  1. Hey Brian and Ron:

Well we should hopefully recognize one another, as I was definitely on that transatlantic too, in fact that was second leg of a back to back for me as I remained onboard from the Eastern Med cruise immediately prior to the Transatlantic...BUT (disclaimer) my memory for people and especially names can be dreadful.

AND being 6'6" tall, I am rather hard to miss. LOL.

Look forward to seeing you onboard!

    Randy

  2. Hi Everyone!

Randy (AndersonIslander) here. I will be onboard with you all. The westbound Reflection TA is always my favorite cruise of the year, and this will be my 4th or 5th annual Reflection westbound TA. As usual, I will be cruising solo.

Is anyone interested in getting together for a pre-cruise get-together dinner in Rome? I'll be staying at the capo d' Africa hotel (very close to the Colosseum) where I arrive late on the 17th.

Looking forward to seeing all of you!

    Randy

  3. I look forward to saying hello in person SOON Randy

Hey Johnny and all...since I said I was in cabin 1696, I thought I should post that I have changed my cabin assignment. I'm back to back from the Eastern Med Reflection cruise immediately prior to the Transatlantic, and the Sky Suite (2160) that I am in for the Eastern Med became available for the Transatlantic, so I bit the bullet and bought the Sky Suite upgrade and thus won't have to move. Yaaay.

Johnny, if you would like to move to 1696, it's available and a great C1 cabin and I don't think it would cost you much, if anything, to move (I think prices decreased a bit, so there may be no charge to move)...the cabins over the wake are always really great for the view and usually have significantly bigger verandahs.

Looking forward to seeing you all onboard!!

    Randy :)

  4. This is my third TA with Celebrity. Am part of the Pied Piper group. I'm from NY, and my buddy Brian is also along from DC. I think I'm in 1676 and not sure what cabin Brian is. Love the Alcoves on Silhouette and Reflection, this trip can't come soon enough

Hiya! We're almost neighbors...I'll be in 1696 (center aft over looking the wake) just down the hall from you! I do the Reflection's westbound TA every year and it's always lots of fun!

Look forward to seeing you onboard!

    Randy :D

  5. Hiya... Randy here ... I'll be on board... I'm back to back, originating on the Reflection's Eastern Med cruise on 10/10 also out of Rome and staying onboard for the T/A. Will be in 2160 with my friend Mike for the Eastern Med, then in 1696 solo for the TA. At 6'6" , I'm hard to miss...lol

I do this TA every year and it usually has a very fun LGBT contingent, I trust this year will be no exception.

Look forward to seeing everyone onboard!!

    Randy

    :D

  6. Have fun. I want to take a TA next year. Trying to look for a bargain solo rate. I might have to take the plunge and pay the 200% and enjoy myself. It will be a bucket list trip. I guess age wise I'll be in the middle in my 40's.

I always sail solo and my cruises include 1 to 3 TA's per year...love the sea days. But have never found a bargain for solo...always have paid 200%. A drag, but at least get double Captains Club points.

If you find a reduction in the single supplement on an X TA, please let me know!!

    THANKS!!

    Randy :D

  7. Regarding casino. If u play it is worth doing. It is per person. The promotion money goes on your individual sea pass card. So two people in a cabin can spend 1500 max and receive an additional $225 for total of 1725 each. We are on board for 13 nights so we can. Using the card . when u win a jackpot u print out our winnings and cash the ticket in.. You have to play the. System.

Do you know if this offer good only for slots or can it be used for table games?

    Thanks!

  8. Hi Randy,

quite honestly, I do not remember much from our TA cruise two years ago, but this time I'll keep my eyes at the 6'6" level, instead of looking demurely at my own feet, so I won't miss you. Looking forward to seeing you (again) soon.

    Herbert

Hey Herbert: Will look forward to seeing you too!

Also wanted to note that I have changed cabins for this TA cruise. Managed to switch to 2156 on the hump where I wanted to be.

    See you all onboard!

    Randy :D

  9. Hi there,

we are Herbert and Uwe from Munich, Germany and after living through Oktoberfest hell here, we will be ready for some days on the Atlantic. Looking forward to meeting you.

I am surprised there are so few people on this thread.

Hi Guys...Randy here (andersonislander). I was on the Nov 2013 Reflection TA which you two guys were on as well I believe...I was the 6'6" tall guy travelling solo if you remember me.

I'll be on the Reflection Oct 23 TA as second leg of my B2B (staying on board from Reflection's Oct 12 Eastern Med.)

I'm in cabin 2118 on the TA (and cabin 2163 on the Eastern Med. if anyone else is B2B)....

    Travelling solo on both legs.

Looking forward to seeing everyone onboard!

    Randy :D

  10. Hi! My name is Randy, I'll be on the Oct 23, 2015 Reflection Transatlantic as the second leg of a back to back. (I'll be staying on board from the Eastern Med cruise sailing from Civitavecchia on Oct 12)

I'm solo on both cruises, and on the TA will be in cabin 2118 (and in 2163 on the Eastern Med if anyone else is B2B)

Looking forward to seeing everyone onboard!

    Randy :D

*edit* Oops, sorry I think I duplicated this below...

  11. Have you received offical notice? I have not but we have called Celebrity and been told by 3 different people what our new itinerary is... but they won't confirm it officially. Driving me crazy as I have tours set up for 24 people... how do I make the changes that need to be done? You know they know exactly where we are going as they have had to get permission to go to these new places. Why can't they just tell us? I see the new itinerary on the UK website but not the US Celebrity website. Of course my travel agent is on vacation. Frustrating

I just received a robo call informing me that out of an abundance of caution, our overnight in Istanbul on the last Celebrity Reflection Med Sailing of the season is canceled. Instead an overnight in Athens. It also said additional details would be given at boarding and to confirm receipt of the notice by pressing "1". What was somewhat distressing is the caller id showed the phone number as all 1's.

  12. With only two weeks to go, I am a little surprised that we've had so little activity on this board. I've been on many Celebrity TA's and there has always been a substantial LGBT contingent.

BUT, has everyone taken note that our last night of the cruise is the highest of all gay holidays, HALLOWEEN?

Is everyone planning to bring at least some sort of accouterments to honor this most important of days on the gay calendar? :D

Looking forward to seeing you all onboard!

    Randy

  13. First time on an S-Class ship, so not sure what would be a good option for sailaway. Sunset Bar sounds great to me. Pretty sure it´s easy to spot each other there.

Not sure where and when we will be going for dinner that night, so sailaway drinks would be preferred from my side on day 1.

I know about the boards and will check them for a possible LGBT get-together time as well.

    Have a nice weekend

    Michael

Sunset Bar is usually packed for sailaway, and Reflection has the best Sunset bar in the fleet, with a larger, deeper deck and a sunken bar in a reverse orientation from typical allowing much more focus on the view to the rear of the ship. (ie, you can even sit at the bar and still be looking out over the wake )

As far as easy to find each other, I suppose with good Gaydar, we will have a good chance...lol but it IS usually VERY busy at 1st sailaway. The Mardi Gras beads or other identifier can be very helpful if everyone would like to attempt that, and typically on the REGULAR cruise critic roll call, someone takes signups for name tags and makes them up and they're often distributed right at that sailaway or occasionally at a table set up somewhere. Have you signed up to the regular roll call yet? I haven't but will.

FYI, I'm often rather easy to spot if I'm standing as I am 6'6" tall...lol.

For those interested, this cruise is supposed to have a truly extraordinary shore excursion in St. Maarten, which I've heard raves about. It is the America's Cup Sailing Regatta, where you actually sail on one of three actual winning America's Cup Racing Yachts (one of them is the very famous "Stars and Stripes" ) either as a minor crew person if you want or just a passenger during the race for fun against the other two boats. Most of the comments about it are in the vein of "best shore excursion ever!" etc. And it's only $96.

I've already purchased it on the Celebrity website, and am looking forward to it....I actually saw a couple of the actual for real America's Cup races last Sept when I was onboard the Solstice for the America's Cup cruise which docked 2 nights in San Francisco and from Sunset Bar we had the best view of the races in the entire Bay (even better than the high priced VIP spectator stands, whose view we significantly blocked! LOL).

Think you'll love the S-Class. They are truly spectacular.

Only two months or less till we all leave for Italy! YAAAAY!

    Randy

  14. Welcome Flemming & Klaus. Not sure if the others are still with us. I am sure we will spot each other once onboard. Looking forward to possibly having drinks together.

    Michael & Peter

Hey Michael and Peter. (and Flemming & Klaus). For me at least, yeah I've been busy with other stuff, but definitely still going and looking forward to the cruise, the drinks, and seeing you all on board!

Perhaps we can agree on a meeting place and time if you like. The Reflection also usually posts on a bulletin board adjacent to Customer Relations an almost nightly "LGBT Gathering" (used to be called Friends of Dorothy but a few cruises of mine back, some friends persuaded the Cruise Director that that designation was outdated--and sometimes they have been persuaded to post that in the daily schedule delivered to every cabin). However, my experience has been that it is often not scheduled at the most convenient of times, and that typically the LGBT crowd kind of sets it's de-facto meeting time and place (lots of times that is either Sunset Bar or Martini Bar). I've been on several Celebrity Transatlantics (three last year alone) and usually there is a substantial LGBT presence.

Sometimes we have worn mardi gras beads to the sail away at Sunset Bar the evening of embarkation, but a few straights sometimes do that too, although that's certainly not a problem...lol

    Any thoughts anyone? :D

  15. Anyone leaving Rome airport on October 16th going to the port. There are two of us looking to share a car

Sorry, I'm arriving on the 16th, but staying that night at the Hilton Garden Inn the airport (FCO) and then using a car service to the port probably around 11AM. I could probably share with others if interested and are arriving at the airport by that time on Friday. I can also recommend a great car service I have used several times in Rome and to the Port, it's American owned and I've always had a great experience with them. It is Bob's Limos. You can Google Bob's Limos Rome.

  16. Hello all!

Apparently no one has started a G&L roll call for Reflection's Fall 2014 Westbound Transatlantic from Rome to Miami, departing Oct. 17, so I will. I have booked an AQ1 on the Penthouse deck for this cruise, which will be my 3rd T/A on the Reflection, my favorite ship in the fleet. As per usual, I am travelling solo.

The T/A's usually have a large gay contingent on board, hopefully this one will too! Who else is coming along?? :D

  17. Made it to Rome...my hotel (h10 Roma Citta) is much nicer than I expected...only one minor disaster, managed to spill a full glass of red wine all over my (tan colored) pants about 1/4 way into the longhaul from Seattle to Frankfurt...and naturally had no clothes in my carry on...LOL...otherwise things went smoothly.

    Look forward to meeting everyone!!

    Ciao bella!

    Randy :D

  18. Wow Randy - that sounds wonderful. We did 6 cruises in one year once - it took me a lot of gym time to try and fix that :)

Hopefully your friends don't read this or they will have to act surprised :)

Don't think that there is too much danger that they will read the G&L roll calls. And I'm not even sure they are on Cruise Critic. They are a great straight couple I met on a Panama Canal cruise about 4 years ago. Managed to completely surprise them on their June Alaska cruise...I just had a bottle of wine waiting in their stateroom with a note that said "Guess who is onboard!"

  19. I'll be onboard...(travelling solo as usual)...this will be my 3rd TA this year and fourth overall (does this make me a hedonist or a masochist? ...did Reflection in April/May eastbound) and am doing the westbound on Reflection next week. I do love all the sea days... This will be my first time on Silhouette. I assume we're having a sailaway at Sunset Bar? Everybody bring their mardi gras beads? If I don't see you at the sailaway, it may mean I had a flight delay...I don't arrive Rome until 12:20 PM day of sailing, but have booked my flight and transfer through Celebrity Cruise's Choice Air, so they promise to get me there ...at least eventually!

Look forward to seeing you all onboard!

    Randy
