How about that. A simple solution. That’s what I do every morning for she whom must be obeyed.

    Hank

That's exactly what my dad does. We go have a breakfast date together and then he brings back a plate for my mom and my two younger kids. He does this on every vacation. Not just cruises. I call her a pretty princess. 🙂

Yes, but the trick is to not let yourself get aggravated, even though that is difficult at times.  The way I look at it, it would be better to be on a cruise with a mask on, than at my house with no mask. If I have to get a test, well that part of my brain hasn't been cleaned since I took my first test.

I like the way you think! Completely agree. My husband and I booked our cruise last year. We have been canceled, changed ships, changed ports, changed destinations, changed rooms, but none of that matters. We are so happy to be cruising again, we're just going to go with the flow. We're both vaccinated, but will do whatever the new regs say to keep us and everyone else safe. Now, with that said, my oldest is a senior and currently planning his senior trip. He wanted to take a cruise and I talked him into a destination vacation instead. We have a 3 year old that cannot get vaccinated and I do not want to deal with the hassle of everything changing with the cruising industry. We're planning this trip for nearly 20 people, so it's much easier to choose something that isn't changing quite so rapidly. But, that's the beauty of it. We have the choice to do or not do. 😉 Keep the positive attitude!

According to John Heald, FTTF will not be available in July.  Those who purchased it will receive a refund.  No mention of August and beyond, but it's worth noting that it is no longer available on our September cruise.  It was still listed as of last night.  I am platinum so I haven't tried to complete a purchase, but it was letting me add it to the cart before.

We had purchased FTTF for our September cruise and just received a refund last week.

  4. We’re booked for September on now the Magic that’s was the Elation. Can you guys see your print documents? I can’t see our luggage tags or anything. We were refunded our FTTF but I never received any type of communication or anything from carnival explaining what was going on. We had a $250 onboard credit but now when I look at payment details, it has both of us with a $25 each OBC. I’d like to look at my invoice before calling carnival. Thank you in advance!!

My wife is the same way. She notices EVERY smell. She didn't say much while we were there in Costa Maya, so I made a point to ask her last night. She said the only time she noticed the smell was when we were in the taxi on the way out to Maya Chan. She said once we were at the beach, she didn't really notice it anymore. But she wasn't sure if that was just because she'd gotten used to it, or if it just wasn't as bad out there. In either case, we had a great time.

As far as recommendations for what to do - it's always been my impression that there's basically a couple of main options in Costa Maya. You can either hit the beach or tour the Mayan ruins. I'm not really into ruins, so we've never done that. We're more of a beach family and we have loved going to Maya Chan. If (most of) the adults in your party drink and you like the idea of an all-inclusive for the day, you really can't go wrong there. Our kids had a blast there too. There's plenty for them to do there. And if the seaweed is really bad the day you're there, they will give you the option of cancelling with a full refund. They're really good about that. It really is a seasonal thing, so it may not be a problem at all whenever you visit. If you're not into the all-inclusive thing, there's several other pay-as-you-go beach options closer to the port. I've heard good things about them, but never tried them myself.

I guess a third option is to just spend some time in the port area. It really is very nice. There's a lot of shops and restaurants and touristy things to do and see - like using the free pool, which looks really nice, or checking out the flamingos.

Thank you so much! I did hear back from them and Maya Chan is booked up. My dad is going to try to get discounted tickets to Lost Mayan since it closes at 5pm. Otherwise, we will most likely stay at the port area. Thank you so much for the information! I am very excited for this trip. My in-laws took us on a Disney cruise just a month ago, but we are loyal Carnival cruisers, so I'm ready to be back "home". Plus, this is my 4th time on the Fantasy. She's one of my favorite ships.

  6. Perfect. Thank you so much! There are 15 of us and only 2 in our group have been to Costa Maya. The kids range in age from 2 to 15 and 9 adults. Would you recommend this for a group like that? My biggest concern is the seaweed. My mom has the nose of a hound and I'm afraid the smell would make her sick. Is it that bad?

  7. Do you happen to have the Fun Times from this trip? Or, can you tell me what (ish) was scheduled for the ship for the Costa Maya evening? We are trying to decide what we want to do while in port next week and the big factor is whether or not we will return to the ship for dinner. We have never missed a meal in the MDR, but with the timing of arriving into Costa Maya, we're debating staying on the beach until the evening time. What are your thoughts on this?

  8. My daughter was a year old on her first cruise and my baby is going to be 20 months old on his first cruise this July. My oldest was 3 on his first cruise. When we took my daughter, she was a year old, but not walking yet. She was delayed on her gross motor skills, so she was more at the 9 month level. We had a blast with her. We were on the Fantasy, so there was a zero entry area where she just sat and played the whole time. When we stopped at Cozumel, we went to paradise beach. I had taken some cheap sand toys to the beach and she just sat under the umbrella in the sand and played the entire 3 or 4 hours we were at the beach. She slept through the night and never cried or disrupted our neighbors. She loved the happenings in the main dining room, so we were able to enjoy dinner every night.

I do second the bringing an umbrella stroller. We had her stroller with us, so when we went for walks on the ship, she just strolled along. It really was an enjoyable experience. The worst part of it was that she didn't like the crib that was provided. It had a board for a mattress, so she slept with my husband and me. Other than that, it really was an enjoyable trip. It actually gave us reason to rest a little more since she was on a nap schedule. I do remember that my husband would stay in the room with her so that my oldest, my parents and I could enjoy the shows. My in-laws were also there, so we always had someone to sit in the room with the baby if we wanted to do something after dinner. She was typically in bed by 8 or 9. A must-have in our room was a travel DVD player. We brought several of her movies and she would chill in the room watching movies.

We did do a 5 day instead of a 7 day just to test the waters, pardon the pun.

  9. It is my understanding that if you show up prior to your selected check-in time, you will be turned away until your check-in time. I have heard people say that they were turned away and weren't even able to park prior to their check-in time. I think it mostly depends on the terminal.

  10. I second the Yeti cup (or some type of metal cup). I took one on my last cruise and LOVED having it with me. It was so great to have cold water all day long. I even filled it up before heading off the ship and walked around drinking the nice cold water.

  11. Others have said this too, but I'll chime in. My kids are 14, 10 & 17 months. The two older kids have been cruising since they were 3 and 1. The baby is taking his first two cruises this summer, one with DCL and one with CCL.  The older two LOVE CCL. They love the water slides and the kids' clubs. We did the Dr. Seuss breakfast and parade when my older two were 10 and 7 and they both absolutely loved it. We are looking at RCL for next summer, and my two older kids picked CCL again because they want the water slides, ropes course and all of the offerings of the newer CCL ships over the offerings of the RCL ships. Not to mention, we could get more port experiences for the price difference. It all depends on what your kids like.

It's not too hard for you, or anyonez to figure it if Cheers is worth it for them. Some quick math will give you your answer. No need to make ANOTHER thread asking the same question as dozens of other people.

Why be so rude? If you don't need help in this area, why come in the thread just to belittle someone?

I'm on vacation and have a sweet tooth!  On land, it is 1 of those a year, lol.

Allura-you are nicer than I am. Does it really matter how many milkshakes, smoothies, whatever you want to have in a day or on a cruise? This is YOUR vacation.  Enjoy yourself!

  14. My husband and I decided to do Cheers because we're traveling without kids, family or friends for the first time since our honeymoon 18 years ago. Neither one of us is a big drinker, but we love specialty coffees, bottled water, milkshakes, sport waters. I LOVE that spreadsheet BTW. I'm a CPA, so spreadsheets are my jam. Anyway, I put in only 8 alcoholic drinks over our 5 day cruise TOTAL, but with all of our non-alcoholic drinks expected, it was well worth the cost for us. Plus, if your budget allows for it, then it would give you the opportunity to try some other drinks that you might not try if you were paying by the drink. It's vacation! Splurge a little and enjoy yourself!

If you already paid for your cruise it should show up on your boarding pass. You don't get your boarding passes until the cruise is payed in full. I would have to think that because your parents are Platinum priority just shows up on the reservation form.

Yes, I finally found it. My parents' luggage tags have "priority", but mine do not. I went to the cruise documents themselves and found it on our check-in documents. Thank you!

  16. My husband, children and I are staying in a Grand Suite on the Fantasy this July. My parents are Platinum and staying a few doors down. Their boarding passes say Priority, but ours do not. Do we not get priority boarding with a suite? And, if anyone has any pictures, I'd love to see them. Thanks!

  17. Thank you everyone! We typically cruise with a large group (the smallest being 10 in the party), so we have never sat with people we didn't know before.  Very much looking forward to some time alone with my husband without our 3 kids!

  18. My husband and I will be travelling alone this September for the first time since our honeymoon 18 years ago.  I currently have Early dining. We love the main dining room and the happenings during dinner. So, for those of you that have traveled just the two of you, do you prefer YTD? Do you enjoy getting sat with other couples and mingling throughout the week? I am an introvert by nature, but do enjoy meeting new people. My husband is in the media and very outgoing, so this is no problem for him. What are you thoughts? We will be on the Dream, if that matters at all. This is our first time on the Dream as well. This will be my 11th cruise and my husband's 10th cruise, all with CCL. Thank you!
