Boorin, I’m putting the video link again as you said you couldn’t see it.

rydan, I fully agree with you, Coast Guards are true heroes! And in this case the evacuation was on a ship on calm waters, they do that in the middle of storms, and that is true risk.
The information I got from the woman, was that she had bleeding 3 weeks before but never reported it as she feared losing the cruise (no insurance), and then she had the complications on the ship. I agree with everybody that a cruise has to be meant to enjoy, and you will not be able to do it if you put yourself at risk.

LrgPizza, I was happy with the cabin, by all means we enjoyed it. It is that on all our past cruises we have had the bed close to the bathroom and we wanted a change, and I am disappointed that the deck plans do not reflect that accurately.

You are right!
Also, tips are included on the package, but if you have a special bartender where you tend to most of the time, tipping him additionally makes a great deal, they really appreciate it and will let you know it.

Two weeks ago we were on Norwegian Getaway and we experienced 2 helicopter medical evacuations. One on Monday at 4:20 am, I wake up to go to the bathroom, and I heard some unconventional noise, I went outside my balcony to see that a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter was overflying the ship; I stare at it until it flew away. Next day I was able to know that it was a pregnant woman that had a complication but had already delivered and both she and the son where OK.
The next evacuation was on Thursday August 6th, at 4:00 pm; so we were able to see the whole thing. The Cruise Staff prepared the whole evacuation almost 4 hours in advance (cleared several decks and areas removing the lounge chairs) and the actual evacuation took only about 30 minutes.
The Shipp’s staff prepared with the emergency brigade, ready with pressured water hoses, firefighters and support personnel. The US Coast Guard helicopter pilot showed incredible skills maintaining such stability for such a long time on a moving vessel and with the sea wind, and the US Coast Guard rescuer is a true hero!
I’m attaching a link to the video I took.
Unfortunately I don’t know the condition of the patient and what the outcome was, but I pray for his wellbeing.

We just returned from our cruise on Getaway, and the UBP was fully worth it! We had Grey Goose vodka, Macallan scotch, Zacapa Rum, etc. all top shelve liquors. A tip I got to know what was included (without asking the price) was it you see a bottle on the bar that has a free flow dispenser (metallic pipes) it is included, if the bottle is closed it will mean an extra charge (the difference to the $10 basis).
Enjoy!

I just returned from my cruise and unfortunately the cabin 9120 has the bed close to the bathroom. Unfortunately it wasn't as I investigated on the deck plans I had. But overall it was a great cruise and we fully enjoyed it.

Dear annamcc314, the mojito is a tropical drink originating in Cuba and based on the popular white rum Bacardi. The traditional recipe is:
In a tall glass mash together mint leaves and lime slices and a sugar teaspoon, once mashed add white rum (can be also gold or aged) and add sparkling water (club soda). Some bars make the mojito frappe where you grind all the components into a frost like a margarita.
Enjoy!

Hi PhysicsTeacher, that was the one with the angled balcony (triangular), another example of mismatch with the deck plan.
-
Thanks mnventure, a couple of examples where the deck plan matches reality.
-
Thanks CanadianMommyof2, this follows the weak trend that some cabins on the deck plans show the actual layout of the cabin. Someone knows about 9120 specific?
-
Thanks sundercruiser! I've read threads complaining on the large balcony aft cabins (9318), but for the B6 large balcony cabins on deck 9 (forward) there are many mixed comments saying they are accurate and some saying thet are not...
If somebody else has some specific experience with these type of cabins any feedback is appreciated.

I just booked cabin 9120 on the Getaway thinking it has the bed by the balcony (opposite to being close to the closet/bathroom). I have read mixed interpretations on how to read the cabin layout on the deck plans, and now I’m really confused.
I have searched the forum and nobody has ever written anything about this cabin.
Feedback, comments and if possible any picture is highly appreciated.

Hello everybody! Does the UBP also include the specialty coffees (i.e. Lavazza)? I love a couple of good expressos in the Morning and if these are also included it would be an added benefit.
Also, regarding the whine by the glass that you get included on the UBP, how is it in terms of quality?
Thanks for the feedback.

Medical evacuation on Getaway

We were on the second at sea day going from Tortola to Nassau, I assume we were close to Turks and Caicos, and most probable the helicopter came from Florida. And 3 hours passed from the time the evacuation was announced to the actual time of arrival, so I’m assuming we were about 350 Miles from the Florida coast (which makes sense when looking at the location in Google Maps).
