  1. I just looked at an Asian cruise in late 2017 but I have looked at several and it seems that those few singles are being priced higher than the double. I will be eligible for the 150% soon but it's more a matter of principal with me - if a doubt is 2700 per person I expect the single to be in or around $3000 no more... Or it really isn't a single if you know what I mean.

  2. When Royal Caribbean announced that their Quantum Class ships would have some single cabins they received accolades from travellers and travel experts. Here was an opportunity for single travellers to book a cabin without paying the 100% supplement.

    BUT WAIT

In what appears to be a continuation of the practice of charging a single traveler double, Royal Caribbean have priced these single cabins higher than you can book a double cabin even paying the 100% supplement.

I tried to book a single on a couple of cruises here is what I found:

I could book a standard 198sq ft balcony cabin at $4450, $4600 and $5240 at the double rate ( depending on location) and yet the 119sq ft single cabin priced out at $5940.... For a single traveller.

Try as I might I have been unable to get any reasonable explanation from anyone at RCL at least any that makes any sense.

So in effect they are forcing single travellers to book a standard double cabin and pay the 100% supplement and are either withholding single cabins or pricing the single cabin higher than you pay for a standard double.

Single travellers need to make Royal Caribbean aware that they are once again gauging the single traveller and make this move into a public relations disaster. Write to the President of Royal Caribbean and express your disgust... Only by making this an issue can we change the pricing.

  4. I have been hunting for this thread for some time - just found it.

Im a retired professional ( Ex Brit) Canadian traveling alone. Diamond Plus so could meet in the Lounge OR ? Would love to get to know everyone. I managed to snag one of the studio balcony cabins ( single) so am looking forward to a balcony which normally I can't afford,...lol..

Anyway hope to see you all on board... on my way to Barcelona on the 7th...

  5. I am a single retired gay male also on the Ovation to Dubai. I look forward to the LBGT meetings because its a chance to spend a little time with "family" especially when traveling alone.

I just booked the shows and some of the special entertainment venues as well as the 5 pack of speciality dinners.

Anyway I too am Diamond Plus so if there is no LBGT I am sure Ill see you guys/gals in the lounge.

  6. Sorry for the late reply...love to have lunch on Saturday. I will be there and look forward to meeting you all.

I am in Vancouver nights of the 9th and 10th and will be staying in Shanghai for 4 nights when we arrive, then fly to Beijing and 4 nights there before returning home to Toronto.

I got a student tour guide in Shanghai - not sure yet of the itinerary but it helps the student out financially and is a lot cheaper than a professional tour guide.

Anyway, hope to see you all on Saturday.... MIKE

  7. Hi Guys

My name is Mike and I am sailing on the September Millennium cruise from Vancouver. I am retired, single and traveling alone. I have done many cruises and am Elite ( Diamond Plus) so will be using the lounge in the evening.

I hope to meet you on board - although the ships notice board usually shows the GBLT meetings at some difficult time and in a bar which isn't very conducive to meeting as a group. We may even have met before.

Anyway, nice to know there are some "friends": on board.

  8. Just returned from the Vision of the Seas Transatlantic from Lisbon to Miami. I have a single booked on the Independence for May 4th - Fort Lauderdale to Southampton then intend to spend a few days in London and maybe a week or so in Portugal afterwards. Single retired Canadian here…hope to meet anyone else on this cruise at the "friends of Dorothy Meeting onboard"

  9. Hi there. My name is Mike and I am a retired professional single gay male 62 years old. I am Diamond Plus on Royal Caribbean and like to do at least 2/3 cruises every year.

I have been cruising single and paying the full price but would certainly consider sharing my cabin on a purely platonic basis to keep the costs down and maybe allow me to do more cruises.

Here are two cruises I may be prepared to share a cabin.

February 2nd 2014 - Singapore to Hong Kong on Celebrity Millennium with stops in Thailand and Vietnam 15 days....Cruise only cost per person inside cabin $1,300. Air excluded. That's less than $100 per day

September 16th 2014 -San Francisco to Sydney Australia -23 nights on Celebrity Century- Cruise only cost per person $1,700 inside cabin- airfare extra. Thats less than $75 per day.
