  1. We stayed at the Andersen Hotel.  They had breakfast and a wine hour. It was a very nice hotel but it is a boutique hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Hotels in Copenhagen are very expensive and I believe we paid around 300 a night. Although we did need a room to accommodate three. Be aware that most Northern European hotel do not have air conditioning and if you want air-conditioning you need to ask the hotel if it’s available. We happen to have a room in the hotel that had air-conditioning but not all rooms did. The air conditioning also does not run like in the states. It’s not as cold as it is here.

  2. We just came back and we took a small amount of each local currency.  I heard that in St. Petersburg they wouldn’t take anything but rubles but found that some of the local vendors would take euros. Most places use credit cards. There was only one stand in Copenhagen that sold hotdogs that would not take credit cards. The vendors in Tivoli all took credit cards.

Hi! Awesome review and the pics were beautiful!  Thanks!  What was your cabin number?  Just booked a cruise on the Grandeur in a Junior Suite on deck 8 and would like to avoid that wretched "pole in the cabin".  Thanks!

I don't remember the cabin number but 2 years ago we had a jr suit and we had the pole. The poles are in the rooms under the pool.

  4. Unless things have changed since my daughter was in the younger kids club there are nights that you would sign up for and the counselors take the children to the windjammer to eat. Things on the larger ships may be different. When my daughter was younger they closed the club around lunch time for a few hours. Again on the larger ships it may be different.

  5.  For the photos you collect all of the prints like you’ve done in the past and they will keep them behind the counter until the last day. You don’t have a choice of sizes. As far as the digital some give you a thumb drive and I believe now there’s a code and you download them on your computer at home. As for the luggage they don’t store your suitcases for you you have to keep them in your room.

I purchased the All Prints photo package for Grandeur next month, and I was just wondering if anybody can let me know how it works. Do I need to go check photos every day and pull the ones I want or will they automatically be pulled? Just want to make sure we get every possible picture. We’ve got two first time cruisers with us that I want to have a bunch of photos for souvenirs, so I don’t want to miss out on any.

We were on Grandure two years ago and had this package. I went and let the photo desk know I had the package and collected the pictures and they kept them in a folder behind the desk and on the last day I got all my photos. So yes, you need to check the photos daily.

Well, I dry the spanx here at home, so I guess it will be ok. I will bring the older ones so if they are ruined, it won't be so bad.

The driers on a ship are commercial dryers and they run hotter. It might ruin the elastic.

I have to warn you...we have special needs and just got back from a trip on Adventure of the Seas that we had booked with the understanding that they can handle special needs. Parents need to know that the Royal Caribbean ratio for their children's program is 1:25!!! This would have been miserable for my two kids without special needs or sensitivities. It was complete chaos! I went all out to try to find out what we were missing since I'd heard RC does well with special needs kids but we just got a shoulder shrug and a "sorry ma'am but we can't offer one on one (I DIDN'T ASK FOR THAT!) and the Royal Caribbean staff ratio for children's programs is 1:25, but we will pass along your concerns to the appropriate department." WHAT?! We ended up on a 7-day cruise with no break from our two kids, who we definitely need a break from. Especially our son who has some big behavioral challenges. We got home totally exhausted, depleted and drained. Not what we had spent thousands of dollars and months planning for. Very very disappointed. And a letter to Royal Caribbean just got me a phone call from a customer service person who said they'll pass along my suggestions. Great. Thanks. Wish we'd gone on a Disney Cruise for fewer days.

Who said they can handle special needs? Most kids clubs so have high kid to counselor ratios. Royal does have a program called Autism at Seas but they only run on some sailings. You would need to research what sailings they are doing.

We talked earlier about the Fredagsrocl concerts at Tivoli each Friday.

The lineup is ready now and the term "rock" should be taken lightly.

The type of crowd will be much different and also the size.

If any of your planned Tivoli trips are on one of these days then just let me know and I will try to desribe what it will be like.

If I plan to go to Tivoli earlier in the day will we be told to leave during the concert time? Also if not is there an extra cost for the concerts? We plan on visiting on a Friday and having dinner somewhere in Tivoli. Thanks

So far I have cancelled the ride to San Juan Mall of Americas and Amiga Island.

I'm interested in the forts of San Juan. How far of a walk are they from the port?

As of now, the only excursions I am doing are the St. Maarten Beach Rendezvous as it includes the beach chair cost and a lunch (I've noticed most excursions charge extra for a beach chair!), Bermuda's zoo/aquarium sightseeing tour, and finally the Labadee parasail.

You have all pointed out that it is cheaper to do excursions not with the cruise line. However, as one person pointed out, this is my first cruise so I'm not comfortable going off the beaten path...do the excursions NOT available thru the cruise have tour guides/etc standing there when you come to port so you can sign up? I'd prefer not to sign up now as I don't know what I will feel like doing until I actually arrive at the port.

    Thanks for everyone's input!!

We did the  Beach rendezvous tour when we were in Saint Martin. It’s a nice relaxing beach day. We also did the zoo aquarium when we were in Bermuda. It’s a small aquarium. But we were traveling with a small child so that was good for her. You may wanna have your beach day in Bermuda at Horshoe Bay which I heard is a very nice beach.  In Bermuda there’s a glass blowing shop that is very nice to go see and there is shopping very close to port. I would suggest going to the fort in Puerto Rico. We did a tour and really didn’t see very much.
