  2. I've been quiet lately..  I had been using tapatalk to follow my favourite threads, but recently it's been giving me errors. So, I'm attempting to just use the website on my phone.  Friday my son came home from a three week aerospace technology and aeronautics camp, and Monday he turned 14.  I started to feel some excruciating back pain Sunday before heading to bed.  Bed found me wrapped up under three blankets, and still shivering.  Suffered through work Monday, then went to the after hours clinic, where the doc says "Well, looks like your kidney is infected."  Gave me a prescription, and away I went.  These antibiotics I'm on have already started to help with the pain, but side effects are already tearing their head too!  Ugh!

  3. Hi all!

Don't know if any of you follow mitsugirly but she's started her review of the Breakaway. It can hold us over 'til
    all aboard with Sid!

Sid ~how's the new guy doing? Did he make it in on time Tuesday?
Too bad about the items you wanted most being unavailable at the restaurant.
Looking forward to your next meal & cruise!!

I love mitsugirly's reviews! Will have to try and find it.

But it's only 64°F for me here! (Mind you, warmer than the 47 it was 70ft below the water lever Sunday)

But still, keep the pumpkin spice away in ANY weather! Margaritas are always better. I'll have to have one or a few when I'm in Mexico in January for you all.

  5. Well, today I took a nice walk to my garden, and pulled some green peppers and sugar snap peas. More than I should snack on, and it's just my son and I home for dinner. So configured I'd cook! I rarely cook.

    But tonight I did.

And it turned out fantastic! Especially with the fresh veggies!!

Fried rice with chicken, onions, and fresh peppers and peas. Yum!f95ad0f75ef7ece7df722ab57322d9c7.jpgac89ec3eab6072dc5fa7992311036c6a.jpg

Ok, now I'm totally bored... Stealing memes off of Facebook...
I'm at work, as I usually am during the day, and it sucks. Busy calls coming in, can't access much on the computer, tethered to my desk by a headset, and not allowed to have my phone out! Thank goodness break has arrived.

I've learned, though, that one of the few things I CAN access is wikipedia. So reading random ***** on there when I need to occupy myself.

Add on to it a head cold, Nd I just want to hide. Is it vacation time yet??

  7. Thanks everyone for the good wishes on the job interview - it was difficult, but I think I did well enough to get through to the next round, and there I think I have a huge advantage over everyone else. I won't know anymore before next week.

Sid, I agree with the others. Our fascination is with the intricacies of day to day life.  Not just yours but everyone on here. I think its cool that I have a cyber friend in Alaska, and other places too!

On another note, looks like my Seattle trip will happen.  I'll attempt a Live Review!!!
If you're looking for dining options, and like seafood, check out the Lockspot Cafe, near the locks and botanical garden!

  8. February 22 to 26th. We have a vehicle, but can easily park at Fulton if we are semi close.

I’ve had embassy on a hot rate. It’s not on there regularly though. Yes it’s in the warehouse district. I want to say it’s a 3.5 star. What are your dates?

  10. Saint Greg help!

So, we had a group of cruisers who were going to get an air b&b for mardi gras next year, but it recently fell through! Now they are booked at embassy suites by the convention centre. Have you ever seen it come up as a hit deal on hotwire? It seems like that's Warehouse district?

    Argh, so frustrated!

  11. I did my first cruise out of New Orleans earlier this year, and now I want to go back for a real vacation. One day is simply not enough...
This is why we arrive a day early, and staying 4 nights after!

  12. Zabnee, that sounds like a great cruise/trip.  How long is the drive?  I always wanted to see New Orleans, but haven't made it there yet.  Perhaps a cruise from there is the answer.
Drive time for us is about 20 hours. We have 3 drivers going.

  13. Well, 207 now, as I grabbed this yesterday. Which means 204 until I head off to drive from north of Toronto, down to New Orleans for a 14 day Journey cruise to the panama canal!

...then backnto NOLA for Mardi Gras shenanigans!40513cf94db5408b9279f2f50e3ffdf3.jpg

  14. Well, one of the many things that have happened this year, my 102 (almost) gramma passed away last month. Today we celebrate her life, and lift a glass in her memory.

We even put her in the grave with a nip of Jamieson and ginger ale, her favourite drink.

Currently on a Caesar (clamato juice, vodka, and Worcestershire sauce). Already had a palm bay.

For lunch today, I decided to try out a new place (new to me, it's been around for years) on Buford hwy... Ming's BBQ, which is famous for their crispy pork, as well as Peking duck... It's a small, hole in the wall type of place. (As are most of the ethnic restaurants in the area) I couldn't decide between the duck, crispy pork, or honey bbq pork, so I just had all three... The sauce served on the side, was fantastic. Apparently, the call it "amazing sauce" and they were correct... The duck has a crisp outer shell of skin, while the inside is so moist and delicious. Both different types of pork had their merits, and anything dipped in that sauce would taste good anyway. Like Guy Fieri says, you could put it on a flip flop...

  17. As hard as it is, everything happens for a reason Sid.  Wish there was a way we could help out with finding you some new housing, to help alleviate some of that stress for you.  It's been a rough start to the year for a few of us.  But that just means it can only go up from here, right??  Right....??

    **crickets in the background*

    Damn.  I was trying.  >.<
