  1. My husband and I are on the same cruise in October. I’m planning on layers for sure and will probably throw in a pair of shorts. Rain jacket too. Can’t count on previous weather history anymore!

I’m really looking forward to the cruise as we had to cancel a similar one last year just theee days before departure due to family emergency. I have been planning this trip for about 20 months now! It is our first Regent cruise. Our main concern is that we still haven’t been assigned our Concierge Suite yet. We have a guaranteed suite, but it makes my husband very nervous.

  2. Last year we upgraded our United Explorer Visa card which includes trip cancellation insurance as a free included benefit (up to $10,000 per person per year). My husband is over 75 now so the insurance prices leap. We had booked a Adriatic cruise last fall with Regent and had to cancel at the last minute due to our daughter's surgery. We filed a claim with the credit card company (lots of paperwork), and it has taken 5 months; but the check is in the mail to us- full reimbursement of $18,000.

We had obtained medical insurance (including medical evacuation through Travelex) which cost about $59 when you put $0 in for the cost of the trip. So overall, a great way to go.

  4. Just discovered the value of the United credit card trip cancellation coverage. When I got another quote on my trip insurance without that coverage (put $0 in the cost of the trip when getting the quote) the cost went from $1800 to $124 for both of us!! I am 66 and my husband 75. The medical insurance and evacuation coverage was the same, just no trip cancellation or interruption coverage from Travelex - that would be covered by the United card. I was shocked at the difference! But a very good shock.
