  1. If you are in Dubai for a few days prior to the cruise, could you have the tea on a different day? My husband and I cruised out of Dubai last November and went for tea at 4:30 so we could be there at sunset. It was spectacular! The tea service takes quite some time and is lovely, so it shouldn't be rushed. The amount of food along with champagne, tea etc was enough for our dinner. As you already know it's not inexpensive so try to go when you can relax and enjoy it.

  2. I've found the blow dryers onboard to be adequate (and leaves me extra space in my suitcase) but I always bring a curling iron and/or straightener with no problem at boarding. The problems I have had are at hotels pre and post cruise. Once in Paris and once in Copenhagen I've blown out my curling iron, even though I used an adapter, so I won't even bother in the future. Beware!

    Btw, clothes steamers are allowed on NCL.
