Email from Crew Member at home now, wrote---   "After arrival, each ship must do their 14 days quarantine onboard at anchorage and get recheck and then are release and the Philippine Government then requires an additional 14 day quarantine in house, before cleared."

Three ship from the west coast are heading for Manila and the East coast is going to use Crown and Island Princess to return all Filipino Crew from those 6 ships around the Bahamas.  Expecting to take 32 days transit home, going south/east, passing South Africa.  departure day not yet announced.  Barista friend on board now.  Long way to go home.  Thirty two days travel and another 28 days quarantine.  Two more months before they are really home. TOUGH !

Since there are so many crew members on board, are they letting the crew stay in passenger staterooms?  I hope they are letting them eat in the Horizon Court too!  😉

    Still not safe enough.

We will never be in the cabin at the same time. We will sleep in shifts. Once again, you can never be too careful.

If enough people cancel, maybe Princess will lower the price and you can each get your own cabin and twice the cruise credits! 😉

They are to be switching over to the medallion in December 2020.

Thanks everyone.  My cruise is Oct 2020, guess I'll just miss it.   We have the BSE, I love my cappuccinos.  I see on the Island, there is no International Cafe, but La Patisserie.  Is it basically the same thing?  Are Cappuccinos, soda and a glass of merlot included in the beverage package?

  4. The last couple of cruises I have gone on, we have had the medallions.  I'm used to them and like it.  My next cruise is on the Island Princess.  Is the Island using the medallions or just the regular old cruise card?  Thanks!

We had a 12:20 pm flight last June from Heathrow when we were on the Crown Princess.  We took the Princess transfer from Southampton and were at the airport at 10am.  We had to sit around and wait for an hour before the gate at terminal 3 opened. Just our experience, everyone has a different answer.

That's the problem with Princess transfers, even if you have a later flight, they make you arrive before the terminals even open.  Last time I left from LHR, my flight was at 2.  I arrived via Princess shuttle at 8am.  For $75 I was able to change to a 10am flight!

If you book with a $1 deposit, are you later able to add a FCD and receive the onboard credit?

One could add the FCD at final payment, but they are only going to get the $100 off the balance, not the OBC associated with it. FCD’s must be used at the time of the initial booking in order to receive the OBC.

The referenced post said the person used 1 FCD for 2 people and got $100 deposit for each. I do not think that is true.

This is not true.  If one passenger has an FCD, their roommate will also get the $100 deposit, but that is it.  No additional OBC.

I have done this several times.  I have a cruise booked with an FCD.  I get $100 deposit plus OBC.  Later a friend decides to join me on the cruise.  They don't have any FCD's.  They will only have to put down $100 as a deposit, not 10 or 20%.  They get no OBC.

Thank you Astro Flyer.  This is exactly what I was looking for.  I have lots of extra OBC for the upcoming cruise.  I thought if there was something nice I would get it.  I agree, these prices look crazy for what it is.  I think we will go with the Amazon FitBit holders.  For less money we can get wristbands and pocket clips!  If I want a lanyard I'll use a VB one I have. 😊

  9. I will be taking my first Ocean Medallion cruise in Oct.  I was wondering if anyone had pictures of the different kinds of accessories you can get to hold the medallion?  I didn't see anything on the Princess site.   I'm guessing they are only available once you board.  Do they have fancy stuff, rhinestones, etc?

    thanks!

Shhhhh, don't tell everyone but you can request a hand held shower in your cabin before you cruise and it will be waiting for you in your stateroom!!!

    See the review below:

I requested one once.  Never again, what a joke!  they unscrewed the regular shower head and attached one with the flexible hose.  Too bad there was nothing to attach the shower head to.  You had to hold it all the time.  When not in use it just rested on the shower floor.  More trouble than it was worth.

  11. How in the world would you know that it "touched someone's hands"? Needless worrying about nothing.

    Tom

There is no way I would eat something left unwrapped in my cabin. That is inappropriate. Yeah right after the cabin steward finished cleaning the toilet he placed those on your bed. Or perhaps it is the chocolate given to him as a gift by a passenger. ;)

Hygiene is not their strong suit considering they have training on their own personal hygiene.

  12. The 2 that have the FCC should use them as deposits and should be indicated as the 1st & 2nd passengers in the cabin. That way both with receive the OBC. The one that does not have an FCC should be indicated as the 3rd passenger, and will pay a full deposit with no OBC.

If only one in the cabin has an FCD, all are entitled to the $100 deposit, but not the OBC.

Only 1 shareholder credit/cabin. However, if the 2 that own the shares are not related then I believe that each will receive a shareholder OBC once documentation is submitted. Have your T.A. check it out.

Even if the shareholders are unrelated, different names and addresses, but they are sharing a cabin, only 1 person is entitled to the shareholder OBC. That really stinks.

If all are linked to the same credit card then in the end all OBC is netted together.

I have not found this to be true either. Everyone has their own statement and OBC no matter what CC is used.

    ;):ship::D

  13. Day of is risky of course. That being said, we will take our 18th cruise in Oct. For economic reasons we have always arrived in our departure port the day of. There has never been a problem. We book all flights through ezair. These included many international flights. Good luck. Most responses will say don't risk it.

I have my 44th cruise coming up and always fly the day of. Only once did I have a tiny bit of a close call flying from EWR to LHR. Plane left late, but Princess was waiting at the airport for us. There were others from the cruise on the flight also.

Everyone doesn't always have the circumstances or $$ to fly in early. I have elder care and pet care (5 animals) to pay for, in addition to using vacation days from work. Flying in early would mean lots of extra money.

  14. It isn't just location, across the fleet M1, M2, M4 and M6 = Club Class. Book one of these cabins and you will receive all the Club Class benefits including the most important Club Class dining.

Interior layouts of mini suites on each ship are the same. Any exception is noted in red on the Princess deck plans when you click on a specific cabin.

You must look at the specific ship deck plans to find where each category of cabin is located. The deck plans they show you when booking a cruise, do not have the M1, BB, IA, etc. designations.

  15. Follow the money. If there’s money to be made, Princess (or any cruise line) will accommodate you. It’s all based on spending amounts and patterns, and what kind of deals they could make. As long as people buy what’s in the shops now, that won’t change.

There are probably as many, or more, people who hate Starbucks as there are who love it. I hate the burned taste and feel it’s way overpriced. People say, “You should add cream and sugar to make it taste better.” Really?

There is not enough cream and sugar in the world to make Starbucks coffee palatable! Hate it and definitely way overpriced!! And for Land's End, who the heck shops there? Certainly not me or any of my friends! I don't cruise to shop. ;)

  16. My favorite cruise was a 4 day re-positioning of the CB from Puerto Rico to NY. I love to dance and they had the ballroom duo Noel & Victoria on board. They taught all the ballroom dance classes and even gave private lessons. I was thrilled to take a cha-cha lesson with Noel! The dancers from the show also gave dance classes rather than just the usual line dance stuff from the CD's staff. Sea days and dancing equal a great cruise for me!! :D
