amount of work?
