  1. there is usually an orientation the first night and there will be a kids schedule for the entire week. We always get one per kid plus one for us so that they can mark the things they are interested in and we can mark on ours what they want to do so that we can refer back to that for the day if we need to get them out of camp for some reason. And we make sure they know the activities we will be in so if they need to find us or the camp staff needs to find us they will know where to look.

  2. Something else to think about. Why do millions of school kids ride in busses twice a day to school without seat belts?

    I wonder the same thing.

And a parent or teacher tieing a child to their seat to keep them out of trouble is considered child abuse....but taking a crying screaming baby/child out of a car seat where they are "tied down" is also considered child abuse or rather neglect.....

yeah there are a lot of things that to me seem backwards in a society......

  3. we don't take them. The kids ride on a lap or in the seat next to you. I survived my babyhood and toddler life without all the restraints that we are forced to put our children in today. Don't think a bus or train is any less likely to get in a wreck though.....if you are someone that feels strongly about having your child in a car seat then you need to do like a previous poster did and hire a private tour guide that you can mak sure they have seat belts in their car or just do things that you can walk to.

  4. In the past we have just gone to orientation long enough to get the kids fun times (their activities are not in the regular fun times) and then left to do other things. the orientation is basically the club leaders getting up and talking a little to get the kids excited about cc....if your kids are already excited....no need....kind of for those that aren't too sure they want to leave mommy and daddy.....And lets the parents get a chance to meet the people that will be with their kids for the week.

There have been times we didn't even make it to the orientation.....they would not let us have their fun times before the orientation so we just got the kids there first thing in the morning when they opened up and did all that...no biggie....

On some cruises there was also a welcome aboard party that my daughter loved....that was always during our dinner time so I would leave dinner early with her to go to this...because it was not a drop and leave kind of thing it was a family activity. There are some ships that haven't had it and some that have. And on our last cruise they made it sound like they don't do it at all any more...so i'm not sure if they will have it or not.

My kids also found that they liked it less and less each time just because they kept getting older and the stuff was the same each time......they are excited that they will both be in the circle C this time....something different.

  5. There is so many choices of food on the Lido that he should have no problem finding food. And as far as finding each other....our family chooses somewhere on the first day to be our area......then when we go to eat lunch no matter what place we all decide to eat from could be four different choices we all know there area to find each other....whoever gets back first grabs the table for us.....this has worked great for us on all of our cruises so far......and we usually try to tell each other where we are going so if my son is going to get a burger i tell him to get me some fries or something there.....I LOVE the fries from Guys Burgers.

  6. Yes, correct!!!!

BUT, that $12,500 is $12,500 PLAYED, not necessarily LOST. Let's do some casino math for the shocked and awed crowd. I'll use roulette since that is what I am most familiar, and this will be some loose math based on average statistics.

Carnival's roulette wheel (zero and double zero) has a house edge of 5.26%, meaning for every $100 I bet (using the 1 in 37 chance to win) the casino will end up with $5. According to endless gambling research, people play 5 times the amount they start with at a sitting. So, if I start with $100 playing $10 per spin and keep replaying my winnings I should play $500 and end up with $75 left. If I keep playing my $75 I should play $375 and end up with $56. If I keep playing my $56 I should play $280 and end up with $42...and on and on. If I keep playing until my original $100 is all gone, I should have played $1835.

Based on that, to reach $12,500 of PLAY, I should have spent $700. So, in this example a 5000 point free cruise is NOT $12,500 of cash out your pocket, but $700 (assuming you get the average number of wins and losses). So it is entirely possible for people to say they only had $100 and ended up $200 ahead and still got a free cruise. It's also possible for someone to play $10,000 and be horribly horribly unfortunate and lose every time and not get a free cruise. It's not the win and loss that the casino counts but the amount of PLAY.

Please note this is based on a bunch of established averages and individual results WILL vary.

Davey Wavey thank you that makes a lot more sense than $12,500......my luck though I would be the one who spent the $10,000 and walked away in debt! LOL thats why I do very little gambling.

  7. Actually, I think they spent about $2,000 (5000/2.5) right?

I think you would multiply......if it $1-1 point that would be $5000......$2=1 point you would have to spend $10,000......etc.....its late...maybe i'm wrong and will understand it better in the morning....if I could spend $2000 and get a free rcruise it might be worth it though.....

  8. We have done some sort of door decoration on every cruise. It is all part of the fun. The first one we just got little plastic sea animals from dollar tree and hot glued magnets to the back of them. On the last day we let the kids take a few of them to their new friends in camp carnival. We still have a few of those and of course some walked away too. But they were cheap enough I wasn't bothered by it. On our last cruise we had bought a net decoration at dollar tree and a craft that made a fish out of tissue paper and also brought some blue tissue paper with us and had painted a sign out of card board that said a day at the beach is never wasted all these things were on our door and so far it has been my favorite. That cruise we also had a contest and we had won a prize from the contest. It was a lot of fun! I haven't decided what we are doing for our next cruise though.

  9. Mesh shower organizer:) Got it at Walmart

The hook on it allows you to hang it over the rail of the shelves in the bathroom. Helped me to keep organized and find things easily. Will always take it every time now!!!!!

Tried the over the door shoe organizer and the closet door would not shut/stay shut. Folded it back up, brought it home & sold it a garage sale:(

Getting excited......going on 3rd cruise next week.

what area in Walmart did you find the mesh organizer? I like it!

for the over the door shoe organizer I put it on the bathroom door and there are no problems closing the door. I put it on the inside of the bathroom but thinking this next time maybe putting it on the outside so when there is something I want to get I can get it without having to bother the person in the bathroom.

  10. We did the auto progresso tour for our Dec cruise and had a great time. My husband is already planning on going back so that we can do one of their other tours! there were only a total of maybe 15 people on our bus so it wasn't crowded at all. They talked a little bit of the way there and give you a little history and the ride out there was beautiful...or to me it was....Our 7 and 9 year old handled it just fine WAYYYY better than I expected! My advice is to make sure that if you do any shopping in the little market there and want something...buy it then and take it with you becuase when you come back they took us straight to the ship. I am sure they would have dropped us off there but there really wasn't any time becuase it was almost time for us to be back on the ship. I would reccomend this tour over and over again! Even the kids enjoyed this not so much for the history but just because to them it was like a big play ground getting to go in and out of the ruins....and also seeing all the iguanas! They were EVERYWHERE!!!

  11. I have been going thru all kinds of info pages. I have read that some people take a case of there favorite soda with them in there carryon. Can u do this on the Conquest? I love Diet Coke and I hear that all they have onboard is Pepsi products.

when we were on the conquest in Feb they did not have ANY pepsi products only coke products.

  12. Just got back from our cruise. We took the advice about packing less...we packed just the right amount of clothes. I had two dresses that I ddin't wear but I also didn't plan on buying dresses in any of the ports and did.

We brought a pack of highlighters that never got used. So we wont bring those again.

I found a small over the door shoe holder at dollar tree and am so glad we had it. We probably could have gotten by without it but it was nice to have stuff hanging and not on the counter spread out. Also had things in it that I needed for the shower...instead of having it in the shower I could reach out as i needed it and then put it back.

We brought a power striip...very glad we brought that it was used each and everyday.

  13. When hubby went on a cruise over 10 years ago there was a guy selling shells and coral and such. He bought a lot of Kowries (spelling) and a huge brain coral.....well he didn't know at the time...but they were still alive. His luggage reeked big time. He got the stuff home cleaned it all really well and we still have it all....but he learned to at least make sure it is dead...or bring baggies to keep the stuff in till you are home.
