Finally, Sun Princess and Icon look amazing!!!  Anyone sailing on either in the near future?  Have you seen the Empire Supper Club menu on Icon? I will definitely be doing that.

I'm on the Sun Princess right now. I think the ship is beautiful, but I'm finding it hard to navigate.  It is awesome being on a ship where everything is new though!

On prior builds, the glass panels between the cabana and the balcony accordion fold so that the entire space opens up and the panels are out of the way.  Is that the case with yours?

Nice! Thanks for the photos.  Do the doors from the cabana to the cabin fold out also?

Whoops, I stand corrected. The door from the cabin to the cabana is a slider, while the door from the cabana to the balcony opens out to the balcony.

I'm sorry I will admit I took these when we first boarded and have not been back up to the room since. I'm pretty sure the door from the cabin to the cabana open the same way.. .but will confirm once I'm in tha cabin again. We are having so much fun!!😊

I see that you are in one of the Cabana MiniSuites that are on the Sphere.

All other info shows that for those located on the Cabana Deck the balcony area is not covered.

Getting a Cabana with a covered or partially covered balcony might depend on the specific cabin/location?

Just making sure everyone reading understands.

Yes  you are correct. I should have made that a bit more clear...these pics are just from the mini suite cabana in the sphere on deck 11. And also for reference we are on the starboard side.

  6. Hello....lurker here, but I had a situation happen recently and felt the need to chime in regarding the subject of alcohol.  I'll try to make this as short and coherent as possible, but I do have a tendency to ramble. 😊

My husband and I have a friend who was a raging alcoholic.  Lost his high paying job because of it.  Lot a toe due to complications of alcohol and diabetes (he's lucky he did not lose his foot).  He as a belligerent, obnoxious drunk and I'm pretty sure he got violent with his gf as well.  It got to the point that we did not want to even to socialize with him anymore.  When covid hit, I think it was the perfect excuse for him to just hide away and drink.  He pretty much stopped contacting my husband.

Fast forward to last weekend.  I had a small surprise get together for my husband for his birthday.  I was reluctant to invite him and his gf and thought they would never come, since we have not seen them since pre-covid.  When they responded "yes" I was shocked.  Then I started to worry about what kind of shape he would be in and worried about them driving home after as they live about 30 mins from us (his gf drinks a lot as well).

Well, come to find out, he's been sober for 2 years!!!  We had an absolute blast with him and his gf (who has really cut down as well).  He was funny, personable and so much the old person we knew prior to his deep dive into alcoholism.  It made our night.

So, my thoughts are, if he can quit, anyone can!!  It gives me hope that anyone can do anything if you put your mind to it.

It was just such a happy, uplifting night, I just had to share.  I have had such joy in my heart for him!! There is hope!

Man, I just read a review on the British Isles and I cannot wait to book one!  It looks so freaking awesome!  Castles! OMG!  I want to see them all!  Hopefully I can book one for 2025.  I need to be concentrating on my Alaska cruise next year and don't get me wrong, I am hyped about that but Scotland and Ireland? I may not wanna come home!

Oh, I am interested in what review as well.  We leave for a British Isles cruise (Azamara) on July 19th.

I am from the Uk originally.

The Uk in July can have all 4 seasons in one day. It can start out spring like then get sunny & hot, then rain & wind  & end up with autumn.

Light weight long pants & capris are good with maybe 1 pair of shorts. (They do have hot days)

A rain coat with layers under is good. Short sleeve T-shirt or blouse with a cardigan or jumper.

This is what I was afraid of.  I am notoriously and over-packer, so this is going to be hard for me 😏

@Milly1966 There is a poster on the Celebrity and Azarama boards,

    @Bimmer09

He has done a number of European cruises and ,possibly, a British Isles cruise.
He is very informative , witty and a good photographer

You may also want to check out the Princess boards as Princess offers a very popular British Isles cruise.

I am not certain that anyone on this thread is familiar with Azarama or European travel.

Most posters here favor Carnival,NCL andVirgin  Voyages.

    Wishing you a bon voyage!

    MJ🙋🏻‍♀️

Thank you for this suggestion!  I will certainly check out that poster and the Princess board as well.  We are mainly Carnival cruisers too ( with a smattering of NCL, Princess and Celebrity) so I'm thinking this will be a big change for us.  My husband commented "I think this cruise will be stuffy"  LOL!!

Personally, I wouldn’t bother with shorts. That’s cold to me. Definitely take the raincoat and sweaters. For dinner, pantsuits and dresses. It’s nicer but not too fancy. You won’t see jeans anywhere.

Thank you!! Pantsuits are a great idea!  DH will not be happy with the "you won't see jeans" tho.....

  11. Hello all Tribe members, lurker here looking for some help.  We have a British Isles cruise on Azamara coming up in July.  We have never been to the UK and never sailed with Azamara. I am trying not to over pack, so I am looking for suggestions as to what type of clothing to bring for both excursions and on the ship.  Doing a Google search for weather in Ireland, England and Scotland in July lead me to expect rain and temps in the high 60s low 70s.  Do I even need to bring shorts/sandals?  Should I stick with long pants or capris.  I have a raincoat that I can layer something warmer underneath if needed.  And what about shoes....do I need in invest in a pair of waterproof/resistant shoes?

And for those of you with experience on Azamara, any input is appreciated on how to dress for dinner in the main dining room. Or any thoughts in general regarding Azamara.

We are just under 2 months away from this cruise and I am completely stressed about packing!  So thanks for ANY suggestions!!!

  12. Hi, just boarded the Mardi Gras today with a party of 4. My husband was the only one who was able to complete the VeriFLY check in process without getting an error message at step 5, the final  step in the process. We were told that they are just rolling this out, even though my husband  had it completed in its entirety, he still had to show the actual printed documents. It will be nice once they work out the bugs, but until them, its redundant.

  13. Hello daily lurker here with a question for Sid or Saint Greg...or anyone who has been on the Mardi Gras.  We are sailing this Saturday and are wondering for the best area to watch the playoff games?  I have asked in the Carnival thread and it seems to be the consensus that the Heroes Tribute Lounge would be great, but from what I can tell, there is only indoor seating there?  Due to the sip and cover rules we would really like to be outside.  So, my question is, are there any outdoor bars that have tvs?  It seems to me we watched another playoff game on the Dream many years ago at an outdoor aft bar that did have a tv...wondering if there is something similar on the Mardi Gras.

Also, I know they may show it on the big screen on Lido and if so, are there tables that we could sit at and view the screen versus sitting in the loungers?

Thank you for any advise and Go Pack 🙂

  14. Forgive me if these questions were covered previously, but either the search function for CC is not the best or my abilities to utilize the search function are lacking….the later is most likely correct!

I understand that since we are Platinum, we will be able to select an arrival time 2 days prior to others, but can anyone tell me what the earliest arrival time is?

Regarding the new process for the muster drill, will 2 people in the same room be able to go at different times or do we have to go together.  Will they scan each boarding pass/sail and sign card separately or just one per room?  I am not trying to get out of doing the muster drill…just doing them at separate times (we have our embarkation cruise rituals)  😊

Also, regarding the muster dril,l we are in room 9430 (not sure if that is considered aft or middle), but can anyone tell me where our muster station may be?  I’m thinking from previous posts that it may be deck 7, Palm Restaurant.

And most importantly…where is the best place to watch NFL?  We will be on the ship during playoffs and fingers crossed our team will be playing!  We originally thought the sports bar, but with the “sip and cover” restrictions we would obviously like to be outdoors.  Do any of the outdoor bars have TVs?  In 2010 we watched our team beat the Chicago Bears while we were on the Dream, and if I remember correctly, we were in the aft bar.  Does a similar bar exist on the Mardi Gras?  On a side note: our team went on to win the Super Bowl that  year...bonus points for anyone who knows who our team is!

Thanks in advance for any answers!

    Cheers!

  15. Hello Tribe,

    Daily lurker checking in.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoy following along with everyone's daily life.

I wanted to share some pictures from the other day.  I know most people are anticipating the return of warmer weather, but I am on the opposite spectrum and really love winter and colder weather.  We had about 3 inches of snow when I woke up Wednesday morning and I took these pictures while out walking my dog that morning.  We live behind a golf course and have permission to walk our dog out there when there isn't anyone golfing and it was truly breathtakingly beautiful!  Of course the snow is long gone now, but I really enjoyed it while it lasted.

I hope the pictures show up as I have never tried to upload a picture on this site before.

Big thank you to Sid for starting this thread and to all of you for keeping it going!

  16. HI Sid's tribe!

Dailey lurker checking in here. I just wanted to add that I work in health care and had my first vaccination yesterday.  I received the Pfizer vaccine and have no side effects what so ever.  Since I have a major allergy to fish, I had to wait for 30 mins after to make sure I had no reactions.  Others that did not have any major allergies had to wait 15 mins.  I work for a very large university health care system and the entire process was very well organized.

I also just wanted to say that I really enjoy this thread and reading what everyone is up to every day.  You are a great group!  And I miss Sid as well!!
