  1. My kids & I will arrive in Nassau July 19th at 9am & will be there ALL day until 7am on the 20th. We are wanting to tour Fort Charlotte, Ardasta Zoo, & then finish off the day at Junkanoo Beach with dinner at either Fat Tuesday's or Señor Frogs. Will this be doable??

  2. ScubaGirl…… Help.

My kids and I will be back in Nassau in July. We are planning on going to the zoo and then spend the rest of the day at a beach. Is there another beach that is free, clean, and somewhat close besides Junkanoo??

  3. I read the reviews about the rowdy crowd, too. I imagine things change from cruise to cruise, but I didn't see any unusually rowdy passengers. We just got off the ship on Sunday. Since it is early November, the crowd was a bit older with very few children.

I did see people trying to cut the line at the TSA check point at the airport, but no line cutting at the buffet or anywhere else.

I agree with other posters. The Valor is one of Carnival's prettiest ships. The staff was very friendly. The ports were awesome. Swim with the turtles in Barbados. It is something you will never forget!

I also agree!! We also just got off the Valor Sunday:( She is a beautiful ship and the staff was always cleaning or doing something. Our room steward was Polo & he did a great job keeping our room clean. Every time he saw us in the hall, he would speak & call us by our names. The CD Marcello (AKA Marshmellow) was very polite & informative every time we spoke. The wait staff was also wonderful. We had Rolondo and Delbert & from the very first night at dinner to the very last night at dinner they remembered our names and knew what it was we were drinking & wanted as a starter (We always got the shrimp cocktail) I never came in contact with a rude staff member. The Port of Calls were amazing and swimming with the turtles in Barbados was WONDERFUL. I am putting together a review with pictures but with over 3000 +/- pictures, it is taking some time. We are already booked on this exact cruise in October 2014 & cannot wait to go again. :D

  4. Looks like we will be going to the Sheraton in just a couple of weeks. CANT WAIT!!!! :)

This will be our very 1st time going to the Bahamas so I am just trying to get the last minute details so I know what to expect once we get there.

With the $30 day pass, is there a lunch/beverage buffet or some kind of meal voucher available??

    Thanks!! :)

  5. Yeah..... I finally got in touch with Nathan. At first I was planning on renting 2 golf carts for the time we are going to be there in December. As our luck would have it, he did not have anymore carts left. He told me that all he had left were Jeeps. In the begining of our conversations, he was going to charge us $80 for the carts but we negotiated 2 Jeeps for $70 each. Sounded like a good deal to us. =))

Cannot wait to go on this vacation.

  6. I have been communicating with Nathan for awhile regarding a cart rental. He is asking for me to send him my CC info via email so one can be reserved.

I am just not fond of sending out my CC info to just anyone, espically through emails. Has anyone else done this?? Any problems?? Thoughts and suggestions would be great.

  7. We are going on the Glory in Dec. and I hope we can still leave our passports at the pursers desk. This is my sons first time out of the country and I am sure he, and I for that matter, would like to look back on our travels so I am going to get the stamps. :D

Maybe someone that is getting ready to go on the Glory can check this out for me??

  8. The USVIs are one time zone (hour) earlier than EST - but be sure that your watch is on ship's time - that's the one that will determine when your ship leaves.

Carnival ships usually (as far as I know) dock at the Havensight Pier, but you should verify that. There are two ferries that run from STT to STJ - one leaves from downtown, which is walking distance from Havensight, and the other leaves from Red Hook, on the east end of the island. Time and cost are about the same on either one. The Red Hook ferries run more often. Using the ferry from Red Hook entails a taxi ride to get there, the downtown ferry would have you spending more time on the water. In December you *might* encounter swells that could make the longer ferry ride more uncomfortable - that depends on you and your group.

The taxis in Cruz Bay run to Trunk and Cinnamon Bays (as well as others possibly) and either one would be a good choice for a lazy beach day.

"A little shopping" means different things to different people. There are some charming little shops in Cruz Bay on STJ within easy walking distance of the ferry dock. Downtown STT is somewhat of a shopping mecca I am told, with stores of all descriptions as well as a straw market, restaurants, etc. If you want to shop in downtown Charlotte Amalie I would allow at least a couple of hours for that. There is also a mall at Havensight, so if your ship is indeed docking there, you can shop within sight of your ship.

    Hope this helps!

augie: It sure did help alot. Thanks bunches :D Seems like the better idea would be to go to the one that runs more often. Allows more time at STJ.

Sorry, but just a few more questions.

Did I read it correctly in an earlier post that you can purchase round trip ferry tickets?? Whats the price for the ferry?? What was the price for a taxi from where we dock to Red Hook?? Also, once we arrive at STJ, do we take another taxi to the beach?? Price?? Once we are done at the beach, do we get another taxi back to the ferry or where ever we want to go??

This is only our 2nd cruise and I am trying to get as much info as possible and you guys are GREAT for providing just that!!

  9. My family and I will be at HMC in December. We are going to splurge for the cabana. Question is, do we have to wait till we are on board and get to the excursion desk quickly to get one reserved?? I think I read somewhere that we can reserve one through the CCL website when the excursions come available 90 days prior to sail date. Anybody else know any different??

  10. Ok. I have a few questions to. :)

We are coming in on the Carnival Glory December 8th and will be there from 9-6. Is there a time change on the island during that time??

Where will we be docking at/which ferry to take to St.John/best beach for a lazy day??

I would also like to do a little shopping while we are there, either STT or STJ. Will us going to STJ allow for this and still make it back to the ship?? What time to do we need to be back to allow for that??

Thinking that will all the troubles that is going on in STT, it would be a more memorable first experience for us all. :D

Any advice/tips are always appreciated :D

    Julie :D
