  1. Just was on the star new area h2o was to be for adults only and the hot tubs were filled with Children most of the time. The food was horrible but the rooms were refreshed and look great.

I work with children but to say i was shocked by how they behaved on board would be an understatement. Teaching manners must be lost on young parents now days as I was bumped pushed and ran into far to many times. Elevators are my pet peeve as most people simply do not understand that you let people off the elevators before getting on to it.

Loved the stops and staff were very good for the most part.

Getting off the ship embarking is a joke. They tell you that you can not walk off the ship but at 7:30 am there was a long line on deck 7 waiting to do just that. Walk off of deck 4 as there was no line and it was off the ship before they opened Deck 7 to let passengers walk off.

Same with the tender process I never bothered to line up to get tender tickets I simply went down to deck 4 and joint the line and got off early without lining up at 6am for a ticket. We book a private shore excursion and was off the ship at 7:10 before they called tender number 1.

Overall it was a great cruise but thinking the food is bad because they have to make money on the UBP and to me this is sad. So you either eat at the extra cost restaurants or go elsewhere.

  2. We sailed twice now on 14 days and one was a b2b and the menu repeated it's self. We dined in the main dinning room and the buffet and never got bored. We like to sit outside and the buffet allows us to do this. We always eat once while in port as well and this allows us to vary the choices as well. On at sea days we skip breakfast all together and this keeps the calorie count down. We also eat at the other on board restaurants. Enjoy the Cruise lots of variety, for me not going to the main dinning room all the time has made all the difference as that gets boring. Sitting on the deck eating and watching the ocean and sunset is what makes me happy.

  3. Recently my husband has been so busy at work, we have travelled less. Therefore when we do travel, I prefer to stay in nice accommodations and make the most of it.

I do not consider myself royalty, but nor is it menial to me. I can afford it and I do appreciate it. I can also afford a Chanel purse, and I do appreciate it.

Not sure what that attitude is here. Jealousy? If so, get over it.

    Get over it....lol!

The ship goes to the same places no matter how much you pay for the place you sleep.

It is not worth it at all, when that same extra cost could be used to take longer and more frequent vacations.

  4. I was on a back to back with a cabin change. We packed our bags and the attendant took them to the next cabin. We were the last people off the ship and taken through by a employee to re-board the ship and given new cards and were on the ship for about 90 minutes with just the other 6 who were also on back to back cruises. Went to the food crammer and had a lovely meal and drinks without having a sole around went to the hot tub as well with the whole place to our selves.

You will get all the information you need the night before that will tell you what you ill have to do.

    Enjoy!

  5. Awesome read and we have booked for next July and are excited.

One thing I noticed that was the same with the tender process of lining up for tickets for the tender is not required as it was the same as the Jade. We were on a back to back and had two tender ports and we lined up the first week at the first port but realized that it was just a control issue and never bothered at the next port nor the next week we simply got in line and got on a tender when we wanted to go.

Thanks for the review as I now know that we booked the right cruise as part of our Euorpe trip.

  6. I have read the Zika carrying mosquito is a day feeder.

Wait a few weeks and call again. They are already reporting cases in Florida, however, I don't know if is people who traveled and were infected outside Florida or if they were infected in Florida. They say this virus is spreading explosively. World Health Organization said today they expect there will be 3-4 Million cases in the Americas in the next year.

It seems that all Virus carrying Mosquitoes are day feeders. Dengue and Chikungunya are day feeders as well.

  7. Fantastic, thanks!

Can you also shed some light on the embarkation process--I am new to NCL.

I have read in another thread that they let you select a time to be there, but that time doesn't necessarily have anything to do with boarding times. Is this also true for the Jade?

We generally show up for any cruise around 10:30 and are usually on board by 11:30, but it sounds like NCL might have a different process with the times they tell you to be there. If we want to minimize our wait at the pier, but also get on board as soon as we can (we are not in a suite), what time would you suggest picking?

Thanks again for your help -- much appreciated :)

The time you select to arrive is meaningless as you are assigned a group number when you arrive as they had out cards as you arrive into the terminal.

The embarkation started around 11:30 or so when we boarded for our first week and around the same time the second week as they announced it as we were already on board as we only had to go through customs and were allowed back on.

We had group 8 and were on the ship by 11:50 am. We were also able to go directly to our room to drop off our carry on items.

  8. B1/B2 visa.. means visitor visa.. which most likely mean when they arrived, your parents filled out I94 form. This is the arrival record form, whereby the Immigration official indicate the length of your eligible stay for this "visit". Based on your post, they are eligible to stay until April 8, 2016. This doesn't mean their visa is extended to April 8, 2016. Simply mean as long as they are in the US, they are eligible to stay until April 8, 2016. If they decide to leave the country for another country, it will constitute the end of their "visit". At which point, they will need to fill out another I-94, and a valid visa. However, your parents no longer have a valid visa, as it has expired on October 9th.

Honestly NCL, well really not NCL, but the port agent did you a favor for not having your parents board. Had they board and leave the country, you are looking at a very expensive, and stressful flight back to China immediately.

They can leave the USA for 30 days to Canada or Mexico during the 6 months on their Visa and can reenter the USA on the same B2 visa, any other country and it is considered to be a new visit into the USA and a new Visa is required.

  9. I called IAH but it got transferred to national reservations which had no idea about the extra discount. When I drop off at League City, I'll talk to them there. Hopefully they take the discount off. I got a mid size for $19 but after taxes and fees, it's $43.

I called the League City Hertz directly and asked them about being dropped off at the port and was offered the $25 discount.

    +1 281-557-9800

Nothing was added to my reservation number etc....I simply told them I was offered the discount by Shannon or Sharon memory a little fuzzy after all those drinks.

  10. Thanks for this. We actually got a rental at IAH and was going to uber it after I dropped it back off at the airport. Did the Hertz at League city call the taxi? How long did it take?

Yes they called the taxi and it took about 5 minutes. The League City Hertz is open on Saturdays until Noon.

I used Expedia.ca to book the car. This Hertz offers drop off service hence why the $25 off in Lieu of drop off service.

  11. Sorry, I misread the post. I thought comcox was referring to bringing the water in to the Roatan port, not in to the pier during embarkation. Yes, I agree that security might stop you cause people love their vodka in the AM.

A sniff of the substance is enough to determine if it is booze or water.

The process for embarkation is a joke....they give you a time to show up but it really is a first come first serve process as you are given a number that determines when you board.

    Another tip:

I rented a car from Hertz at IAH and dropped it at League City and they credited my bill $25 in lieu of dropping us off at the port. Call ahead and ask for this. It cost me a total of $14 for the car rental from IAH pick up and drop off at League city and a $35 taxi fare. So under $50 for both my wife and I and we had a car to use for the day. Far cheaper then the NCL or supper shuttle cost for two.

  12. No PM's suck.

Ok here is the tender secret.....they collect the tickets on the 6th floor. Go to the 4th floor and join the line. No tender tickets required at all:D.

I had a room on the 4th floor and during my first week of our back to back cruise we lined up to get tender tickets and went back to our room. When they called our tender number we left our room and no one asked us for our tender tickets as we joined the line on the 4th floor as that is where the tenders leave from. We never lined up afterwards for tender tickets as we simply joined in the line on the 4th floor and got in the tender, both weeks.

Now NCL could change where they take the tender tickets but it is unlikely. Happy Cruising!
